Subaru Legacy owners have reported 3 problems related to tire pressure monitoring system (under the tire category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Subaru Legacy based on all problems reported for the Legacy.
Tpms system on Subaru 2010 Legacy is triggered when tire pressure falls just below placard cold tire pressure. Dealer (lithia Subaru, reno) recommends increasing tire pressure to 125% of placard cold tire pressure. Subaru also recommends increasing tire pressure. This leads to many drivers driving with overinflated tires. Subaru needs to lower the pressure at which tpms system indicates low tire pressure to actually low tire pressure. 75-80% of placard cold tire pressure would seem an adequate solution.

My 2008 Subaru Legacy has no manual reset button for the tire pressure monitoring system. We change out tires up here 2 times a year and the dealer charges us $50. 00 each time to reset this system. When this was passed in to law,why didn't it have a reset on it for this type of thing. I can see where a lot of the drivers will just ignore it and let the light glow or burn out. Also the tire valve stems are expensive(35. 00 each) I can see a lot of people not replacing them or taking them out of the rims in the future. This is a bad law with monetary loss to the consumer as usual. . . .

Tire pressure monitoring system: there is no customer reset for this federal mandated device on my 2009 Subaru Legacy. I have to pay $50. 00 each time to have it reset at the dealer when I change tires in the spring and fall. Thanks a lot for this fix that was not thought out by my elected representatives. . . . This needs fixed for all of the drivers out there.
