I was leaving a doctor's office and getting on the highway. When I pressed down on the accelerator, I experienced a sudden loss of power, the check engine light came on, as well as warnings about the front collision system being deactivated. It remained dangerous for me to stay on the highway but it was also difficult to exit the highway safely given the loss of power. When I brought it to a Toyota dealership, they did a diagnostic and it said my transmission had an "internal failure" despite the fact that it only has 85k miles on it.

Pre-collision system malfunction, secondary collision system malfunction along with check engine. It appears to be a trend with 2018 Toyota Camry xse and higher model. I found that many people that own this model vehicle is experiencing the same issue even after going to a Toyota dealer and the issue still persist.
Forward facing radar system malfunction. If vehicle is parked in the sun and windshield is hot the forward facing radar is overheated and when you start the vehicle the safety system fail to boot up. If this isn't enough of a safety concern the error messages obstruct your instrument cluster screen so you can not see important things like your speedometer. You can cancel the warning but with in a few seconds it reappears and obstructs your view. Vehicle was taken to dealership. There are no recalls or safety bulletins on it from Toyota corp and no known fix. This problem did not exist until Toyota moved forward radar from grill area and placed it inside windshield top center. If I manually cool the area with cold water or prolonged fan blowing on the area I can restart and safety system boots up fine. This continually happens over several years, and yet still no recall. Several discussions on Toyota's forum about this exact issue. Yet neither Toyota or NHTSA are addressing it. Lets recall and fix this before someone dies as a result of the safety system malfunction or the warning message obstructing the instrument cluster.

I am filing this complaint regarding a known and documented issue affecting my 2012 Toyota Camry (VIN: [xxx] ), which has developed a transmission shudder and vibration between 20–50 mph. This problem is directly aligned with Toyota technical service bulletin t-sb-0079-15 and customer support program zf4, both of which describe issues with the torque converter and ecm software. My vehicle has 116,670 miles, which falls within the mileage eligibility of the support program (zf4: 150,000 miles), though it is just outside the time limitation (8 years). I reached out to Toyota (case #: [xxx]) to request goodwill assistance due to the safety-related nature of the defect and the fact that it is a well-documented product flaw, but they declined support solely based on time — not on mileage or vehicle condition. The vibration affects the transmission and drivability, particularly during city and highway acceleration, creating potential hazards when merging or navigating traffic. I believe this qualifies as a design flaw with potential safety implications. I respectfully request that NHTSA review Toyota’s handling of this issue and determine whether further consumer protection or a recall is warranted, especially for owners who were not adequately notified or who fall just outside the support window despite clear symptoms. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I was involved in a multi-impact collision while driving my 2021 Toyota Camry. Certified crash data from the airbag control module (acm) confirms five crash events including a frontal collision (delta-v of -9. 3 mph) and a rollover (roll angle 9. 8°, roll rate 45. 6°/sec). Despite these conditions, no airbags deployed—not the frontal, knee, or curtain airbags. The driver was belted, there was no airbag warning light, and power was maintained. Toyota later stated the system worked “as designed” and found no defects. However, federal safety standards (fmvss no. 208 and 226) suggest this type of crash should have triggered the airbags, especially due to the frontal delta-v and verified rollover. I request a formal investigation. Crash report available upon request.

Only when it rains the forward collision warning light comes on. The last time it came on the engine light also came on with code p01280. Diagnostic at Toyota said the thermostat needs to be replaced. I decided to look into this as the thermostat should not be bad at 54500 miles. Weeks later and the neither light has come on again.
My Camry has received two professional transmission services as per the manufacturer recommendation, within suggested timeframes as it is now 176k. The transmission ( surely this is not something new to hear) has failed. No prior sign or code. This vehicle died while driving on the highway! it stopped automatically shifting and would not accelerate. There have been other owners of this same car, year ect. That have lost transmission while driving!!!! want to get to the bottom? how many 18camrys make it to 300k or even 200k without a new transmission. Most die 65k !! lemon come on. Toyota mechanics, youtube, Toyota nation, dealerships, it is a well known fact that the 18 Camrys being that they cheaper out on so many parts, and added this new transmission, they’re known for failure! young. This company is screwing peopel. With jobs, kids, and now you’ve got to fork out minimum 6k and wait for 3-6 months to have car back??? how many people have been homeless due to this? ?? I had a job and a home, boss wouldn’t let me work from home! I’ve rode a bicycle to work, in florida to the next town over. Even with a loan, I’m out a car for months, so how many loans offer a no pay for 6 months? I’m hungry. Most people trans died in the 65k this is a rip off. The car can give back its safety award. The brakes gave out on me. The oil pan the brakes the trans the fuel pump. And the notorious front bumpers. They come un snapped in every newer body style carolla and Camry. Wing out beside fenders. And collision syste I’ve had people beside me in the same model car take a pic of my quick release snaps that I used to safely secure the bumper. This car is a lemon! mine is a unicorn with trans failure despite the maintained by a local aamco owner (transmission specialist) trans dying at 178k “wow that is impressive!” are you guys going to do anything? or has Toyota paid you off? no one gives a heck about consumers. We’re the modern day native americans .
The transmission has completely malfunctioned. The car started stalling in traffic. It then stopped registering gears and stopped pulling. The car was taken to a shop who stated transmissions issues along with a brake assist failure. The torque converter has not been released by Toyota. My car has 139000 miles. I have researched this issue and many others have reported the same problem!.
If vehicle is parked in sun the front facing camera and laser located at the top of the windshield overheat then when the vehicle is started the overheated front facing camera is offline so the collision, lane depart/assist and auto dimming system will not boot so those safety features are offline and your screen with your instrument cluster is obstructed by warning messages. If you park in the shade or cool the top of your windshield with water prior to starting the processes boot normally and your safety systems are available. Problem is reoccurring if vehicle is parked in the sun.
All warnings light are popping up mention malfunction on break and lda system comes and goes away.

