Air bag warning light stayed on, and would not go off. Dealer found the cause to be " SC-60 open circuit b1312 ". Had to drive the car without working air bags until dealer could work on the car. Dealer replaced passenger side seat cushion assembly (no charge). Since the drivers side seat cushion was not replaced it might eventually fail just like the passengers side. Please have Suzuki recall these cars and replace all the front seat cushions, not just the ones that fail.

10 Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 07/10/2013

I would like to submit a claim on my 2009 Suzuki Sx4 due to the airbag warning light illumination with dtc code b1318 fault. This has caused both airbag warning lights, airbag off lights and seatbelt lights, to come on and not go off at various times. We were sent a letter from Suzuki acknowledged an airbag-related issues with front passenger seats on the vehicles for an open-circuit problem for the sensor mat that determines if an adult or child is sitting in the front seat. I called Suzuki customer service on 7/29/13 and spoke to brian. I informed brian that we purchased this vehicle due to my daughter's small stature in which she is under 5 feet tall and only weighs 90 pounds while having a valid indiana driver’s license. Her small stature has caused several errors with the passenger side airbag warning light to illuminate. The seat is not sensing her presence and sets off the warning light. Brian acknowledged that there was a problem but would not repair the vehicle. He stated that airbag issues are only covered under the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. I did not agree that an acknowledged issue with a safety related component failure due to a person’s small stature is the consumers responsibility. Brian also stated that our small stature daughter should not sit in the front passenger seat due to this vehicles issue.

11 Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 04/15/2013

My Suzuki sx-4 has shown an airbag warning light for just over two years. This began just shortly after the warranty period expired. I researched the problem online, and found that this is a common issue, and that most cases required a repair in excess of $1000. Recently, Suzuki issued a repair extension for the airbag system, but my situation conveniently does not qualify. Apparently, the diagnostic code is different from what Suzuki issued the extension for. I was told this morning by a Suzuki dealership that I must pay another $95 for diagnostics to find out what the diagnostic code means. This is not acceptable. I have tried talking to representatives at Suzuki's "customer relations" department, but to no avail. They insist that this issue is not covered under their repair extension, and that I must pay for additional testing, and repair in order to resolve this issue. My online research has revealed that this issue is widespread, and it should not be considered to be a normal wear and tear, out of warranty issue. This is a serious safety problem.

12 Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 07/13/2012

Purchased vehicle on 6/29/12. Airbag warning light came on two weeks later. Research indicates that my airbags are now disabled. Authorized Suzuki dealer/repair facility is 125 miles away. On line blogs and this website indicate problems with disconnect in seat sensor embedded within front passenger seat cushion. Suzuki will not cover costs to repair/replace seat cushion. Safety issue seams to be with all Suzuki Sx4's. How do we, the consumer, get american Suzuki to recall this airbag issue? 13 Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 05/30/2012

Airbag warning light comes on and stays on. This is apparently a known problem with Suzuki vehicles and there are multiple complaints online. I took the vehicle to the local Suzuki dealership, and the air bag sensor was reprogrammed. However, it still returns a b1311 code. Suzuki has extended their 3 yr 36000 mi warranty, but will not cover this code for some unknown reason. The only remedy is the replace the entire seat bottom at a cost of $1,100. Suzuki should recall its defective sensors, this is a serious safety issue as I've read that the airbags may not operate properly if the sensor is malfunctioning.

14 Warning Light On problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 05/09/2012

2008 Suzuki Sx4- took into dealership for complaint of ticking noise under the hood. After a $98 diagnostic fee they determined it needed a new engine because of bad rods due to oil starvation. After talking with service manager and dealership general manager both decided that repairs were not covered under 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. Also the air bag warning light stays on and it was also determined that the entire seat would have to be replaced in addition to the catalytic convertor being replaced due to bad oxygen sensor. I have proof of all maintance and service repairs to include oil changes etc. I requested a meeting with general manager and was assured that he would investigate situation and get back with me in a couple of days. It has been a week and only communication I have received is a text message on my cell phone stating that no part of the powertrain warranty would apply even though the powertrain warranty includes all things listed in diagnostic review of the car this is extremely unprofessional and shows that Suzuki does not stand by their products. 15 Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

Vehicle in dealer shop for safety inspection (new york). Dealer told of recall for mirror screws, gps battery, and passenger seat pad. I informed dealer of passenger air bag warning light on dash. The dealer told me they had to send the gps back to the factory, the screws for the mirror were on back order and the air bag light would cost me $85. 00 u. S. To update the program. Are air bags supplied by the manufacture not required to work 3000 miles out of warranty? if my wife gets in an accident and a passenger dies because of a defective program am I at fault? what is my recourse for this asinine service?.

17 Warning Light On problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 01/16/2012

The "passenger air bag light off" warning light came on while we were driving on a city street even thought a 170lb passenger was sitting in the passenger seat, wearing a seat belt. We were near the authorized Suzuki dealer in milford, CT where we bought the car a few weeks earlier, so I stopped in and informed the sales manager. He said to show the service dept. There was no one in service that had time to see the light on so I brought it in for service appt. They said there was no code when they scanned the car. We don't know if this problem is related to the static in the am radio when the headlights or awd lock is turned on or when the gps or phone is plugged in but I am told this is not an electrical lemon. I rode in another Sx4 and there was no static in the am radio. The next time the warning light came on, we took pictures and sent them to the finance rep. We also have a video of the light on and have since found complaints of this problem in the Suzuki forum. Perhaps its time for a recall before someone gets injured.

19 Warning Light On problem of the 2008 Suzuki SX4

Failure Date: 12/02/2011

I own a 2008 Suzuki Sx4. A few times the passenger air bag warning light has turned on. The problem usually is solved by unlocking and refastening the passenger seat belt. More recently, (actually last week) the air bag warning light turned on and has stayed on ever since. This is not an intermittent problem like the passenger air bag warning. I have seen a lot of owners of these vehicles, (years 2007 to 2009) complaining in the net about this life-threatening problem . Most of them refer to the b1061 and /or b1312 codes and their vehicles are out of the warranty period already. This leads me to think that we are talking about a design or manufacturing flaw in these vehicles and should be properly addressed by a recall campaign by the manufacturer and/or its representatives in this country. I understand these codes and warning lights prevent the air bags from being deployed during an accident and the cost of replacing the seat with the sensor can run up to $2,000 per seat.
