1 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2012 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 06/04/2017

The passenger side seat sensor has failed to register a passenger and communicate with the computer. This will cause the airbags to not deploy and can seriously injure the passenger. Suzuki was notified and refuses to repair the issue. Instead they want over $2000 for a new seat. Years 2007 - 2011 had the same issue and was recalled for the exact same thing. Please make them accountable and do a recall for this.

2 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2012 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 06/20/2016

Takata recall I was in an accident where I rear ended a car that was stopped at a light on a city street, speed limit 25-35, going uphill. Upon impact airbags did not deploy. The front of my car was severely crushed having gone under the SUV. Spare tire on SUV saved my life. I believe that the airbags shoud have deployed.

5 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 12/12/2013

The front passenger airbag warning light comes on intermittently. There is a known recall of the 2009 Suzuki Sx4 for a problem with the sensor in the right front passenger seat. I bought this car as a used vehicle in December 2013. I have attempted to contact Suzuki motor of America directly by two separate letters to inquire about having the necessary repair made; also I have called three designated dealerships that handle Suzuki warranty repairs in orlando, tampa, and st. Petersburg, FL to inquire about the status of the recall. I have received no response from Suzuki motor of America, and the dealers know nothing about the status of this recall, other than verifying that my vehicle is one of those affected by the recall. I am concerned that, should this vehicle be involved in an accident with a passenger in the front passenger seat, that the airbag will not deploy as it should, thus potentially leading to a serious passenger injury. I would like assistance in getting Suzuki to follow through with the recall repairs for this defect.

7 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 02/19/2013

Diver airbag light is always on. When taken for repairs code often differs. Authorized Suzuki dealership says that entire wiring system would need replaced for $3000, but could not guarantee that would fix it. . It can be cleared, but that is only effective for a few days. Light used to be intermittent, now it is constant. Authorized Suzuki dealership says when light is on, the air bag will not deploy. I've been forced to drive with this condition for 10k miles or more. My passenger seat had different airbag sensor problems. It has been replaced. Replacement of passenger seat did not affect driver side problem for better or worse.

8 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2007 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 02/06/2013

As others have related the air bag warning light(s) has appeared on my car also now. As others have written theirs was mainly the driver seat sensors failing. The minor difference of my issue is that both seats air bag warning lights came on and will not go away at the same time. This fact does add up to the sensors in each seat failing at exactly the same time. Suzuki repair departments are claiming individual seat sensor issues. Something else is wrong here and this should become a defect investigation before someone dies due to the air bags not deploying.

10 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 11/15/2012

Our airbag and seatbelt lights came on about a month or so ago and wouldn't go off. We made an appointment with the nearest Suzuki dealer which is about 100 miles away. At first they thought it had to do with the seat belt and agreed to a goodwill repair of this. We just came back from that appointment and found out that did not fix the problem and that we need to replace a sensor which will cost over 800. 00. They said the airbags would probably not deploy but couldn't be sure is one or both bags would not deploy. They will call the rep and see what they will do. This happened when we were just over 60,000 miles on the car. This is a safety issue and we can see that many people have the same problem. We hope it doesn't take a fatality for this to become a recall.

11 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 11/12/2012

I have an 2008 Suzuki Sx4 that runs great, however, at around 67,000 miles the airbag and seatbelt light came on. I paid $2000 for an extended warranty and this is not covered, even though it has to deal with the "computer" of the car-- which is covered. They say you need a new seat cover that costs you between $1000-$2000. It is ridiculous to pay $2000 for a warranty and that it is not covered since a seat cover will fix the problem even though it is listed under a "computer program" problem. I am concerned why this is not listened under a recall since it is a major defect in Suzuki Sx4s. It is also a major safety hazard because the airbag will not deploy if I was to get into a wreck.

12 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 04/05/2012

Vehicle rear ended causing a right hand spin resulting in a driver side down vehicle landing position in a 4 foot deep ditch at about 25 mph. Driver side air bag did not deploy and driver received shoulder injury and head hit on driver side pillar post between front and rear left hand doors. Updated ivoq 04/24/12.