On three separate occasions the pre collision system has inappropriately activated while driving at high speeds. It seems to occur during dusk/dark and when it is raining. Two out of the three times it applied the brake, which easily could have resulted in an accident. I inspected the wiring for one of the sensors underneath the hood which appears fine. The sensors were cleaned off in all of these instances.
Driving down the interstate it started snowing and it was a wet snow so it was sticking to the front of the car. Warning light for the front collision light came on and said was disabled or something like that. It was also white outs during this snow storm so with that out not knowing if there's a car in front of me put not only my life but my husband's life in danger. Once we stopped for gas and cleared front of car off it was fine. We've owned this car since 2018 and this is the 1st snowstorm we've encountered this.
Secondary collision brake system malfunction.
When driving home I was doing about 25 mph when my car stalled and 5 or 6 display lights came on. ( secondary collision brake system malfunction, check engine, charging system malfunction, lda malfunction and engine stopped steering power low. ) so I costed into the nearest parking lot blocking an entrance to the facility, so I wouldn’t be blocking traffic on a busy 2 lane road at lunch time. So I then put car in park and shut it off and waited. I tried starting my car and it started but raved up and shut off. So I turned key off and waited 10 minutes. I tried 2 more times waiting 5 minutes longer each time. As I’m writing this I’m waiting for tow truck cause now my car won’t start at all. But I had someone bring an obd tool and p2119,2111, codes showed up.
The car started hesitating when accelerating. The vehicle started to lose power and all the lights came on. Check engine, pre-collision warning system malfunction, vehicle stability control system malfunction. Took my vehicle in and Toyota dealer said at first they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Then decided to replace the transmission. It has been nearly 2 months and still cant get the parts to fix my car. Excuse is Toyota is backlogged. Help.

While driving on high way normally, suddenly multiple malfunction indicator lights were on at the same time. The screen shows antilock brake system malfunction, secondary collision brake system malfunction, lda malfunction, pre-collision system malfunction, low braking power.
This afternoon we had 3 safety incidents in a row as we were driving from austin to san antonio. Our Camry suddenly lost power while we were on the highway, driving 70 miles an hour, when multiple warning lights came up and the car information screen said "secondary collision brake system malfunction, visit your dealer" when this occurred the car suddenly lost power and decelerated. We had to pull over and find a safe spot to park. Doing so was dangerous because the car was barely moving forward. For the first incident, we turned the car off and we let it sit for 5 minutes. When we turned the car back on, the error code disappeared. About 25 minutes later the same thing happened at highway speed. We parked, turned the car off, disconnected the battery and waited 5 minutes, on restarting the error code disappeared. After another 25 minutes on I-35 the car did it again. These were scary and dangerous events on the highway. We were fortunate to be able to pull over each time this happened. We were afraid and did not understood why. After the third incident, we were able to drive 1 hour without the malfunction reoccurring. In our internet research this seems to be a wide spread problem of modern Toyota. Please for the safety of the american driving public, please investigate this widespread problem.
While driving the Camry at 45 mph among the flow of traffic on a state highway in florida, out of the blue the vehicle's speedometer on the instrument cluster was replaced with a flashing red box and the brakes applied themselves fully with no command or input given whatsoever. The Camry immediately screeched to a stop in the middle of the road within a couple seconds, causing the vehicle behind me to slam into the Camry at full speed. There were no other vehicles or obstacles ahead of me at all, this fact was also observed by witnesses. The automation had triggered for no apparent reason, overriding my control of the Camry and stopping it in the middle of a major highway, causing the accident. Despite the intensity of the crash, the air bags of the vehicle failed to deploy in the impact, worsening the severity of my injuries. Both the Camry and the other motorist's car were rendered inoperable and totaled in the accident, they had to be towed from the scene. The police ruled the cause of the accident to be vehicular malfunction of the Camry.
There are multiple warning lights on my dash at this time. The following malfunctions are showing on my dash at this time: pre-collision system malfunction, lda malfunction, headlamp malfunction, srs malfunction, low braking power, secondary collision brake system malfunction, power steering malfunction, antilock brake system malfunction. These started coming on around two weeks ago. I have no blinkers available and my steering stiffens to where the car is almost undriveable. I contacted Toyota corporate office and the representative said she has not heard of these warnings, but they are on many Toyota forums on the internet. I took the vehicle to Toyota north in goodlettsville, TN on 10/12/2022 and they can not tell me what is wrong with my car. I feel it is a safety hazard to drive this car at this point since this car has automatic braking power. I also have videos available, if needed. This is going to cause someone to get seriously hurt.
Excellent.

