The brake light, traction control and abs lights turned on, and check vsc system displayed. Vehicle has been maintained correctly. I was on the hwy going 65 mph, in my 2007 Camry Hybrid when this happened, totally lost power, I was able to pill over to the side road call for help. This is a ridiculous situation for an automobile. I feel like the public is being used like test dummies by Toyota.
My car consumes oil (will run empty) after a few thousand miles. I contacted Toyota and there was a campaign pack in 2016. While they could produce dates and the alleged address they sent the campaign information too, I never received it. Both notices did not arrive at my house. Reading the complaints, I see I'm not the only one whom has this issue. I am the first and only owner of this vehicle.

About a dozen times in the last year, the car was put in park and the engine was turned off using the on/off button, but then later in the night, it was noticed that the engine was running! the car was in the garage and the key was in the house at the time.

As I was traveling on i75 north of atlanta, I needed to slow for traffic congestion. I applied the brakes, but they didn't seem to work. Several lights on the dash came on including the check hybrid engine, the check vsc system, and the abs lights. The power brakes were off and it became difficult to stop. Then the vehicle's engine stopped completely requiring me to maneuver out of heavy traffic to the shoulder of the road. I turned on my hazard lights, but was almost hit by several vehicles as I got to the shoulder.
Hybrid battery pack goes bad after 150000 miles and need to be replace, car shuts of by it self in the highway. When cara is running is agita off in the middle of the road.
While driving the car, the "check hybrid system" light came on and the car lost power. The car had very little power and just crept at a very low rate. Stepping on the throttle pedal did not do any good. If we were in traffic we would have been in a dangerous safety situation. We had the car towed to a dealer and are waiting for an assessment. We have seen on Toyota nation that this is not an isolated case. Why hasn't a recall or an alert been issued for this situation. It is very similar to the ignition key problem where the engine is inadvertently shut-off. We have been lucky that this happened close to our residence. If my wife had been driving with our grandchildren in the car, who knows what would have happened. This is a serious safety condition that must be addressed by Toyota. At the Toyota dealer, we could not duplicate the "check hybrid system" condition and we are not comfortable about driving this car if Toyota can not assess and fix this unsafe condition.
My car does not start when the weather gets chilli. Tryed so many times but won't turn on.

Engines oil being consumed at an accelerated and driver and passenger sun visors loose which hinders drivers view while driving because they flop downwards and do not stay at a recommended angle to block sun during use.
Was driving, and hybrid system check light came on. . . Continued driving slowly then car lost a bit of power. . Like parking break was on and vcs failure light came on. Drove home after with hybrid system check still on.
When shifted into reverse while car not on or when car on but key not detected or during delay between key detection car will roll backwards but will not allow driver to drive forward.

On 20 March 2015, while starting the car, a warning indicator showed up on my instrument panel. The indicator stated ( check hybrid system. . . . . Vsc system ). I parked the car for the day. Day 2, I took the car to a auto shop and had a basic scan that reads abs codes performed on the car. The basic scan reveled to "replace battery pack". Two mechanics informed me while performing the scan, a burning odor was observed from the car. I drove the car home and parked it. I lastly observed the only information displayed from the instrument panel was " check hybrid system". The only lights on were the warning light and the engine light.
An indicator light on the dash board flashed and alarm sounded and both the gas and electric motors shut down. I was in heavy single lane traffic with limited road shoulder but was able to pull of and get to a stop. The engine system started normally and no indicators were observed. I took it to liberty Toyota in edgewater park NJ and they could find nothing.

