1 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2017

#15v043 the airbag indicator light blinking, never stops, whether driving or parked. I purchased this car used, in maryland, where it passed their inspection and will pass my inspection in pennsylvania, but does concern me. I sold my 1999 Toyota Avalon xl to my granddaughter and never had this problem. According to the car fax this vehicle never got a recall, but got the recall # from the internet. Seems this is a problem that the Toyota Avalon has, along with many other vehicles.

2 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2016

Airbag light came on and spent 2000 dollars at don mcgill Toyota to have drivers side airbag replaced. About a 1000 miles ( 3 months) later, the light is back on with the same code. Dealer so far is unable to find the problem. This is a reoccurring problem. I am concerned about inadvertent airbag deployment as well as losing the use of my car while the dealer tries to figure out the problem. I think they are just throwing expensive parts at it hoping something works,.

3 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2016

Car was taken in 05/2016 for recall work to replace srs and ecu. After recall repair, intermittent pax side airbag light flashes on and off saying passenger airbag issue. Dealer refuses to do more than specified recall replacement. We now cannot tell if we have airbags that will work and if the restraint system will tension the seat belts in an accident. The additional issue is that the front springs and struts have a flaw that makes a well aligned car, pull left. We are replacing this Toyota flaw at our own expense despite the presence of a service notice.

4 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2016

"takata recall: in August of 2009 the airbag light came on while driving; I took car to Toyota dealer ,technician road tested the car and said the airbag light did not come on. The airbags light continued coming on at different times, but did not stay on constantly. In July of 2014 I received a recall notice from Toyota, remedy was done, on January 06,2015. This remedy did not work so I was notified in March 2016 that a remedy was ready, and to take my car to the Toyota dealer and the remedy would be installed. Since April 07, 2016 my car has been in and out of the dealership because the airbag light is still coming on especially during warm weather, I got my car back from the Toyota dealership on April 28. 2016 for the second time, drove it on the weekend about 64 miles round trip the airbag light came on and off to and from my trip. My car has approx. 103,900 miles but the problem started before that mileage and Toyota did not say it was due to how many miles the car had been driven.

5 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2016

Toyota has issued a recall for the supplemental restraint system and electronic control unit in March 2015. My car's airbag light is illuminated intermittently and the Toyota dealer recommends the ecu be replaced. I have been in contact with Toyota and my call has been escalated several times but they still are not fixing my car. Toyota says that there is no remedy available. I am very concerned about my airbags deploying accidentally. I do not feel that Toyota is taking my safety or my family's safety seriously. The recall I received clearly states that they know how to fix the problem "replacement of the srs ecu is now also required for this safety recall to be complete," it just seems that they won't. It has been almost a year that I have been driving a car in which I am not confident. Please make Toyota execute this recall in a more timely manner.

6 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2015

"takata recall" I was notified in January 2015 of additional recall by Toyota. The eog work was done previously. Now the airbag light intermittently goes on and off when traveling with a front seat passenger only. The light does not go on when driven by just the driver and no front passenger. My wife will no longer ride in the vehicle out of fear of air bag deploying. Have heard nothing from Toyota instructing us to bring vehicle to dealer for recall work. The January 2015 notice of recall stated we would be contacted when the parts to fix airbag issue would be available. My mechanic could not find evidence of problems when he checked error codes on vehicle, however the airbag light goes on and off intermittently when traveling with a front seat passenger. We would like the issue addressed promptly by Toyota.

9 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2015

The air bag warning indicator of my car lights up on a regular basis. The vehicle owner's manual states clearly that if this happens, the vehicle must be taken to a Toyota dealer for service. I took the vehicle to a local Toyota dealer, and the service representative informed me that they could solve that problem by replacing the air bag control module, or by changing the cable that connects the module to the accompanying air bag devices. Because the service department didn't have a replacement control module available, they replaced only the connecting cable. After the visit to the dealer, the air bag warning indicator didn't light. However, a few weeks later, the warning indicator began lighting occasionally, and as time passed, the indicator again began lighting regularly. When I called the Toyota dealer to report this condition, the dealer told me to call Toyota directly for more information. The representative at Toyota said that they had issues a recall notice, but a solution to the problem wasn't available, and they would notify me when it became available. In the meantime, I continue to see the air bag warning indicator lamp lighting almost all the time. I am very concerned that Toyota is attempting to avoid the cost of replacing the defective air bag control modules, and instead trying to find a less expensive alternative. I find this behavior dangerous on the part of Toyota and want them to own up to the issue and provide a timely solution to this dangerous situation.

10 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2015

The airbag light intermittently goes on and off.

11 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2014

I took my car to herrin-gear Toyota scion on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 6100 I-55 north in jackson, ms to fix the recall notice for the supplemental restraint system (srs) electronic control module replaced. On the drive home I noticed the airbag light coming on and off so I took it back to the them on Friday, November 14, 2014. I was told by laura faulkner, advisor in the service department, that the part they had put on Wednesday was defective and they would have to order it and it would be a week or two before the part came in. So, in the meantime, I am still driving my car with the airbag issue still not repaired and I don't know definitely when it will be fixed.

12 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2014

I took my car to haley Toyota on hull street in richmond virginia for the air bag recall. . . . They so call fixed the air bag issue and then said when they put the car back together the airbag light stays on and they dont know where it was coming from. After some research they said that it was the wiring harness that was the problem. My air bag light was never on prior to me bringing them my car. They are trying to charge me $1400. 00 for repairs. The recall was for the air bag and if the light stays on then they need to fix it. I contacted Toyota corporate office and they said the only thing they can do is to offer me $500. 00 toward the repair but I would have to pay up front and send in the documentation and then I would only be reimbursed the $500. I dont feel like I should have to pay them anything because I feel like the mechanic did something for the air bag light to stay on. He said that maybe some wires got crossed or connectors got moist and try to put it on me. I brought the car from that dealership and havent done anything to the car since I got it but keep up the maintenance. The recall is for the air bag and if the air bag light continues to stay on they need to fix it. They have had my car for two weeks now. I need help getting this resolved.

23 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

Our Avalon has about 46,000 miles on it and has been doing the following for the last 10,000; passenger-side airbag light/fault indicator intermittently comes on while driving at any speed. This may go for days or weeks without happening, and then happen several times a day. Indicator may come fully on or only dimly on, for seconds or for minutes. It appears that going over a bumpy road will trigger the light going on or off. The vehicle was brought to the watertown MA Toyota dealer for analysis in October 2010 and to the woburn MA Toyota dealer on January 16 2012. The indicator did not come on while at either dealer who said they could not find anything wrong and that we need to bring the vehicle to them when the airbag light is on. This is impossible because neither dealer is close to our home and the light goes on and off so intermittently. The January 2012 visit to the woburn MA Toyota dealer included running a diagnostic test that did not find anything wrong but said it could possibly be that the airbag wiring had gotten wet at one point and this was the result. The dealer advised us to see if the problem is worse when it rains. (it is not. ) both dealers said if the indicator is on then the airbag system is not working properly, which is very concerning to us. A local mechanic also removed the front seat from the car to check the airbag wiring beneath the seat; they did not find any problems. On February 7, 2012, the airbag light went on and we were able to get to the local mechanic with it still on. The mechanic immediately put on the scanning tool and no diagnostic codes showed even though the light was on. He tapped on the airbag panel above the passenger glove compartment and the diagnostic codes starting appearing on his scanner. Based on the scan results, he said that the passenger airbag is faulty and needs to be replaced.
