So in my 2007 Toyota Camry my windshield that had no chips and was in perfect condition. And parked in a parking lot. I was sitting in my car about to get out when I watched the windshield crack by itself independently nothing hitting it no chips or imperfections to make it crack no sounds nothing it started on the passenger side in a spiderweb fashion and cracked all the way across my windshield and keeps continuing to spiderweb across the entire windshild there was no chips initially nothing hit it no pressure after talking to several professionals they also can not see a reason for the cracked windshield states it looks like it cracked from the center out. I researched and found I'm not the only person this has happened to on this make and model car.

Dashboard is sticky and cracked in multiple places much like that on the sienna when it had a problem. It is our son's car that we drove for the first time in a while so we do not know the date the problem started.

The dash began to have small cracking a few years ago but I didn't think much of it but just this month the cracks enlarged and spread. I looked on line to see if others were having a problem and many people had. I phoned Toyota 800-331-4331 and described the problem. They told me that they had a recall program but it expired may 31 2017 and they can't do anything about it now. They said they sent me a letter via us mail but I told them I never received it nor was I aware of their recall program. She also said if my dealership had noticed it they could have told me about it. I had my car in the dealership 12/2017 and they never mentioned anything about a recall program. I get my oil changed somewhere else closer to home and didn't have my car in to the dealer since 12/2017 so the Toyota support person told me there is nothing they have to do for me now. I feel Toyota never notified me about this recall program and would like them to fix or replace my dash board.

I have been dealing with this sticky, cracking dashboard for 2 years now and it progressively gets worse each summer. It started out a little tacky when it had gotten hot from the summer heat and it has progressed to a sticky, gooey mess that cannot be properly cleaned. It reminds me of those old auburn colored fly strips we used to hang from the ceiling when we were kids. Cracks started appearing last summer and now several more have appeared this summer. I was not notified of a recall and I just found it online this morning while searching for a cleaning solution. I plan on owning this vehicle for at least another 5 years and I fear the dashboard will be an absolute disaster by then.

When I brought in my 2007 Toyota Camry solara convertible for a faulty low tire pressure sensor, another problem was detected. I asked to see the issue while the car was up on the lift. I could observe what looked like a shredding/damaged rack and pinion power steering boot with fluid visible. The first dealer written estimate says "replace power steering rack and pinion (found power steering fluid leaking into boot of rack and pinion)" for $1354. 88, plus 4-wheel alignment for $160. 95. The second dealership service department recommended replacing one rack and pinion boot and that power steering fluid gasket, for $594. 58 plus a $99 alignment, which I did. The dealer checked and there has not yet been a recall for this issue, but I checked online and there are multiple complaints for the same/similar issue. I am very concerned about the safety of my power steering system, whether the other gasket will leak or the system fail while driving.

I just purchased this 2007 Camry from a car dealership . Very nice car low miles well taken care of. I checked the car out very well I thought . These cars bring a premium price. While test driving noticed dash cover lifted it up looked for cracks looked fine. Later on that day bought car . While waiting for someone to drive my other vehicle home thought didn't like dash cover and decided to take it off. Mistake! dash was so sticky like you spray adhesive on it . The dash cover has small velcro strips on stuck to dash which while attempting to remove took piece of dash with it. Went into dealership explained situation to sales rep and they fixed hole. Asked why dash sticky he did not know. On a hot sunny day better have dark sunglasses on for the glare from dash is a distraction. Dash puts off a odor when hot and sticky. I put cover back on dash it helps some. I should of did more research on 2007 Camry because a lot of people are having same issue. There is no solution other than a new dash which Toyota so far will not pay for. Toyota needs to save their reputation because I will never buy another Toyota !.

I recently bought this car from a friend. Did not realize until after I purchased the car that the dashboard is a lot worse than I thought. It is gummy and cracked all over. I bought the car because the exterior looks great and it runs like new, but the dashboard now appears to be a real problem. It will be expensive and how do I know the same thing will not happen to the new one. I along with hundreds and soon to be thousands of people who feel Toyota should do something about this issue. It could turn into a safety issue if the air bags are affected.

My dashboard is melting and cracking. Pieces are starting to fall off. Not sure how this may affect inside electrical components as they may be exposed throgh the cracks. In casa of an accident the dasboard may crumble and pieces may cause body damage to face and eyes. Toyota knows of this problem but in taking to much time to make repairs. In fact no repairs have been done in my local dealer to any of the afected units due to lack of parts. This has been going on for about a year.

The dashboard in my 2007 Toyota Camry has started melting off, and under the sun's heat it becomes very soft, sticky and bright, and when the sun reflects on the dashboard it causes visibility/safety issues. Also, I'm afraid the airbag under the dashboard may become affected if the dashboard cracks or breaks.

