11 Structure problem of the 2006 Subaru Outback

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

2006 Subaru Outback sw. Coming home on the freeway, I heard what sounded like something was loose. Since my car is only 4 years old and I did buy it brand new, I couldn't imagine it was the muffler as that is what it sounded like. Upon looking under the car in my garage, I noticed that there was a bolt connecting the right rear tire to the axle missing, appearing as though it had been severed off. It is parked in a locked garage everyday and now the axle is drooping below the hole where the bolt should be. I have contacted my local Subaru dealer to repair this. I will not drive this car as I know it may cause an accident should the tire come off.

13 Structure problem of the 2010 Subaru Outback

Failure Date: 04/24/2010

I purchased a 2010 Subaru Outback from ira Subaru in danvers, MA in January, 2010. Several weeks ago, I discovered the frame around the engine was rusted. This car is brand new. I recently brought this to the attention of ira Subaru. They said it's fine, and it just needs to be treated with a special spray, and that's all they did. Is this safe? why was my 2010 Subaru already rusting? the cars that wcvb tv in boston highlighted last night all seemed to be japanese. Please advise. My car has just 3,800 miles on it. Thank you.

14 Structure problem of the 2005 Subaru Outback

Failure Date: 01/06/2010

In comparison with many trucks and cars I have driven in winter conditions for over 30 years, our 2005 suburu Outback is much more unstable especially in the rear end whenever hard packed snow or ice is encountered even at moderate speeds (30-50 mph). At least once this cause the vehicle to spin uncontrollably. In identical conditions, a truck in 2wd (I have several trucks on my ranch) is far more stable. There is a clear safety problem with this vehicle for which tires, inflation, alignment according to manufacturers specs fails to cure.

15 Structure problem of the 2007 Subaru Outback

Failure Date: 12/10/2008

2007 Subaru Outback 2. 5i, 4 snow tires, 5mt. This has happened several times. When driving the vehicle straight (no turns) on slightly icy or blowing snow roads, the rear end begins to wobble approxiamtley 3inches side to side. I am giving the car little to no throttle and it will still sway. The swaying becomes much worse with more weight in the car (1 foot side to side). The swaying is so bad that I often have to drive 15-20mph slower than general traffic. I have had new tires put on (snow tires) and had the car aligned. It still occurs.

18 Structure problem of the 2002 Subaru Outback

Failure Date: 10/10/2006

Everytime it rains or go through a car wash the seat belt gets wet and is worse when the seat belt has been retracted as the wet area now is all across you. It apparently is making its way through the sunroof. What is the repair for this, new seals in the sunroof or the roof rack mounting holes?.

19 Structure problem of the 2003 Subaru Outback

Failure Date: 06/06/2005

My 2003 Subaru Outback, ll bean model with 17,378 miles, developed a serious water leak through the roof, on Jun. 2, 2005. I purchased this vehicle new and purchased an extended warranty. This problem re-occurred on October 17th with the interior flooded which necessitated the carpeting in the rear to be completely replaced. On Nov. 10th, 2005, after a light rain, the roof leaked again for the 3rd. Time. The car is in the dealer service now.

20 Structure problem of the 2000 Subaru Outback

Failure Date: 01/03/2003

Passenger side sun roof drain plugs up. Backed up water drains into inside rear cargo area. My vehicle came equipped with the large all weather rubber mat in the cargo area. Since the area where the water pours out is near the right rear of the car the most of the water ends up on the carpet under the mat and it is not always noticeable. Spoke with contractor that comes in and takes care of water leak for dealer he said is the fix should take care of problem. Found it distracting while driving that water was pouring down inside of car, could see in rear view mirror. Once water drained out leak stopped, but water would build up again. Worry about possible damage to headliner and future body structural integrity due to water leaking into roof area.

21 Structure problem of the 2001 Subaru Outback

Failure Date: 01/01/1901

Consumer Subaru Outback tail lights burned out quite often. After replacing the bulb consumer noticed that the socket was corroded. The engine stalled while driving up a small hill. The vehicle was towed where it was discovered a blown 30 amp fuse in the motor side fuse box. The incident happened a second time and the vehicle was taken to a different dealer where the problem was diagnosed as a blown fuse again. When the consumer opened the hatch, water was pouring out of the little doors that housed the tail lights bulbs and wires. The consumer believed the leaking hatch was responsible not only for the burned out tail lights and rotting wires, but also for the electrical shorts that blew out the 30 amp fuse in the engine compartment and caused the engine the die.

22 Structure problem of the 2001 Subaru Outback

On six occasions while driving, the driver's foot slipped from the brake pedal to accelerator pedal unexpectedly. The consumer believed there was a design problem due to insufficient space between the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal. The brake pedal and accelerator pedal are too close. On two other occasions, while moving slowly ahead, the vehicle had gone out of control. Scc.
