I was driving at approximately 5 mph, on a road with several steep speed bumps, with no cars around and no overhanging trees, and suddenly a 24-inch hairline crack popped across the driver's side of my windshield. There's no evidence of any impact at all on the windshield--the crack is entirely in between the laminate. Entire windshield now needs to be replaced and I assume the eyesight recalibrated.
Vehicle was parked in sunlight for approximately 4 hours on a private driveway. Came back and there was a 12+ inch crack in the windshield. No evidence of rock chips. Glass will not be able to be inspected because it needed to be replaced.
Chipped windshield, crack started to spread inside the windshield.
Rear view mirror fell off while driving. There was no impact or otherwise cause for this to fall off. The mirror took a chunk of glass from the front windshield with it. Very dangerous.

In June 2020, 3 months after buying my 2016 Impreza used, the windshield randomly cracked from the bottom of the windshield and travelled upwards on the passenger side. Over the couple of weeks it took before getting replaced, the crack continued to spread splitting in multiple directions, including travelling across the bottom of the windshield and coming up the middle. By the time I was able to get the windshield replaced, there was about 3 and half feet cracked in total. When this crack occurred, I realized that it was a pgw windshield and not the original, meaning that it had been replaced before my purchase. The windshield was replaced with a xyg windshield by a third party and paid for by Subaru. Now in April 2022, I went to get into my car one morning and noticed that the windshield had spontaneously cracked from the bottom up in the middle of the windshield and the crack stretches about 10 inches. Additionally, the crack can only be felt from the inside and there is no damage to the outside. Based on me now needing to replace it for at least the third time since 2016, I question the quality of how the windshield fits and the seal if this is such a frequent issue.

One morning when I got in my car the windshield had a large crack. Driver side about half way down the crack is from left to right around 12-14”. There is no apparent reason I can see for the crack. I had not driven the car for 2 days prior to the crack appearing.

Windshield cracked for not apparent reason. Parked car, places visor up, came back to car, took visor down and immediately noticed the crack. I do not remember any rocks hitting the windshield at that spot and I did not notice it at all until this morning when returning to my car. Very unusual.
I turn my vehicle on while am waiting to car to get warm I turn on the heat the windshield crack by it self.

My windshield cracked straight up the middle for no apparent reason. This problem has been confirmed by numerous NHTSA complaints. Less than 12,000 miles. No rock hit my windshield but I hit a bump when it cracked. $470 to replace or pay my $2,000 deductible.
The windshield cracked spontaneously. There are no signs of chips or any cracks indicating something hit it. The weather was chilly but not freezing and the vehicle was parked and unoccupied. The crack starts at the top and curves/snakes down the middle.
Front windshield spontaneously cracked running from bottom edge of windshield vertically up window for approx 10”.
The windshield on my 2018 Impreza car cracked on the lower left drivers side. The crack was unexpected and was not triggered by anything. It arrived out of no where. There is no chip or indentation. Crack is about the length of 2 dollar bills. I feel this is a manufacturing defect and should be paid for by Subaru. This is absolutely faulty craftsmanship and I am extremely disappointed with the durability considering I take excellent care of my vehicle and have had it for less than 1 year! not to mention, I do not even want to think about the lack of protection this windshield would have provided me if I were ever been in an accident. As a mother, I prefer to drive a vehicle that is safe with my 2 year old daughter in the back seat. I read that there is an ongoing lawsuit with Subaru concerning 2017-2019 vehicles with windshield defects. I am not the only individual experiencing this. Not to mention, this is not an expense I was prepared for and shouldn’t have to be, if Subaru would make a windshield that was not faulty and safe for its consumers! Subaru needs to make this right and be considerate of its consumers.
I have a 2019 Subaru Impreza and my windshield cracked for the second time in two years. I was driving and heard a loud pop and the windshield cracked from the top about a foot down. Nothing hit the windshield. The first time this happened, the car was sitting in the driveway. I have an appointment with the dealer tomorrow. . Read more...
The driver side visor hangs in the face of the driver. It will not stay up against the window, so it blocks the drivers ability to see. The driver must take a hand off the steering wheel to hold it out of the way, and have it block the blazing sun so that she can see the road. This is very unsafe. The passenger side visor fell right off, so the sun shines right in the driver's eyes from that side of the windshield. Both need to be replaced, and/or have their mechanisms replaced so they are safe to use and don't block the driver's vision.

