Carlos and george of kings of cars work (323) 213-3845 mobile +1 323-503-3983 home 5911 e. Olympic blvd los angeles , CA 90022 they sold me this car with odometer reading 84,000 miles around March 2018. . . After 2 weeks car was shaking and not turning properly, and steering wheel was bouncing when driving. . . Took it to my mechanic, they had me replace all 4 tires, realigned, balance and back brakes. 2 months later, problem reappeared and worst. Took it back to george, he got his mechanic do same thing again, plus replaces front bakes, 2 months later took it to Toyota for a air bag safety recall, while there I asked Toyota to look into this issue, Toyota found out from running their carfax report that this same vehicle was recorded several times at mechanics with last recorded mileage in 2017 of 194,000 miles, Toyota urged me to return car to george king car because more safety issues might be present since car having balancing issues and virring off the road. Car was returned onn8/18/2018, unfortunately george claimed no knowledge of issue and car will be dealt with. In January 2019 to may 2019 I received several parking tickets in places I have never been plus dmv sent me notice they were suspending license 6rru625 for not having insurance, car still in my name. Since new, I have documented at least 20 occurrences of lack of acceleration, several times almost resulting in an accident. All occurrences happen from a stopped position, then applying at least half accelerator pedal, the truck will initially accelerate, then pause for several seconds, very scary when crossing traffic or going through an intersection. Happens on turns and when going straight.

Driver's side tail light assembly shorted out while driving.
I have a 2015 4runner (VIN: jtebu5jr5f5276737) I purchased brand new. It currently has less than 50k miles on it. A few weeks ago it started periodically going into limp mode while driving at highway speeds. My two toddlers were in the vehicle the first time this happened; I almost lost control since the tractional control disabled concurrently. I took the vehicle to multiple mechanics who confirmed the diagnostic code p2445 (secondary air injection pump). I was shocked to hear this because the vehicle is relatively new and exceptionally well maintained. I looked online and the failure of this component appears to be a systemic issue with Toyota 4runners and tacomas. The fact that this component failed aftera short duration in such a sudden and violent way is very dangerous. I submitted a formal complaint to Toyota and they denied knoweledge of this issues despite hundreds of folks reporting identical problems on their 4runners & tacomas. For a nominal fee per vehicle Toyota could fix this issue, which also has environmental implications, but instead they are being disengenous and denying this major systemic safety hazzard.

I was driving my truck on a city street in brooklyn, new york ( flatbush Ave) when I suddenly smelled smoke followed by fire coming from the hood. I did not hit any bump and was not involved in any accident. By the time the fire department came, the entire front compartment of the truck was on fire.

I'm experiencing major frame rust mainly at the crossbeams and all over the frame. Metal is literally crumbling away if I touch if. I don't even want to remove the rust to prepare for anti-rust coating since there may not be much metal left. Its only at 150k miles and shouldnt be crumbling away this fast. Just recently had to replace muffler and tailpipe since the muffle connection literally rusted away. Tacomas were able to have their frames replaces. The 4runner has a similar if not identical frame due to them sharing the same underlying platform. This should be pretty obvious that 4runners need to be a part of that recall.

Secondary air pump failure due to defective design. Toyota has acknowledged this as a defective installation on the sequoia and tundra models with an identical engine installation as the 4runner; but refuses to repair/retrofit the 4runner device. Result is loss of power which could result on vehicle accident.

2005 Toyota 4runner 4. 7l v8. "check engine" and vsc trac. Codes 1441, 1444 and 2440. Toyota knows they put a faulty secondary air injection system in the v8 engines for a number of years, and now they want $2200 to fix the problem. If the faulty valve sticks open, the vehicle will automatically go into "limp mode" with a maximum speed well below safe travel speeds on highways and interstates, creating a safety hazard for occupants and others on the road. Toyota did a recall on other models with the same engine, but nothing for the 4runner. This is a know issue with the v8 engine, and they are covering the repair for sequoias and tundras with the same engine.
Engiene/powertrain computer/module checked. Has been rescheduled four times by the dealer and continues to give the same fault in the car. The fault is the following as it runs and brakes the second beautifulness of the trasmission is left. And when he releases the brake a little, the throat is thrown to the front giving a blow. He does it many times in the day. By untoyota 4runner 08 engine control module (ecm) defective.
Tl the contact owns a 2007 Toyota 4runner. The contact stated that the check engine and vehicle stability control warning indicators illuminated periodically. The vehicle was taken to seeger Toyota (12833 olive blvd, st. Louis, mo 63141, (314) 434-5000) where it was diagnosed that the air pump, valves 1 and 2, and the gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.

