Car Stall Problems of Toyota Camry Hybrid

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. While driving 30 mph, the brake indicator illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal, but had difficulty stopping the vehicle. The contact was able to drive to a parking lot before the vehicle stalled. All of the warning indicators were illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to frank fletcher Toyota (2209 s rangeline rd, joplin, mo 64804) and the battery was replaced. Ten days later, the battery indicator illuminated again when the vehicle was started. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 176,000.

When I come to a full stop and attempt to drive the vehicle sort of "stalls" then eventually the gears catch and it starts to drive. This can be very dangerous when trying to pick up speed in a highway or something. The first time it happened I was at a stop sign. Upon depressing the brake, the vehicle did not pick up speed, it slowly rolled forward. After about 5-10 seconds, the vehicle then seemed to "catch gears" and picked up speed. I also noticed the hybrid battery wasn't charging very well and seemed to be hot as the battery fans were constantly on.

I was driving to work on the highway when all of the sudden my car started to slow down, I pushed on the accelerator and got nothing, the dash board lights came on and the car completely stalled. The computer screen said to "check hybrid system and check vsc system". I sat for awhile and tried to restart the car, it did start but it would move, and then it displayed on the computer, " put car in p" and again the message read check hybrid system and vsc system. The tow truck driver got into my vehicle to put it on the roll back and he noticed that the computer was saying the same thing to him, so I know I wasn't going crazy. The car was then towed to the dealership where I purchased it and they call me to tell me that the car is running fine and that there is no problem!!! I am furious, I bought this car because of Toyota's reputation, reliability and safety. I do not feel safe in the car!!!.

Letter from senator on behalf of constituent re stalling problems while driving his 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The consumer stated the vehicle has stalled three times while driving in traffic. The vehicle stalled each time the consumer stepped on the gas pedal. He would have to suddenly depress the brake pedal to avoid a collision. The engine would lose power and pressing on the gas pedal did nothing. The consumer stated he was able to coast the vehicle off the highway. The dealer stated nothing could be done if the computer didn't record the incident.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The vehicle has been experiencing an intermittent failure in which the vehicle would stall when heavy pressure was applied to the brakes. After the failure occurred the vehicle was pulled over and began functioning normally after it was restarted. He stated that the failure occurred four times when firm pressure was applied to the brakes to avoid a crash. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer three times and they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 28,000.

Vehicle suddenly lost power while driving on the freeway. Vehicle towed to dealer. Dealer states vehicle lost communication with bus system causing system to stall out. Dealer cleared codes and reset. Test drove o. K.