2012 Toyota camry. Consumer states vehicle turned on by itself and ran for an unknown period of time.
Dealer suspected crack in engine block during routine service. Confirmed by independent mechanic. Origin unknown. Vehicle never involved in accident. Crack extends from main motor mount approximately 12 inches. No explanation. Second owner. Positive carfax.
Vehicle serviced 3/10/10 under Toyota 90l recall campaign. Dealership stated all systems functional upon completion. On 5/21/14, in safe road conditions and parking lot speeds <10 mph, driver applied brakes to vehicle in order to pull into parking spot. During braking, vehicle did not slow or stop, but accelerated at a high rate of speed, striking a parking berm and 3 other vehicles. Police report made; driver not cited but was advised to contact Toyota re brake failure and acceleration. Toyota was contacted; inspection was made by bosch engineering. Toyota contends the incident is not a result of any manufacturing defect. Toyota provided a technical report containing engineering data without layman's explanation or proof of its contention. Toyota was found by the doj to have misled consumers and the govt regarding severity and "resolution: of this issue. On 8/21/14 and 8/22/14 driver was contacted by Toyota with a second and separate recall notice #e0u, affecting the vehicle's brake reservoirs, in which clogging and/or low fluid levels "could cause additional warning lamps[. . . ]to illuminate and front brake assist could be temporarily lost. " the warning lamp in question did illuminate during the 5/21 incident. Legal counsel for driver has advised an independent review of the bosch report and inspection of the brake reservoir; however, the vehicle was totaled and sold at auction by the insurance company's salvage agent. I have initiated an independent review of the bosch report at my own expense. In light of Toyota's misleading conduct regarding recall campaign 90l and the subsequent recall #e0u, driver contends that Toyota is at fault for the events of 5/21/14.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that the vehicle powered on independently. The vehicle was not taken for inspection or repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 113,023.
First of all: I bought 2007 camry certifed used Aug. 2011; 70,000 miles (approx. ) at Toyota dealer. Car has been serviced only by this dealer at 5,000 miles. Oil is 5w20 (not syntehtic). 8/26/13 took car in for nys inspection & routine service (car was early for servicing, didn't want to take it 2x). I was told engine needed 2 qts. Oil; had gone only 4,000 miles since last oil change; that I would need to check oil at least every 1,000 mi; or have them start the test process; I was told this is a normal problem-Toyota builds cars for epa standards. I just read Toyota nation posts; I find this is not normal; Toyota has issues with i4 engines; many folks have had same problem & no resolve from Toyota. I too have never had to check or add oil in between regular servicing; I have owned cars for 40 yrs. ; this my 1st Toyota. I was always gm. I want my problem noted. Thank you.
Car was parked. Turned on ignition and saw multiple waening lights. Drove to dealer for repairs and was told brake actuator assembly needs to exchanged.
The vehicle had low oil and the low oil warning light did not light up. The engine suffered damage. The users guide infers that the car will warn drivers of low oil, but it did not. Toyota has a design flaw. . . .
I was driving my 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid on a multi lane highway at about 60 mph, when the car jerked, all indicator lights came on and the engine became completely unresponsive. I pushed the accelerator pedal to try to maneuver to the shoulder and there was no response (no engine rev. , no acceleration). I managed to get the car to the shoulder and upon restart, the car drove hesitantly. I made it to a Toyota dealership that night with all indicator lights still lit up. The next day as they began to look at the car, they could find no stored computer code for the problem and upon driving the car, it drove normally. As a result, they could not figure out the problem and have fixed nothing. A Toyota service tech also looked at the car with the same result. I now am being forced to pick up my car unrepaired. As I listened to the news last evening (March 18, 2010), they reported on a problem with the evm module in Toyota corolla's. This problem sounds very similar.
Yesterday,Jan. 16, 2010, I was driving my camry and noticed the odor of oil through my a/c. It was raining so the street surfaces were wet, and I noticed that I was slipping as I accelerated from stops and making simple turns at normal wet-driving speeds, and three times this almost caused an accident. As I neared my home, the oil pressure light came on for just a moment and went off again. This happened once more a moment before I pulled into my driveway. I parked the vehicle, turned it off, and went inside for a moment to get a flashlight. When I came back outside, there was an oil sheen on the wet driveway spreading out from beneath my camry. I opened the hood and found oil spatter all over the passenger-side of the engine bay. I checked the dipstick only to find that the oil pan was dry. I closed the hood and waited until today to look into the issue further, as the rain had stopped. I filled the motor with oil and there were no drips visible, so I jacked up the car and checked the oil pan nut and filter housing and they were tight, so I started the vehicle. At that time, a rubber hose located on the left side of the engine began spitting oil out of what appeared to be a pin-hole in the hose. I turned off the car quickly, pushed it back into its parking spot and cleaned up a bit, knowing that I'd have to have it towed for service. A search of the internet for this problem finds a great deal of forum discussion, and that the Toyota avalon using this same engine and part in 2005 had the same problems, leading to a service bulletin. I feel that the inherent danger that this poor engineering poses should be addressed for all camry owners to prevent the potential accidents that could occur should this happen on the highway instead of normal low-speed surface streets.
My 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid ceased functioning (lost all pwer) with 13,300 miles on it. A warning light came on saying check hybrid system, followed by a warning saying check engine, followed by an exclamation point. I was 200 miles from home when this happened. The Toyota dealership to which it was towed could find no problem. I have looked on-line and found other people with the same vehicle who had the same problem, and their dealerships were not able to figure out what was wrong with those vehicles. One gentleman was on the freeway between two trucks when his Camry Hybrid lost all power. I am very hesitant to drive the car now.
I was stopped at a stop light when my Camry Hybrid suddenly stopped running and my radio, air conditioning stopped, the dash board showed several errors, a battery problem, a triangle with a ! mark, a brake sign, "move gear to park and restart your car" all which were obvious signs that something had gone wrong. My car started and I called Toyota to report it and made an appointment and drove to their site on eubank, karl malone. They inspected it and told me nothing showed in the technical maintenance report which made me so angry. I saw the information on the prius reporting the same problem I experienced stopping engine while driving my car.