My truck has had a sulphur smell for a long while. I was advised that there is a service bulletin on it. T-sb-0346-09. I contacted Toyota and received a case # from susan on August 28,2017. That # is 1708280670. She advised me that I am 3,000 miles past the milage that Toyota accepts. This is an emission issue and I feel that they should assist in the replacement cost. The service bulletin has Toyota replacing a front and rear pipe assembly which includes catalytic converters. The issue has been known for a while and they should have recalled this system not waited for people to complain. By not recalling it they avoid making legitimate emission/engine repairs. The sulphur smell now happens most of time that I drive it now. I do not know what else that I can do. The Toyota dealer had advised me to contact Toyota.
2005 Toyota 4runner 4. 7l v8. "check engine" and vsc trac. Codes 1441, 1444 and 2440 vehicle went into limp mode on the highway and I was unable to accelerate about 20 mph on a 70 mph highway. Major safety issue. This is a known issue with the Toyota v8 but Toyota is not covering the 4runner but is covering the same engine part in the tundra. The mechanic knew exactly what the problem was and sees it all the time. Repair is $2,000 with no reimbursement from Toyota.
The rust and corrosion underneath the vehicle continually gets worse year after year. The main components of vehicle relating to the engine, powertrain and suspension underneath vehicle are corroded; holes exist in the frame of the truck through out. The frame of truck is rotted due to not being sealed properly during the manufacturing process. Due to the rust and corrosion on the frame of truck, it is impossible to get work done on exhaust and muffler areas. I will send pictures for your reference. This makes driving a safety concern for myself and my son. At this time, I am unable to purchase a new car and do not have money to replace/fix the frame of truck. Inevitably, this problem will get worse and may cause a safety concern for myself and others on the road. I called Toyota on 4/12/22 and was told that there is not a recall for this issue and that any repairs would have to be paid by me. I then proceeded to call the number given to me by the representative to call 800-331-4331 for the Toyota corporate office. I spoke to blake who gave me the same answer, there was not a recall on this vehicle for rust/corrosion on the frame of vehicle. At this time, Toyota charges $150 just to check car and unfortunately, I don't have those funds to pay such a fee. I asked blake if there was a way, Toyota can check without charging a fee and his answer was no. Currently, there is not any warning lights on, but with increased time and pressure of exhaust pipe and muffler will create more problems. I cannot have the exhaust system fixed until the frame of truck is replaced. My car was checked by an independent shop.
Toyota knowingly uses a soy based wire coating that attracts rodents. Something chewed through the wiring harness making my vehicle shake uncontrollably and act very strange. This is a huge safety concern because what if the damage was only partial and then through normal use like highway driving the wire fully comes apart disrupting any and all safety features.
Blown head gasket on 3. 0 v-6.
Bought a used 2016 4runner. Had it 3 weeks and a rodent chewed the wires on the main wiring harness. Toyota (that I have 2 warranties through) does not cover rodent damage even though the material that they use attracts rodents apparently from my research. I have $3500-$5500 in damage and my car has been at the dealership waiting for repair for 3 weeks now. The insurance company is fighting them on the repair and I am stuck without the vehicle. I do not have that kind of money to repair it myself. Toyota should be responsible for repairing and replacing the wires that they used since it is encouraging the damage! the vehicle was sitting in my carport. I live in the nicer part of a large town.
Blown head gasket at 150k miles. Potential to overheat to overheat while in operation leaving the passengers stranded or start an engine fire. Every local mechanic shop I received estimates from in knoxville was very familiar with this issue for this model year and the internet forum searches have hundreds of complaints for this same issue. No recall has been issued for this problem.

2016 Toyota 4runner with less than 5000 miles every once in a while I have noticed a lack of response to throttle when making a right hand turn. By this I mean no increase in engine rpm's proportional to throttle position. I have shrugged it off as my imagination. Now I have had two occasions where after coming to a stop at a stop sign on a steep incline where when I released the brake pedal and stepped on gas the vehicle rolled back even though I had at least 1/4 throttle applied. Not a good situation if there is a vehicle behind you.
Got code p2440 and was quoted 2000. For repair and only just 47107 miles.