13 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

Both the passenger seat belt light and air bag light came on and stayed on. I took the car to the local Suzuki dealer to have it checked. They told me it was a defective airbag sensor built into the passenger seat and it had to be replaced at a cost of $1000+ for the airbags to work again. They also told me this was a common problem. We purchased a newer vehicle for safety features such as multiple airbags and now do not have that protection because of a very expensive repair. We also purchased an extended warranty and found that this safety item was not covered. I have read many other complaints in online forums and blogs concerning this safety issue with this same model. I feel this is a huge safety concern since none of the airbags now work because of the defective sensor. I hope Suzuki doesn't wait until someone dies in an accident from the airbags not deploying because of this expensive and consistently defective part. I believe there should be a safety recall on this item.

14 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 02/04/2012

While driving, passenger air bag light started coming on while an adult passenger was in seat. After a couple of days, the passenger airbag light stayed on, so the airbag will not deploy.

15 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 12/09/2011

Passanger airbag lite stays on and the airbag indicater symbol on the speedometer remains on. We were told by the dealer that the air bags will not deploy with these indications. The problem was coded with a 10 driveability and said it would be $1100 for a new passanger seat cushion. This is clearly a safety issue and should be repaird by Suzuki. Failure at 40000 milesis not acceptable.

16 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 12/08/2011

This was the 2nd pretty major crash my car was in. Airbags did not deploy in either accident. Now my airbag light and seat belt light are on. From what I understand from online complaints this means my airbags don't work. I got this car brand new in 2008 loved the car till this issue. This needs to be a recall no reason people should have to drive a unsafe vehicle. I am very unhappy with Suzuki was lucky to not hurt.

17 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2007 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 11/16/2011

Air bag and seat blet lights constantly illuminated, because of faulty sensor. Seat(s) needs to be replaced or airbag will not deploy.

18 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2007 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 11/16/2011

Upon start-up the air bag indicator light and the passenger seat belt light are on persistently. This is whether or not someone is seated in the passenger seat. According to an on-line query, we found multiple entries (complaints) of other customers experiencing the same problem for 2007, 2008 and 2009 models. The culprit is a faulty sensor in the seat cushion. Thus far Suzuki has not addressed this issue, nor do they feel it is a safety concern. From what the dealership service manager indicated (and as stated on complaints we found) with the car in the current condition, our air bags will not deploy in the event of an accident. The dealership stated the estimate for repair of the seat cushion and seat belt assembly is $1700. 00. The dealership compared this repair to that of say an engine or transmission going out. They (both the dealership personnel and Suzuki corp. Customer service personnel) say it is fair to expect to pay for such repairs, after the warranty period. We feel this is a faulty component. We feel that it is wrong of Suzuki to expect car owners to pay for such repairs. We believe that this non-value added feature, now defective, is jeopardizing our lives. Since when did replacing seat cushions and seat belt assemblies become standard car repairs? since when is a faulty component that essentially disables the entire air-bag system deemed to be a simple repair issue and not a safety concern? we fail to see how this is the case. We fail to see how Suzuki can justify such statements.

19 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 03/28/2011

Passenger side air bag sensor indicates the module needs replaced. Cost to repair in the $1000's. Contacted Suzuki's customer service to utilize customer assistant program, they offered no help in paying for huge expense. It is my understanding that there are others Suzuki customers experiencing the same problem with the same result. My complaint t Suzuki is rated high in safety ratings and I wonder why the component is not covered by warranty, and how in good faith can they claim #1 safety ratings, when in fact if I were in an accident the passenger side air bags may or may not deploy? is this legal? I want this problem documented so that myself and others my benefit from the information.

20 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 03/16/2011

The contact owns a 2009 Suzuki Sx4. The contact stated the front passenger air bag light continued to illuminate stating the air bag would not deploy. There was a defect in the seat cushion where the air bag sensors are located. The dealer stated that he could not reprogram the sensors instead they had to replace the entire seat which cost $1,100. There are no recalls or warranties for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, stated there were no related recalls and offered no assistance. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 40,000.

21 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2007 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Sx4. The contact stated that after crashing into a deer, the passenger air bag warning lamp illuminated and the air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the passenger seat air bag sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 60,000.

22 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 03/11/2010

Air bags did not deploy and 30-40 miles per hour in wreck, car was totaled by insurance company, 2008 Suzuki sx-4, 28000 miles on car.

