3 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 09/13/2016

I was driving to work on the interstate and I noticed that I could no longer drive past 45 mph on the interstate where speed limit is 60mph. I then was able thank god to get off interstate and exit to side street. I noticed immediately that my vehicle would not go past 3rd gear and speed would only accelerate to 45mph. I made appointment the same day to get car looked at at bob howard Toyota. Later that day it was confirmed that my transmission was gone(bad) . I am informed that this is a manufacturing problem and it is my expectation to have this resolved ASAP at Toyota corporation expense as well as providing me transportation at their expense not mine! I also had my vehicle serviced approximately 4-6 weeks ago and I do not recall being informed of any problems with the transmission/power train system. Thank you in advance for your expedient response and resolution to this matter and it being at Toyota's full expense and not mine respectfully submitted kim benson ps contact information (405-824-9904) or (405-427-7411).

5 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/03/2013

Started car in morning and it was making winding noise, left and noticed the tranny did not know what gear to be in , when I would stop it the tranny could not down shift fast enough and it would bang down in gear, and the speed odometer would jump up as it was shifting down, you have to keep your foot on the brake or it will jump forward,it has snowed a few times since and you can not drive it in the snow at all, it lurches at slow speeds and you have to keep your foot on break , it drives it self and keeps shifting up and down it is a death trap waiting to happen, other people have drove it and the same issues , I have put a 1000 miles on it and I hate it, my 1998 Camry is safer to drive then this car, never a Toyota again , only made 1 payment and ready to trade in and take a loss, thanks Toyota.

8 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/30/2012

Transmission issues. . . . . While doing mostly city driving and in the first ten minutes of driving, transmission will not know what gear it wants to be in, there is a whiny noise associated with it also (never heard this before in the Toyota's I have owned). While at a complete stop the vehicle will almost die to conserve fuel. When you go to start back up the vehicle will do this gear "checking" process leading to the vehicle not moving as it should. Once it finds the correct gear the car will lunge very quickly and almost create rear end collisions. I have two intersections near my home that I am afraid to come to because I have to floor the gas and step on the brake pedal so the car does not stall and so that the car will make it across the intersection without getting t-boned. I almost got t-boned twice due to this the last happening on 6-30-12. This issue is a 6-15 mph issue and when cold more than warmed up. I read that this issue is not an issue but a learning transmission and that it tries to learn operators. With 21,000 miles a car should not be learning and what if a different operator drives it? the car will jerk me around while on my 8 mile jaunt to the highway in the mornings. Once on the highway this is a non-issue. I called Toyota and they have not issued a recall but I have read of many other terrified Toyota 2011 and 2010 Camry owners that have called them and several have contacted your organization. There is a TSB (technical service bulletin) 0287-10 out for the learning of this transmission but it has not help my situation or others from what I read. (updated transmission software) I will not allow my wife or children in this car. I even took the keys with me once while away on business so she would not forget and drive it.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer again to service the transmission, but the condition continued. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. 11 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 02/07/2010

I have a 2007 japanese-made Camry. I bought at a premium (well above invoice and above msrp because servco hawaii does not give discounts) thinking I was paying for a reliable and well-made vehicle. I have had other Toyotas but none with as many problems as this vehicle. And, with all the news of accelerator problems, I would like my problems checked and not be charged for it. I do not like the idea of having to pay $103 (1hr labor) x 3 different accelerator issues + another $103 to see why there is the smell of gasoline coming from the a/c vent. 1. When stepping on the accelerator, I will get no response. . . I continue to depress the gas, still no response. Then finally, the car will thrust forward violently. This has been mentioned to Toyota hawaii dealer several times saying it was normal for drive by wire vehicle and that it will take some getting used to. 2. When accelerating slowly, the car will rev high without the automatic transmission upshifting. . I have to depress the gas more and the car will rev even higher before upshifting. 3. On 2 different times, the car has revved and jumped forward while not in gear. The first time was at an intersection. I shifted into neutral with the p-brake on and it felt as if someone hit my car from the rear. The car jumped into the busy crosswalk about 2 feet until I hit the brake pedal and shifted it back into drive. Another time was at the drive-thru window in park. The car didn't move but jerked violently. Both were on flat surfaces. 4. When under heavy acceleration, the car sometimes give off the smell of gasoline. It is not exhaust fumes but smells of raw gasoline. A/c in recirculate mode. I also have been having numerous other quality problems with excessive rattling of trim and door ajar alarm going off for no reason.

