36 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2022 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 03/23/2022

Was in a tight parking space. The mirrors auto-folded in. The cameras seemed laggy when backing up to a significant degree. (many, many others on the web report the same. Any search for "Tesla backup camera delayed" or similar should work. ) in my case, my vehicle collided with a pole. Very concerned about this as a safety hazard.

37 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 03/19/2022

The auto cruise control brakes hard suddenly for no reason !! this puts the car in danger from vehicles behind me as the very unexpected slow down. Also, the blind spot warning has no audible and the car in next lane is too close beforeit turns red on the scree. It's not safe to turn your viewing to the screen from the road to change lanes. I drive the old fashioned way to be safe by looking over my shoulder before changing lanes.

38 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 03/01/2022

My blindspot warning cameras display gets completely washed out at night, (unable to view alongside my vehicle) whenever the directional blinker lights. This causes me to loose view of anything alongside my car. This only happens during darkness. This has been corrected in newer versions of the camera, but Tesla refuses to repair this under warranty. I was instructed to have the cameras replaced at my cost or to disable the feature. They refuse to fix this under warranty. I have included the complete correspondence with Tesla after requesting service.

39 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 02/20/2022

The Tesla rear facing repeater cameras show the driver's blind spot when changing lanes. The cameras are also used during automatic lane changes when the car is in drive-assisted (fsd) mode on the highway and in city (fsd beta). The cameras have a manufacturer defect. At night, light from the turn signal led is blinding a large part of the vision field of these cameras. This renders the blind spot vision for the driver but also the computer assisted automatic lane changes for the car partially obstructed. Tesla has acknowledged this defect by redesigning the rear facing cameras so the blinding is remedied. Tesla is refusing to fix this issue under warranty and requires owners to pay for this safety fix. Tesla's statement on this issue: "hi stephan! the blind spot camera performance on your vehicle is neither a defect of materials nor workmanship. It is a characteristic of the product. And it's a characteristic that has been design enhanced in newer vehicle production. If you wish to upgrade to newer camera technology, you have an option to purchase the upgraded cameras and have them installed. " I am having my cameras replaced, and will pay for it. I believe Tesla should, however, seeing how this is driver safety related even if they are unwilling to acknowledge this.

41 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2021 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 02/11/2022

Tesla offers a blind spot camera, standard on the vehicle, which activates automatically when the turn-signal is active on the appropriate side. The blind-spot camera feed appears on the center screen. The feed comes from each of the side cameras mounted to the external portion of the car. Since the side turn-signal is mounted right above the same blind-spot cameras, the light from the turn-signal often 'bleeds' into the camera feed used by the driver to determine if the appropriate lane is clear. At night, this causes the blind-spot camera video difficult to view since the video feed alternates between 'normal' video and a bright, flushed out video, matching the turn-signal timer. The end result is often times I, the driver having difficulty observing cars on the side of my vehicle at night. More specifically, several times I have missed the headlights of cars in the lane next to me because the turn signal light, bleeding into the camera feed, obscure or hides the car and/or headlights (since they driver's eyes have to chateaubriand adjust between a bright andrark video feed flashing). This causes me to start merging into a lane which I believe is clear, only to have to quickly swerve back into my original lane when I realize the lane is not clear. Both the driver in the new lane and myself are put at risk, unnecessarily when this occurs. I have reached out to the manufacturer for this complaint. In writing, they have admitted this is a problem and even though my car is only 10 months into a 4 year warranty, they will only fix this safety issue if I pay for a replacement part. This seems unacceptable to me to force customers to pay for a safety fix. The failed component is available for inspection. I have sample video available to demonstrate the problem. There are no warning lights for any components. The manufacturer does not need to inspect the component since they already know, and admit to the shortcomings, per my written conversation with them.

42 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 02/06/2022

Tesla Model 3 has side repeater cameras that work as blind spot monitor cameras and provide visuals for safe lane changes. However, my Model 3 suffers from a manufacturing defect in the camera assembly which causes the visuals to wash out at night due to light bleed from the turn signal. This caused an unsafe condition where I almost ran into a car in my blindspot being unable to see them on the camera visual. I raised the issue with service and they do not consider it a manufacturing defect. . Read more...