Blown head gasket with 130,000 miles. Blown near the number 6 cylinder (like everyone else). Cost $3700 for repairs.
Tl the contact owns a 2004 Toyota 4runner. The contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated when the vehicle was started and remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to big island Toyota kailua-kona (808-329-8517, located at 74-5504 kaiwi st, kailua, hi 96740) to be diagnosed, but the failure recurred. The contact also stated that the brake fluid level was above normal. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
This vehicle is junk. Has no power, excessive vibration, constant ticking, all over the road, cruise control speeds up uncontrollably, sits lopsided, extremely loud, brakes and steering lock up. ,lacks heat, poor visibility . All these and more occurr while starting and driving vehicle.
Stationary on startup - my 2005 Toyota has been rendered worthless because of a factory defect in the blower fan that only runs when cold starting the engine. It triggers the "limp home" mode in the vehicle which overrides transmission shifting and makes the vehicle unsafe to drive. The error code for this problem is p0418 secondary air injection system relay. This is a well-known problem and has occurred in many, many of the Toyota 4. 7 l engines in different vehicles. Toyota is aware of this defect in this/these part(s). This could not be predicted or prevented by servicing the vehicle at regular intervals, or any other method of typical consumer maintenance. The price for repair is in the $3-thousand dollar range. This was not a consumer neglect item. Toyota has a part in their engine that is defective, and they know that. I do not have that kind of money for this vehicle, so I use a computer to reset the code until this gets resolved, or the vehicle completely shuts down.
Toyota 4runner 1995 blown head gaskets.
Since I got the car, the ignition key does not get in properly and sometimes does not start the car. The movement of the wheel helps sometimes. There have also been leaking engine covers that needed to be replaced. The structure gets rusty and there is problem with transmission.
Event occurred at start up. Warning lights >>> check engine, vsc trac, and trac off. Per Toyota dealership >>> found head gasket allowing antifreeze to leak into cylinder 6 causing p0306 replaced both head gaskets cost $2644. 91.
Vehicle engine light and other lights came on, took to dealer and told me code was po306 code was diagnosed stating there is a misfire in cylinder #6 resulting in a head gasket problem of coolant entering the cylinder & it would cost me 3000 to 5000 dollars to fix. Every time I start car in morning the car has a rough shacking start until warmed up, my car has 135000 miles & reviewing online this is a common problem with this engine around or after 120000 miles and that their are hundreds of complaints with the exact same issue I am having. Please can one get help in getting Toyota accountable for a problem they surely know about as well as because I am not the first and probably not the last on complaining about this issue & that this is not a normal problem for this engine it is a manufactures defect.
Replaced engine with a rebuilt on, because engine bad design. Oil passages too small . No help from Toyota who designed and made the engine. Damaged occurred over time: sludge build up, gritty sludge.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Toyota 4runner. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle started jerking and the gas pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not accelerate. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle emission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000. The VIN was unavailable. Sg.

Toyota uses new green (environment friendly) wiring that is tasty to rodents and other pest- they are aware that it can attract animals to eat the wiring and electrical systems on their vehicles and refuse to cover the damages incurred on the warranty - they refer the customers to seek monetary aide from their insurance company - in my case it was $3000. 00 in damages to my vehicle for a rat eating the wires /electrical system. My insurance paid for it - but how can I be assured it will not occur again. ?? Toyota needs to be responsible.
The contact owns a 2001 Toyota 4runner. While driving approximately 35 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated and the traction control became disabled. The dealer stated that the programming of the computer needed to be reconfigured. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
The secondary air induction pump (aip) and switching valves failed on my 2006 4runner limited with v8. This is the same issue that is seen on Toyota sequoias and tundras. Toyota has issued a special extended warranty for this system on those vehicles, but not on the 4 runners, even though the defective systems / parts are the same. Toyota customer case # 1409160408. This is a > $2000 repair to basically clear the check engine code and allow me to pass state inspection. I believe there should be a recall on this system or at least have Toyota cover all vehicles with this defective system, not just certain higher-volume model years.

The contact owns a 2005 Toyota 4runner. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and failed to slow down when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact mentioned that after shifting in neutral the vehicle slowed down. The vehicle was then maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was shut off. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and then to the dealer. The mechanic noticed metal fragments in the engine oil. The contact was made aware that the vehicle was included in recall NHTSA campaign id number: 11v113000 (vehicle speed control). However, the contact did not receive a recall notification prior to the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