The contact owns a 2020 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that after warming up the after driving approximately 1/10 th of a mile at approximately 10 mph or less when the vehicle's windshield suddenly fractured under the seal rubber in the lower center of the vehicle. In the lower then suddenly migrated to the left and to the right of the windshield in different directions. The contact contacted the dealer however they had not inspected the vehicle in person as of yet. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.
Windsheild cracked for no reason. Noticed crack after car sat in driveway all day.
The windshield cracked without any reason, at the top by the passenger side. The initial crack was approximately a foot and it has since grown and is moving horizontally across the windshield. It is available for inspection. This happened while the car was parked.
I have had 3 windshields crack (all in the winter months) for no reason with this Impreza. On December 4 2021, I turned on the car and while still in park, a 5" crack started growing from the bottom of the front windshield upward. The crack was not there when I started the car and during the day it grew to 8". This repair costs $1000 each time and from what I have read, Subaru is aware that this is not an isolated incident with these windshields. I complain each time that the windshields are defective and that vehicles I have that are 10 years old have not had a windshield crack or be relaced. Even a Subaru employee joked I should trade before getting another cracked windshield this winter. I should have heeded that advice.
The driver's side sun visor, which is supposed to stay where you put it (either up out of the way or down in front of the window) has lost its grip and now just hangs straight down obscuring my view of the road ahead and could swing into my face if I brake or accelerate quickly.
Front windshield cracked for no reason.
The car windshield cracked while driving without any apparent reason. It is a large horizontal crack on the driver's side which affects visibility.
The windshield cowl separates at the bottom of the windshield for reasons such as heat. The separation grows over time and has the potential to detach on the highway partially or entirely. If detached partially, obstructs vision and scares. If entirely, could impact following vehicle. This problem is reproduced and confirmed by both my dealership and multiple independent online sources. Look for "windshield cowl seperation" topics for 17+ Imprezas and 18+ crosstreks. This issue became apparent within the first year of ownership, was serviced at the dealership by replacing the part under warranty, and now has occurred once more in my second year of ownership. Attached photograph shows the beginning of separation (not the wiper). This can grow in size very quick. Noted additional details are dated for last occurrence, however as stated 1 more occurrence has occurred 1 year ago at approx 5,000 miles.
The windshield of the care cracked without damage. I was sitting with the car in park and just watched it crack. It started from the edge near the seal, and is ~8 inches long. There was no previous damage and nothing hit the window when it happen. There is no chip or area where damage occurred, it just simple cracked for no reason.
Windshield cracked for no apparent reason.
Windshield spontaneously cracked. Additionally, windshield wiper reservoir leaks but dealer says it’s fine.
The windshield spontaneously cracked. The car has 3600 miles on it, has never been driven on a highway, and resides in a garage.
When driving on freeways, twice in the last 6 months, the windshield was struck by a small piece of gravel and cracked immediately. The first time there was an impact indent and a 6 inch crack, the second time there was a star shaped indent and an 11 inch crack. The windshield does not seem strong enough to deal with small gravel impacts. In both cases the crack spread overnight as the car heated and cooled. Both times I had the windshield replaced by a usaa-certified glass replacement shop and recalibrated by Subaru.
Windshield spontaneously cracked while parked .
The windshield on the car seems to break, and/or chip very easily and much more frequent than any other vehicle I have owned.

The windshield spontaneously cracked. It began on the lower passenger side and ended in about the center of the windshield. The car was parked in a residential driveway at the time, and suffered no impact.
My windshield was broken one morning from edge of passenger side all the way through to the driver side deep enough to put my fingernail in when I came outside, no incidents or impact. Subaru dealership fails to replace it or acknowledge the issue.
I was informed that the windshields in certain models are spontaneously cracking two inches from the bottom of the windshield - a tiny rock caused a 14 inch crack which is unheard of. Clearly, the windshield is terrible and Subaru doesn’t want to take responsibility for their faulty windshields. When I check google, I am not the only one.
July 09 2021 reported to Subaru el paso at time of first maintenance (6000 miles) vehicle losses power and stalls when making turns, it is more noticeable making a left turn. Technician said coudn't duplicate the problem and no furter action was needed. However a year ;later from time to time vehicle does stall while making turns making, odometer reads 18081. The oher issue is its windshield, it cracked while driving it on January 29, 2022, there is no stress marks from pebbles, rocks, or any other flying from the road or vehicles. Wrote an inquiry to manufacturer, sent a picture, but we never got a response to this inquiry, took vehicle for its 18000 scheduled maintenance, let Subaru of el paso to look at it, and their response was to call our auto insurance to handle its repair, technician did not bother to inspect this issue and didn't recorder on maintenance.

Spontaneous windshield large crack while parked at worksite parking place on 06/07/2021. My safety was put at risk because I had to drive back home not knowing if the windshield would explode. I called the dealer (herb gordon Subaru in silver spring maryland)right away (around 5:30 pm) and they gave me an appointment for repair with an $800 estimate. They did not inform me of Subaru issued with windshields. This is a recently purchased pre-owned certified vehicle on 3/22/2020. Called the insurance company and advised me to go in person talk to the dealership which I will today 6/8/2021. No warnings nor I noticed any thing hitting the windshield.
