The contact owns 2017 Tesla Model S. The contact stated that the manufacturer had sent a recall letter to repair the front hood latch while at the dealer the contact had noted that the rear safety trunk latch does not release. The contact stated that the "trunk open" warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the interior trunk release does not work due to being connected to the trunk release actuator. The contact took the vehicle to local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the trunk actuator to be replaced, but the manual interior trunk release does not work. The vehicle was not repaired, the contact purchased the trunk actuator, but the remedy will not fix issue with interior pull release cord. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure via email. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.