A "sticky" and cracking dashboard from florida heat causes a huge glare on the windshield. This makes visibility extremely limited while driving. I have not used any cleaning or polishing products on the dashboard. I am convinced it is just from high temperatures and humidity over time. After noticing the problem I tried to reduce direct sunlight on the dashboard by using windshield covers; however, the dash still remained "sticky" and the covers just simply stuck to the dash. The issue used to only occur when it was hot outside, but now the dash has been "melted" so much so that it has become glossy. Which means even in cooler temperatures the dash reflects any sunlight and causes a glare on the windshield. Again, this issue highly decreases visibility while driving. It is often difficult to perform the easiest maneuvers simply because you cannot see. I have even bought expensive polaroid sunglasses to somewhat reduce the glare, but visibility is still difficult. I am concerned about this issue, because it can easily cause an accident which could have been prevented. Please let me know the best way to handle the situation. Thank you for your help.

I bought this car new and Toyota would not stand behind their product knowing its defective, even when it was under the Toyota brand extended warranty. The vehicle is garage kept and out in the sun when I go shopping for food. I am retired and don't drive much.

The dashboard has been sticky for 3 years, with a glare on the right side when driving. I have contacted my Toyota dealer x3 during routine maintainence and have told them the problem. Toyota says they are not responsible for this and it is out of warranty and I can have it replaced for more than $3,000. 00. Toyota denies that this is a manufacturer problem. My glove compartment has cracked and split also, even though I have not opened the glove compartment in 1 year. There is a web site-"sticky dashboard/Toyota solara with over 700 complaints, and Toyota denies any knowledge of this web site. I have notified Toyota corporate office with this complaint, case# 1401170834 over 18 months ago with no follow-up from Toyota. On August 27, wfla tv from tampa, florida had a segment on a venice Toyota owner with the same sticky dashboard melting problem and Toyota refusing to fix his problem. My car is essential to my work and other commitments, and I hope this can be resolved in the near future. Thank-you.

The dashboard of my Toyota is falling apart. It is a safety hazard as it contains the passanger air bag. Additionally, the glare caused by the shine is very distracting both day and night as sunlight and lights reflect and blind the driver. I believe warranties should cover anything that is a defective part and that's what this is, a defective part, if a part is defective when you manufacturer the car or whether it fails within warranty or out of warranty it shouldn't make any difference. " I and other drivers feel the defect is unsafe, and shine a light on the issue with videos taken from their point of view. Now we've learned the safety issues may go even deeper. "because this dashboard has the airbag inside on the passenger side I wouldn't feel safe in a car that had a cracked dash," explained stewart. "anything that would make an airbag go off too soon or go off too late would be very serious. ".

I noticed my dashboard was sticky and cracking and melting. I immediately went to the Toyota dealership in pompano beach. Pictures were taken by the dealership and submitted to Toyota demonstrating the defects. I received a letter from Toyota refusing to do anything to fix the problem. I contacted Toyota myself and spoke to several people in the company voicing my concerns and demanded someone investigate this problem as I have done my own investigation noting that every Toyota of my model and age have the same issues with the dashboard and interior melting and cracking. I was told both by letter and on the phone that my car was over the warrantee and they would not be responsible . I told Toyota that this was a safety hazard and their product was inferior and that my 2002 Honda accord did not have issues melting so why should my 2007 Toyota be literally melting and cracking.

The dash of my 2007 Toyota Camry solara began to melt and crack in 2012, creating an extremely sticky surface as well as a severe glare on the windshield. This has continued to worsen over the last two years. The stickiness and glare worsen with high temperatures which is a critical issue when living in florida. Even when I travel to northern states in the winter, the stickiness and severe glare does not completely go away in freezing temperatures. I can gently touch my dash and leave a finger imprint at any time of the year and in any temperature. The glare greatly reduces the driver's visibility at any time of the year however, during the hottest months of the year the glare is so severe that it is nearly impossible to see what is ahead. I have nearly been in accidents and have come close to hitting pedestrians in parking lots because of the severe glare. I have resorted to "bobbing and weaving" to find an area of the windshield I can see through (typically a one-inch area where the air vent is reflecting very low on the windshield) or even rolling down the side window to stick my head out during situations such as these. I can only imagine that this will continue to worsen with time. This is a major safety concern and needs to be rectified immediately! this issue needs to be addressed by the manufacturer before an accident occurs!.

Dashboard is very soft and scratches easily. Condition of dashboard is getting worse as time goes by dashboard is now starting to crack even though car is properly mantained and interior is well taken care of.

The dash has been melting for years in my 2007 Toyota Camry xle. Since I bought the vehicle , I have used the sun shades and garage as well and still my dash has soften, melted , cracked , chunks come out by simply touching with fingernail etc by mistake . I have never received a recall and owned the car since 2009 and lived st the same address for 15 years until recently. It would be nice to have the defect fixed !!!!! my second Toyota . Please fix it !!.

Cannot believe how the quality of a car as is the Toyota can have something like this happening and does nothing about, what a great way to keep your clients happy!!.