Acceleration felt weird when is performed from full stop or moderate speed to a “chase” speed (high revolutions), it doesn’t respond according to the action taken to the gas pedal. Also the crash sensor went off from time to time.
Car is regularly maintained, vehicle had to be what was a software or fuel supply issue. In hotter weather car stutters and engine will completely shut off while driving. It will begin to throw errors for second brake system malfunction, check engine, lane departure assist. Codes from obd2 read p12d5 and p107d. Seems like fuel stops is being cut off or extreme software issue. Regardless it has left my pregnant wife and 3 yr old son stranded in the middle of the road in 100 degree plus weather or then runs extremely rough. Have gone to a mechanic twice each time engine codes had shut off and there was nothing to be done at the moment. Issue still persists, it is still a danger and often it is difficult to have enough momentum to pull over somewhere safe. This issue may also cause further engine problems.
Pre- collision warning popped out of no where, my car will also brake out of no where after no one is in front of me.
Braking assist non-power assisted brake will remain functional safety risk a sudden loss of power braking assist while driving could increase the risk of a crash backup camera rc unavailable the braking provides power brake assist when the driver depresses the brake pedal specific components in a part of this system can could lead to sudden loss of power.
I was driving on I-65 northbound in alabama, 20 miles south of birmingham, when my car suddenly had multiple warnings appear on my dash and I lost all forward power. My power steering malfunctioned and I was forced to immediately slow up the car and bring it to a stop. The warnings that appeared were "hybrid system malfunction", "braking power low", "maintenance required", "pre-collision system malfunction", and "check engine". I had about 5 lights appear on my dash as well. The fact that I lost power steering means I could of easily crashed if I wasn't careful. I have brought the car to the dealership after having it towed and want it to be inspected. It has never had an issue like this before, and it passed the dealer inspection at 11,000 miles and only just became due for its next maintenance. I had no prior warning to this issue.
All of the warning notifications keep going off. I have been to the dealership 3 times paid for a battery replacement and battery terminal replacement. I was quoted a ridiculous rate for a engine wiring harness replacement, I had to get that replaced by a certified technician but the car is still doing the same thing. I am starting to feel like I was sold a lemon.
In dealer 2 different dealers for 2 computer failures 2x. So called repaired. Car hits the brakes by itself there is no way to turn off the radar on the front of the car. You have to remember to turn it off everytime you drive it. Then the gas pedal and brakes failed. The tow truck guy said just disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to re-set the ecu. Well he did and I had to retrain the car how to shift over several days. Good thing the failure occured at 30mph. I am selling this. I have owned Camry's since the 90's and im afraid to drive this and bought another car. Contact the next owner. Selling it as is. . . . . . . . .
Sunday night March 21/2021 8:37pm I was driving in staten island with a passenger, way to dropp him off, over 40mph, and sudden my car had a brakes failure, on my dashboard appears a code low braking power, we were in panic, and I was approaching to a line of car in an stop light in red, I was pushing my brakes several times but never response, I had to maneuver my car to the right shoulder and there was people crossing and finally I got push my emergency brake. (I have he video in full hd as evidence).
I wont even have a vehicle in front of me while driving and the automatic braking comes on it flashes red on the instrument panel and it starts emergency braking I dont feel this is very safe it happens every so often like this week it will do it but next week it doesnt do it.
I was driving yesterday (1/29/21) and I was going about 40mph I came up on the reset of another vehicle who's break lights were disabled and I almost did not break in time to avoid collision. This was the second time I've noticed my breaking assist not working. Back in October 2019 I noticed an issue with my air bags as well. They would beep and go off as though someone was sitting in the seats and there was no one there. Due to my own beliefs I assumed it was paranormal activity however I did make a complaint when I got my oil change in the following weeks. They told me to let them know if it continued and it may have done it once or twice since then but not often. I'm not sure if it is enough to report.
I bought a new Toyota Camry 2020 se on October 2020 from Toyota downtown los angeles less than 3 months later. I've only driven it 800miles. Today as I was driving to work I noticed that I had to press on the break harder than usual. Also it lags when starting up.
Electronic malfunction occurred while driving. Power windows, air bags, windshield wipers, heads up display, climate control, lane assist, auto lights, seat warmers, lane assist and collision sensors not working. Since auto-lights feature not working, I had to manually turn on lights and after 20 minutes of driving, they shut off.
