About a month ago, I began hearing a periodic loud metallic clack-clack-clack when making a left u-turn, which sounded as if it were tire rotation dependent. It sounded as if it came from the front end. After a couple of weeks I could hear it randomly when going from a stand still, and very seldom when braking. Last Thursday, I noticed that the steering wheel center position had moved to the left, and I decided to check the whole front suspension. Tightened a bunch of under torqued bolts, including the 8 that hold the engine cradle to the body. Last night the noise was noticeable when driving over and bumps, and the car began to pull to the left when braking. A final road bump and the car sounded as if it was falling apart. When stopping at the next traffic light, the car pulled more noticeably to the left, and the rear end came up. I made it to a gas station, where I inspected both front and back but was not able to see anything. Tried to rock the top of all tires in and out and they all seemed firm. Drove 18 miles at 25-30 miles per hour, trying not to use the brakes at all. Once in the garage, I got under the car and voil. . . Left rear trailing link completely broken. At 74890 miles. The pictures show another crack starting on the upper bend of the arm. By the characteristics of the crack, it seems as if the part had fatigued. This morning I crawled the car to the closest Subaru dealer, and even out of warranty, they replaced the link for free, of course after I got the "never saw this kind of failure before" internet forums have multiple reports of this kind of failure. Please see the attached pictures.

When going over small bumps there is a cracking sound in the front and rear suspension or brake area, it does not happen when going at high speeds just small bumps and braking.

Tl- the contact's wife owns a 2018 Subaru Outback. The contact's wife had noticed an abnormal noise while driving at various speeds without warning. The contact took the vehicle to hughes Subaru(3010 atlanta hwy, athens, GA 30606) to have the brakes inspected and the dealer found no faults with the brakes. As the failure persisted, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they discovered a failure with the two front tire wheel bearings and they replaced the two front bearings under warranty. The dealer also suggested that all four tires would need to be replaced due to the wheel bearings. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he inspected the vehicle and discovered that all four tires were chopped. He stated that the two front tires were worse then the rear tires. He also stated that this failure could lead to suspension issues with the vehicle in future. The manufacturer had yet to notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000. Jo.

Driver side front wheel/suspension is making rattling noise while driving at any speed. The noise is worse when hitting uneven surfaces on the road (like a repair spot or transition from concrete to asphalt) . The front-end sounds loose, and there is a slight vibration when driving at higher speeds. We have taken our car into the dealer multiple times and they say all is ok and the noise is as intended by the manufacturer. We do not feel safe in the car.
There was a burned rubber smell and noise coming from the left rear wheel area of the car. The suspension subframe snapped and caused the left rear tire to be shaved from contact with the wheel well. We were told by our mechanic that we had no recourse on this recall and he offered us $500 for the vehicle stating that we could not get it fixed by Subaru. We also called Subaru and they said that there was no recall for our VIN #. We are checking to make sure this is true or not.

The contact owns a 2003 Subaru Outback. While driving at any speed, the vehicle bounces, shakes, and wobbles from side to side. The failure is also followed by a bumping sound. The contact believes that it is causing wear and tear on the vehicle. She is terrified to drive the vehicle. The dealer stated that the vehicle was performing this way due to the items in the vehicle. The driveshaft was replaced and the dealer stated that the viscus cup needed to be replaced. Currently, there is failure with the struts, bearings, and suspension. The dealer stated that the vehicle would pass inspection. The failure mileage was 75,000.
