Picked up the car on 12/31/01 without any problems. Beginning 1/2/02, the front passenger srs warning light flashed on an off intermittently. Took to dealer 1/3/02. They determined that the wiring had been incorrectly routed under the front passenger bucket seat and had become crimped when the power seat was moved. The dealer is making the repairs which includes removal of the front passenger bucket seat. I am pleased with their response, but concerned that such a problem could occur and that there may very well be more cars with the same problem.

My car was stopped and then hit directly in the back by a vehicle going approx. 45 miles per hour. On impact, the passenger front seat fully reclined resulting in injury to occupant and if there was an occupant on that side in the rear seat, that occupant would have had crushed legs. Toyota needs to know that this is a problem. Occupant suffers back muscle injury from defect. Bigger injuries could have resulted if someone else was in the rear passenger seat.

Driver's seat moves when vehicle turns left or right. Movement is disruptive and could lead to an accident. I notified Toyota of the situation at the 5k service and have escalated the problem with their customer service center. Refer to case# 199904211159. I have had repeated conversations with Toyota but none have lead to resolving the movement of the driver's seat.