43 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 02/01/2022

Tesla introduced blind spot camera availability with the release of version 11 software. When the driver switches lanes while in autopilot by engaging the turn signal stock at night, the built in turn signal led above the repeater camera blinds the camera by washing out and degrading the camera picture as the turn signal led turns on and off. This has been remedied in newer model year cars as shown in the following youtube video-- https://youtu. Be/_bupsjguqdy this is a safety hazard to vehicle occupants as well as the driver of the vehicle as the repeater camera is being blinded by the turn signal led.

44 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2019 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 01/17/2022

Automatically activated blind spot camera system view is filled over 50% with glare from blinker while driving at night. This renders the driver safety feature unusable during nighttime driving and creates additional driver distraction with the bright light flashing on the vehicle display every time the turn signal is activated at all driving speeds.

45 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 01/10/2022

At night the camera feed turns bright orange with turn signal blocking the over half of the view.

46 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 12/10/2021

Side fender cameras quit working intermittently. Tesla repair tech said they need to be replaced and he's been replacing "hundreds" of them.

47 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 09/28/2021

Tesla Model 3 (and other models) comes equipped with side cameras on the vehicle's b-pillars. Tesla has designed these components to allow cabin air to infiltrate the space between the cameras and the exterior glass. Of course, this means that humid cabin air will condense on the glass when ambient conditions cool the glass enough. This blocks the cameras, causing certain features (e. G. Blind spot camera, auto lane change, lane keeping assist) to stop functioning. These features have been actively advertised by Tesla and sold for thousands of dollars as software upgrades, but do not reliably function because of this design flaw. As can be seen on many internet forums (e. G. Https://teslamotorsclub. Com/tmc/threads/b-pillar-cameras-fogging-up. 172226/page-8), this issue has been known for years, yet Tesla has provided no fix for the problem. As recently as Sep 2022, their service centers are still telling customers to run cabin heat to eliminate condensation, but the cameras are well insulated, thermally, from the cabin (see page 2 infrared pics https://teslamotorsclub. Com/tmc/threads/camera-condensation. 168472/page-2), so this does almost nothing, while potentially overheating the occupants. After 3-4 years, it is clear that Tesla is not interested in taking this design flaw seriously, and will only act if forced by safety regulators. This is an integral part of what Tesla has marketed as their cars being "safer than humans", and it's unable to cope with normal weather conditions (I live in seattle, wa and routinely see this in temps as high as mid-50s to low-60s).

48 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 09/20/2021

The car tart to have sudden unintended acceleration at low speed after fully charge. The car will stop at the road suddenly. Leave car and back. The ac run for 1 min and shut down. I heard a sound which is from battery switch. 9/21, 11:15 am it happened again. I hear a sound and the car show alert. “”pull over safely” — the autopilot system will slow down a lot passing a bride, even there is no car in the road.

49 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 09/16/2021

Unknown.

50 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 08/16/2021

I bought the standard autopilot for 2 Model 3si find it highly useful. It keeps me in the middle of my lane. Warns me with loud signal and bright red car marking of cars in my blind spot if it is dangerous to change lanes. Allows me to see clearly all cars around me. It will not allow me to drive without my hands putting active pressure on the steering wheel. I feel that it makes driving much much safer. Driver still needs to pay attention with active pressure on steering wheel. I drive 30,000 miles per year. I paid $3000 extra to buy the autopilot after not having it for the first 6 months. It was well worth the cost. Should be a standard feature on all new cars!!! my wife who drives my other Model 3 has had the same experience.

51 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2021 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 02/01/2021

Tesla Model 3, while driving will report a left/right column camera, is obstructed do to condensation on the inside of the camera cover. While driving on this interrupts advanced driver assistance systems such as auto lane change, blind-spot detection, and lane departure warning. This has me concerned about the safety of the adas features as condensation has impeded functionality multiple times while using the feature driving at highway speeds.

52 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2019 Tesla Model 3

Failure Date: 11/20/2020

B pillar cameras tend to get condensation in them causing them to work intermittently. This has been reported to Tesla service in rockville, MD, to no effect. According to Tesla, they do not have a solution for it, yet the cameras continue to intermittently fail to provide coverage, especially in weather conditions when they are most needed. Usually, the car is in motion when this issue arises and while driving at highway speeds.
