Car, since new, has an issue where it seems to stall while accelerating moderately to wot from a speed range beginning around 30-35mph to around 50mph based on certain conditions. Mostly happens when accelerating to enter a highway or to make a lane change/pass. The power output of the engine seems to be pulled back by the ecm (like Toyota's traction control) as it does not seem to lug like a manual in too high a gear. There is no initial shift down of the transmission. In just over a second, the transmission finally shifts down to the next gear but it is still not enough as the engine out put is low due to that gear being too low in the powerband. Suddenly, the transmission shifts down to the next gear, being the appropriate gear for the engine load/speed, the power on the engine kicks up (265bhp) and causes the car to lurch forward. If the wheel is turned as if to take a lane or pass, this becomes near violent, startling the driver and possible means to loose control in less tractable conditions. Please note that this is with the accelerator peddle held in the 60-100% range. If, when this condition arises, the driver takes their foot off the accelerator, the powertrain seems to stall and stutter. Took to the dealership several times. It almost caused an accident 3 times as the car normally has a lot of power (265bhp v6). Toyota customer care was involved but based their decision on dealer that did nothing. It took me a long while to finally figure out the circumstances needed to make this issue repeat as needed. The tcu puts the transmission into 6th gear at too low a speed 30-50mph and possibly into lock-up. Neither should happen. The ecu sees the engine struggling with the load and pulls back the power to prevent over-torquing and damaging the power train. Analogous with trying to takeoff from a stop with a manual trans in 3rd or 4th gear.
I bought 07 Camry from local Toyota dealership in 2007. From the start I've noticed the car was consuming oil. There is no trace of leak anywhere but was taking oil. Without much thought, I would add oil as needed. As the mileage start to rack up, the problem is too obvious and it is getting worse. At the beginning, I did not know how much oil was being consumed. Then I stared to use ticker oil hoping the problem would go away. It did not and I am still using ticker oil (5w20 to 5w30) oil consumption problem, I think is progressively getting worse. The car now has 65,000 miles and late last summer (2011) I've seen oil adding every month (about every 1,000 miles). Local dealer said a quart every 1,000 miles is normal. Service manager is saying that Toyota stated the consuming a quart every 1,000 mile is normal. So go complain to Toyota corp is what they said. I felt like I was talking to a brick wall. Dealership said I should go through oil consumption test, which I stated the process in December of 2011. They had put in half inch above the full mark on the dipstick, which I would have though they would have noted this. After I come back after 1,000 miles, oil consumption was there but they claim 1/2 quart in 1,000 miles. Not considering how much they have over filled or had any idea of that fact. I started looking into this in web and also learned that dealership uses additive to not consume oil in consumption testing. I cannot win over dishonest experts at the dealership. This is a serious problem. I cannot sell this car as I am not about to lie about the oil consumption to a buyer. Who would want to buy my car that consumes a quart every 1,000 mile. I can tell a buyer "this is normal in Toyota standard"; would a buyer understand this? Toyota is trying to turn away their problem onto their customer.
2007 Camry-transmissions hesitates-was in 3 + times to correct. . . Not corrected. The vehicle is dangerous and very unsafe. Was recalibrated twice, problem still exists. Have had numerous near miss accidents due to this hesitation in the transmission. Went through Toyota arbitration, was denied. There is a real design defect with this vehicle and should be considered very unsafe to operate.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. After purchasing the vehicle on October 31, 2006, the contact noticed that there was a lack of acceleration in the vehicle. While attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated. The accelerator pedal was depressed to the floor, but the vehicle still hesitated to pick up speed and then suddenly sped off. The dealer found no failures; however, they later asked her to bring the vehicle back for repairs. After the repairs, the vehicle continued to lack acceleration. The contact returned to the dealer and repaired again. The vehicle was serviced a total of seven times and the dealer stated that they "updated" the vehicle; however, the failure persists. The failure mileage was 3,000 and current mileage was 26,500.
I have a 2007 Camry le and experience a delay in acceleration from a stop to 25 mph. It does not occur all the time but I've experience it 4 times in the last 5 months. The car hesitate for about 3 seconds before starting to move. One time an SUV had to steer to avoid me as I was making a left turn. This seems to be common base on the complains I've seen on this website.
2007 Toyota Camry ***consumer has attached a complaint from another consumer the consumer stated he had two corrections done to the throttle system and the acceleration which is still not normal, but acceptable compared to what it was originally. The cruise control was still faulty, but the consumer devised a way to work around the problem, not convenient but it worked. The consumer also complained about a delayed acceleration problem. The acceleration delay moved from 0 rpm to about 2000 rpm where it would go flat for about two seconds and then raced to about 4,000 rpm before settling down.
2007 Camry xle had performance issues, sluggish when accelerating. Shortly after the consumer took delivery of the vehicle he noticed sluggish acceleration, transmission problems and deceleration a times. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The vehicle was put on a scanner and test driven. The results were given to Toyota engineers who indicated that the vehicle was performing properly. The consumer was never able to have the vehicle repaired so he traded it in for another vehicle.
I have a 2007 Camry se v6that hesitates before it accelerate. I read that a lot of other owners has the same problem . What is Toyota doing about it?what can owners do to get satisfaction about this problem.
2007 Toyota Camry pedal issues the consumer stated twice in the 4 years he has owned the vehicle, the engine would rev while in park. The first time it happened, he thought he inadvertently hit the accelerator. However it happened more recently and he knows for a fact it had nothing to do with the gas pedal. Recently, the consumer noticed a serious hesitation problem while driving. Sometimes when the consumer pressed the pedal, the vehicle accelerated smoothly, other times it seemed as though there was no gas going into the engine, and then all of a sudden the vehicle would take off. The consumer believed the problem was transmission or fuel injected related.
