36 Power Train problem of the 2017 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 01/01/2021

Car shudders at the acceleration. Service center said it’s a widely known issue with front half shaft and clevis mount. Tesla already admits it is a design fault but wouldn’t cover it under the drive unit warranty. Can NHTSA make it a recall? thanks.

37 Power Train problem of the 2017 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 11/16/2020

I'm not from the us, but want to let you know that there are also safety problems with Model X cars in europe. My car, a Tesla x from April 2017 with 93. 682 kilometers driven broke down with a broken suspension part. The wheel was moving for- and backwards compared to the vehicle. Tesla cals the part fore link assy lh (1041570-00-b). When parking the car in reverse, the front a the car came up for 5 centimeters. It happened also driving slowly forward. The big ring on the end of this part (the site that is connected close to the wheel) was completely torn open. Tesla also had to replace the left and right fr susp aft link assy because of "wear and tear". Upper control arm were already replaced in June 2020. Rear motor replaced januari 2018, electronics for opening front doors replaced in March 2020, new power steering April 2020. I like you to invite the also look at suspension safety issues in europe with the Model X and s. These issues have nothing to do with road conditions, we have very nice smooth roads here in the netherlands. I made a video of the movement of the front left wheel.

38 Power Train problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 10/08/2020

The vehicle started taking longer to start up about a few months ago. Then the system needed to be rebooted on a regular basis to be functional. At one point the main screen that controls all the safety and visibility features of the vehicle stopped working and the vehicle would take up to 5 minutes to start up. After doing some research this is a common issue with Tesla's older than 2018 where they encounter an "emmc failure" of the mcu. The defect of the mcu was addressed when Tesla replaced the mcu in its vehicles in 2018. This should be treated as a recall due to the design flaw of the manufacturer. The mcu controls all the safety features of the vehicle and the rear view camera. Without the mcu it makes it extremely difficult to have the visibility needed to go in reverse.

39 Power Train problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 06/09/2020

The mcu (the car's center screen) would not turn on. The center screen controls everything in the car including all the updates. Since the center screen didn't work, and update was not able to pass through, and it essentially made the car not drivable. The car was in the turn off mode and would not turn on.

40 Power Train problem of the 2020 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 04/20/2020

Upon accelerating the front end bounces and vibrates unsafely. Tesla is aware of the faulty dangerous design, yet they continue to sell their Model X without disclosing to purchaser. Additionally, they refuse to repair the vehicle, indicating that new front half axles will only temporarily solve the issue. The bounce happens when starting from a complete stop or often when accelerating from one speed to another. The bounce has been happening since April but repeated repair requests to Tesla have been refused.

41 Power Train problem of the 2020 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 04/05/2020

When pulling into a parking space the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated causing the vehicle to jump the parking curb and strike a retaining wall. I have the video from the car. While turning right into an available parking spot, I was about 80% into the spot when the vehicle surged.

42 Power Train problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 11/19/2019

Mcu computer has failed multiple times, including one time, middle of a very hot summer day, turning on high heat and rolling up windows, until computer rebooted (seemed like forever), while on the freeway. Tesla later notified us of a recall of the mcu, but repeatedly denied our claim, even though they admitted the mcu was the culprit, "just 'cause". The steering is greatly affected by front motor and its half-shafts. Had repaired right before warranty expired, but the problem remained. Tesla techs all warned us that it would happen again, which it did shortly after, and Tesla refused to repair it again, except to replace the failed components with identical components, all at our cost (thousands of dollars). Tesla techs said that the problem was a notoriously bad design of the half-shafts. They said it was fixed in newer front drive units, but that our only option was to keep replacing the defectively designed parts. When it has this problem, the car wants to steer left or right, but never straight ahead, and can pull suddenly to one side, making driver appear to be drunk from the sudden left-right-left-right motions. Tesla experts have told us that the only fix is to buy a new Tesla.

43 Power Train problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 10/23/2019

Pulling into a parking place the car accelerated out of control even though the brake was pressed.

44 Power Train problem of the 2017 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 08/03/2019

Tesla Model X p100d the accelerator pedal snapped in half. Was at a dead stop and did a full acceleration run. Car was going about 30 mph and just stopped accelerating. I pulled over to shoulder and stopped. Wasn't quite sure what had happened at first then saw the pedal laying on the floor. Highway exit ramp.

45 Power Train problem of the 2017 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 06/03/2018

I was driving home in my Model X on lawrence expressway (8-lane expressway) in santa clara, CA and stopped at the red light. When the light turned green, I pushed on the gas and noticed that the car did not move and put itself into park. I could not put the car into gear. The main screen flashed several warnings that included: park assist unavailable automatic emergency braking disabled. Car needs service traction control disabled. Stability control disabled. I put on the blinkers, called Tesla roadside and they asked that I restart the vehicle by holding the 2 control buttons on the steering wheel, however by doing so, would stop the blinkers from blinking. I felt that would've been unsafe because I was in lane 2 heading southbound on an 8-lane expressway, and cars were coming from behind me pretty fast. Roadside asked that I call 911, which I did, and they then sent a tow truck to get me out of my situation. Video of what happened located here https://youtu. Be/9i9sghtmd7c.

46 Power Train problem of the 2017 Tesla Model X

2017 Tesla Model X: VIN# [xxx] we want to clarify the powertrain of this VIN # is 90d or 100d; as the VIN decode website indicated that the powertrain is 90d; but the final contract stated it's 100d; so the price difference is us$3. 5k to us$7. 5k higher. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

47 Power Train problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 11/30/2016

The suspension (the front half shaft) has repeatedly failed and has been replaced multiple times by Tesla. First it was replaced under warranty and now we are paying for it as it is no longer covered under the warranty. The part failure is a safety concern as it has lead to unstable handling, nearly resulting in a crash several times. The parts have always been discarded by Tesla but a full explanation of the problem is here: https://n2itive. Me/ no warning lamps or messages appear as it happens every time you accelerate, and sometimes the vibrations are so severe that it affects the handling of the vehicle severely.