12 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2010 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/01/2009

Have 2010 Camry next day after purchase car started making a popping noise took to dealership service dept. They didn't know what was making noise, would check with outside tech had to call them after waiting for over a week. Service dept. Mgr tells me it is normal that all Camrys make the noise that it is the abs actuator. New cars should not be making a loud noise. If this is normal why didn't they know what is was the first time I took car in? service mgr. Told me to turn the radio on and I wouldn't hear the noise. Car automatically slowed down while driving at nighttime, had foot on accelerator, if a car had been behind me they would have hit me, put more pressure on acc. But engine just revived was able to quickly turn engine off and restart car would not change into gear as it should seemed as if hung in low. Have had brake pedal go to floor as if no brakes. Have taken car to dealership serv. Dept but kept being told nothing showed up on computer. I told them I couldn't help what was or wasn't on computer but those things did happen and were happening. Serv. Mgr. Told me that it must be that I just decided I didn't like the car. As of this date Feb. 22 I still have not received a recall letter regarding floor mats or accelerator. E-mailed Toyota over a week ago received confirm that e-mail had been received but have not received a response from them. These instances started August 1, 2009.

15 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/03/2007

Vehicle information: 2007 Camry se v6 purchased in toronto, ontario, canada in Sep 2007 ? vehicle manufacturing date Aug 29, 2007. Deficiencies: 1) hesitation the vehicle would not respond to acceleration (even with full throttle) after driving in heavy traffic (stop and go) or driving very passively. This symptom is consistence and hesitation is long and common is 80 klm speed. The vehicle does not down shift at all. Change my dealer after reporting it twice with no action. New dealer has acknowledged the problem and has reprogrammed the transmission chip as per TSB. (will pick up the vehicle today) 2) crackling noise from control are and dashboard next to windshield during entire cold season. Noises appear every few second. Over 90% of the problem disappears during warmer weather. Change my dealer after reporting it twice with no action. New dealer has acknowledged the problem and has added additional insulation as per TSB to control area only. The dashboard noise next to windshield could not be replicated. I have to bring the vehicle to dealer during winter month to replicate the problem before any action is taken. 3) thumping noise from rear end of the vehicle on bumps (like a lose watermelon in your trunk). Again, first dealer did nothing. New dealer has acknowledged the problem and has added additional insulation to struts as per TSB, 4) high revving and transmission not in gear in sudden acceleration. Similar response as you are driving a manual transmission and you continue to accelerate while changing gear. New dealer suggest that the reprogramming should take care of this.

16 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/07/2007

My wife and I purchased a 2007 Camry le, 4-cylinder, 5-speed from Toyota of orange in orange California. Ever since our test drive we've experienced lack of acceleration (hesitation) from a stop or after slowing down to turn or proceed, shifting problems (constant up and down shifting at certain speeds; car not sure which gear to be in and feels like the car is surging) and unable to use the cruise control due accelerating too quickly due to downshifting and then overshooting the set speed. Some of these symptoms are sporadic; you never know if the car is going to move or not when stepping down hard and quickly on the gas pedal. Sometimes it "red-lines" before accelerating, other times there is barely any response at all. Reported it to the dealer 3 times, had the software updated without noticeable improvements. Eg036-07 is the latest ecm update,. We would never have purchased this vehicle if we had only researched the car beforehand on the internet. Me and my wife could never get used to the gas pedal because the car responded differently every time. One day my wife came from work and attempted to park the car into a spot on the parking structure, she pressed the gas pedal and the car accelerated really fast driving through the wall almost into the community pool. I have stopped making payments on the car since the car is sitting in the garage and very upset with Toyota since I reported the problem to the dealer 3 times and called Toyota corp on the phone and received no help.

17 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/03/2006

Transmission on the 2007 Camry le v6 does not shift gears properly. When gas is pressed to accelerate, car does not shift in to gear. Can cause rear end collision when car suddenly lurches into gear. This also happens with the se and le 4 cyl. Vehicles.

18 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2005 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/01/2005

Contact with the dealership has been fruitless as far as resolving the problem. I was told that they are aware of complaints, but try the company line that it was engineered to perform this way. Basically, the transmission will not gear down satisfactorily, until it comes to a complete stop. A slow turn and then acceleration will 'always' result in 'lagging' of gear changes, then it will finally gear down and lurch into the lower gear. It's aggravating and can be downright dangerous in tight crowded freeway driving conditions where it's not unusual to have to slow down and then speed up without getting rear-ended.