23 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 12/25/2009

My car's issue is that air bag light stays on. When I took the vehicle to the local Suzuki dealership to fix an other issue on brake system, the air bag light also had stayed on. The service mechanics saw the front panel of my car where the brake system light and airbag system lights were on. However, they did not warn me about it. If they had told me, the costs should have been covered by warranty. At that time, I did not know what the airbag light indicated (I. E. Airbag would not deploy when I got an accident) as a dealership where I purchased the car did not warn me about it although it already stayed on when I purchased it. This is a serious safety issue in terms of quality of service technicians and airbag system itself of Suzuki. This appears to be a known and wide spread issue with Suzuki Sx4 as I have seen multiple complaints, which are the same as my issue, on safecar. Gove and other websites. Furthermore, looking at those information, those cars had the issue at a quite early stage of car usage (e. G. When purchased and mileage), which indicates that the airbag system has a defect. This issue could lead serious injuries or dead so Suzuki should resolve it as soon as possible by either recalling the airbag system or extending the warranty so that car owners can fix it with no costs and saver our lives. Otherwise, car owners who could not afford the costs could not fix it. Also, car owners who are not familiar with airbag light/system would not pay attention to the dangerous situation. From that perspective, Suzuki should notify car owners about the issue immediately. I hope that NHTSA also would take the issue seriously, investigate it and give the necessary directions to Suzuki to save our nation of u. S. A 's lives from a defect airbag system.

24 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 12/02/2009

In November 2009, air bag error light came on and I took it to the dealership and the computer was reset. In December 2009, I was in an accident with a deer going 55 mph head on and the air bags did not deploy, which was noted on the accident report. After receiving the vehicle back after repairs were made with oem parts, the air bag error light came on again and I took it back to the dealer, who then reset the computer again. I am concerned.

25 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 10/14/2008

The contact owns a 2009 Suzuki Sx4. The contact stated that when anything was placed in the drivers side passenger seat, the air bag light illuminated which indicated that the air bag system has been deactivated. The dealer inspected the vehicle and determined that the battery failed. The battery was replaced and the computer system was reset. The contact has continuously experienced failures with the air bag system and has had the computer system reset multiple times. The manufacturer has not offered any resolutions for the failures. The dealer advised the contact that he should not place anything in the drivers side passenger seat. The contact stated that the failure could result in a crash and the air bags will not deploy. The failure mileage was 50 and the current mileage was 18,000.

26 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2007 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 05/30/2007

The front passenger weight sensor for the srs airbag system had been intermittently going on and off with someone in the seat and out of the seat. This began within 100 miles of ownership, and occurred very frequently. The dealer could never replicate this. They stated the system was designed to work that way even when a 300 lb. Tech was sitting in the seat and the light came on showing the airbag system off. The sensor is now completely out, and the airbag light is on along with the passenger seat belt indicator both stay lit continually. Now that the sensor is completely out I am outside of my 36,000 mile warranty and am now in my extended warranty I purchased at the time I bought the Sx4. The extended warranty will not cover a new sensor which has been quoted to me at $2,600. 00. They are sneaking through a loop hole that excludes the airbag system after an accident. In which they won't pay if the airbag has been deployed. I am now stuck with a car that has airbags that may or may not deploy at anytime. I was told chances are in an accident they will not deploy. This is a huge safety concern. I hope to never have an accident, but if you have a safety system you want it to work. This is a common problem for the Suzuki Sx4's. Very few Sx4's do not have this issue. And given long enough the airbag system will shut down if the sensor is not replaced, and if this happens outside of the manufacturer warranty your stuck driving a ticking time bomb. I simply hope I'm not driving down the road one day and the airbag system suddenly decides it's time to deploy. I love the car I just wish Suzuki would figure out what's wrong with their sensor fix it and replace it for all of us owners before someone gets seriously hurt from a lack of safety restraints.

27 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2007 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 02/28/2007

At random times, my passenger air bag light will come on while someone is sitting in the seat. The person will then have to move around in the seat to get the light to turn off. Sometimes it takes more than ten minutes. I have brought the complaint to a Suzuki dealership, and they claim that the problem is normal. I don't feel that this should be right, as if at the time the air bag light was on, and there were to be a accident, the air bag would not deploy, possibly causing great harm to the passenger I would have in the vehicle.
