While driving on freeway the tire pressure warning light came on. I started to slow down and pull over and I felt the car wobble. I pulled to the side of the road and the tire had completely failed. The sidewalls, inside and out, had square chunks completely gone along the complete sidewall.

225/50r18. Factory oem, serious dry-rot necessitating replacement due to safety concerns. Tires are slightly older than 3. 5 years (2018 model year purchased 04/18) with less than 40k miles. All four tires exhibit the dry rot, but the photo is representative of the most serious case of concern. No concerns related to tread wear depth.

P225 / 50 r 18 on 8/28/2021, I noticed my front drivers tired looked weird. Upon inspection, it looked like dry rot. I do have a picture of the tire. I immediately went to tire kingdom and purchased a set of of 4 new tires. Tire kingdom confirmed that the tire looked defective. Still plenty of tread, but the side was separating causing it to not be safe. There was no warning on the car system as the tire had not yet completely separated.
The tires I had on my vehicle were primewell valera touring 2. The issue with these tires was the sidewalls were shredding. There has been a recall for this same issue but the tires I have are not included in the recall and they should be.

Tire sidewall separation while driving approx. 45 mph. Bridgestone potenza re92 p205/55 r16.
Tire sidewalls are cracking on all 4 tires, and a section of the right front tire has completely separated. A mechanic at local service station stated that he is seeing a lot of this on this size michelin tire, particularly on Subaru outbacks.

Sidewall deterioration and failure. On sidewall, 1 cm. Below the corner/beginning of tread, rubber deteriorated esposing white material underneath for the entire circumference of tire. No blowout experienced, just slow leak resulting in flat. Vehicle location at time of failure: nh route 16 south, 0. 5 miles before exit 9. Very hot day - temperatures in the mid 90's. Failed tire left at tri-city Subaru (nh) service desk on 6/16 - contact service manager (paul) at (603) 742-3647 (mon-fri 8am-5pm). Due to local unavailability of firestone wilderness at replacement tire (on 6/16), my vehicle now has a goodyear spirit tire on front/left. I am aware that having different design tires on my vehicle is unsafe, but I had no choice. It would have been more unsafe to continue driving on the donut spare. Requesting of tri-city to replace failed tire, and reinburse my costs associated with the goodyear spirit tire. (tiresize: p225/60r16)( dot number: tire size: p225/60r16 ).

Tires repeatedly lose air, especially in rear. Steel belt began showing and a large sidewall bulge appeared in one rear tire at about 15,500 miles. Replaced all four tires at approximately 15,580 miles, with michelin tires, because we felt that the bridgestone tires were not safe and did not want replacements of the same make that might fail in the same manner in the future. ( dot number: obj6pja417 tire size: 185/70 r14 ).
I noticed that the outer layer of rubber has begun to come off on the sidewall, showing a white underlayer, near the lettering but not exclusively at the lettering. I looked at a similar model of Subaru and saw the same thing had happened to its tire. Since I have not had an accident, I am assuming that this is a tire failure. Please advise.
