The water pump is making a terrible noise, and will fail soon. Toyota recalled 2. 7 million vehicles for water pump problems but they say mine is not recalled. I think it should be. It is making a terrible noise.

Water pump failed at 31000 miles and 4 years old. Consumer reports identified a high incident of failed water pumps. This is another example of poor quality parts, which Toyota needs to recall and correct. Toyota needs to back their products.
The water pump on car has started to leak spraying coolant over the orange electrical wires in the engine compartment. This is a potential fire hazard. Also it can lead to engine overheating. One complaint has already been filed at this website by another customer. Toyotanation. Com forum is filled with hundreds of complaints and pictures of similar nature and people have even posted pictures and instructions on how to change the water pump. I wish Toyota would have some honor respect for customer safety and acknowledge this grave problem.

Water pump failure 5,000 outside of warranty. Both dealer and Toyota corporate refused to compensate. Owned vehicle 6 months, purchased from a Toyota dealer.
During routine maintenance, it was found that the water pump on the 2009 Camry Hybrid was leaking. This is not normal for a vehicle with 45,000. Other Toyota vehicles have been recalled for defective water pumps. I believe the investigation into defective water pumps needs to be expanded as this is not a normal failure.
My brake accumulator pump started to fail on my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. This is a well documented weakness on these cars. There is hundreds of posts online with frustrated owners having this part fail (prius and Camry Hybrid), and Toyota claim there is no problem with it; yet when it is replaced, they replace the part with a re-designed and different part! the cost of the part alone is $1900+ and installed by the dealer it is about $2700! this part is also unique to the hybrid braking system on this car, yet it is "not covered" by the hybrid system 10 year 100k mile warranty. This is an extreme safety risk as I have seen other posters have their brakes fail at high speeds due to this issue. The water pump is also notorious for failure on this car at low mileage and no recall has been issued to date.

The water pump failed resulting in engine over heating - potentially disabling vehicle.
The water pump failed. I was told by my local service center that they are seeing many of the failures, specifically the 2007 hybrid with the 4 cylinder engine.
A few months before the check engine light came on, I started to notice some unusual noise from a part under the hood at the far right side, behind the head light. In the beginning it just hummed very loud when I stopped the car. Then it became worse, I could hear the noise even during driving. I took the car to the dealership and they told me this was normal for hybrid car. I didn't believe them but couldn't argue with them because I know very little about cars. Then one day in early June of 2012 the check engine light came on and the brake became soft. So I immediately took it to the dealership and this time I was told that a part called an actuator needs replacement. The cost would be over $3000. I was totally shocked and couldn't believe that a car with less than 70k on it and just out of the warranty would have this kind of problem. After some negotiations with the dealership they agreed to charge me about half of the price. Toyota had a reputation for reliability and it was the reason that I bought the hybrid car. Just a few months ago, in October 2011 the water pump was also broken, which cost me about $200 after some haggling about their warranty. Obviously the actuator failure is a more serious problem and I've learned from other customers that they have had exactly the same problems (water pump and actuator) around the same mileage range. So this is clearly a common problem. I am filing this complaint in joining others to force Toyota to address these problems.
