1 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/11/2026

While driving my 2026 Toyota camry le hybrid at approximately 10 mph in a parking lot, the vehicle accelerated on its own without any input from me. I applied hard braking to bring the vehicle under control. No collision occurred. The specific component or system that failed is unknown — I suspect the speed control, powertrain, or electrical throttle system, but this has not yet been diagnosed. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the vehicle accelerated unexpectedly at low speed in a parking lot, an environment with pedestrians, parked vehicles, and other close-proximity hazards. I had to brake hard to stop it, which could have resulted in a collision with another vehicle, a pedestrian, or a fixed object had I not been able to react in time. The problem has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer. I reported the incident to Toyota the day after it occurred; Toyota opened case number 260811002989 and scheduled a diagnostic inspection appointment. As of this filing, that inspection has not yet taken place. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms before or during the incident. The dashboard showed no malfunction indicators at any point.

2 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/18/2026

I had just bought the car from the dealer and was to drive it back home. I got about 30 miles from the dealership and the check engine light came on. It stated malfunction in the awd system so now on two wheel drive then it stated start control malfunction and finally hybrid system malfunction. I returned it to the dealership and they said that the first diagnostic stated it was throwing high voltage. Looking on line when I got home I noticed the recall of many Toyota camrys for the loose bolt causing this issue and there is yet to be a fix for it. The manufacturer should take all those cars back so they cannot be sold and cause a risk till they can fix it. It makes a dealership look bad and puts innocent people at risk if they are not aware of the issue.

3 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/13/2026

While actively moving at highway speeds on July 13, 2026, the vehicle suffered an instantant, total loss of all 12v electrical auxiliary power. The dashboard flashed 'hybrid system malfunction' and 'drive-start control malfunction' before all digital instrument clusters, center infotainment displays, and cabin lights went completely dark. Power steering and braking assist dropped to emergency backup thresholds, creating an extreme safety hazard. The vehicle was moved to a dealership where it has remained disabled for 17 days waiting on factory engineering guidance.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/03/2026

This is a manufacturer safety recall (NHTSA #25v869) for a loose bolt inside the hybrid inverter that could cause loss of motive power or a vehicle fire. The vehicle was sold to me as new with the recall already open and unrepaired. As of this date, Toyota has not made the remedy available, more than 6 months after the recall was announced. I am concerned about driving the vehicle given the fire/power-loss risk described in the official recall notice.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 05/23/2026

Toyota is putting people who purchased their new vehicles at risk. They have my car sitting here with an extraordinarily dangerous recall which they promised to fix by March but they haven't & it is already nearly June. It literally says the car can blow up. The recall says there's a belt problem & it can blow up at certain speeds & it can be fatal. That is crazy. If they cant fix it then they should recall the entire car & give us our money back so we can buy something safe. This is insane already.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 05/23/2026

Saturday may 23 at night my car started showing a message that states “braking power low stop in a safe place see owner's manual” I took it to Toyota on Tuesday may 2026 they said it was fine and nothing was wrong even after I said that message kept appearing at least five times each time I was driving the vehicle since Saturday. After they checked it the problem got worse and now it appears 95% of the time I’m driving. Not just that but on may 27 at approximately 9:10 pm my check engine turned on and also system lady took turned on and secondary collision break malfunction turned on. Along side many other warning comes and go but the main ones that stay are the check engine and the braking power low one. I am worried because this all started happening whenever I accelerated even just a little bit and it could end up causing accidents.

9 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/09/2026

The vehicle experienced a safety-related issue involving the hybrid system, which may cause sudden loss of power while driving. This issue is associated with a manufacturer recall (Toyota campaign 25tb15). Due to the risk of power loss, the vehicle was deemed unsafe to drive. The vehicle was taken to a dealership for repair, where the issue was confirmed. However, no repair has been completed. The vehicle has remained at the dealership for over 3 months without a confirmed repair timeline. This creates a significant safety concern, as loss of power while driving could increase the risk of a crash, especially at highway speeds. No accident, fire, or injury has occurred, as the vehicle has not been driven due to the safety risk.

14 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Over the course of my ownership of this car, Toyota Camry Hybrid 2012, all 4 lock actuators have malfunctioned at least once. Recently, the driver's front side lock actuator stopped working for the second time and the only way to lock and unlock this door, is to do so manually. I paid for the repair the first time in January of 2016, $642, paid to run the diagnostics for the other three doors that went out at the same time, December 2016, and was quoted $656 today, may 2019, to repair the same driver side front door again. Toyota goodwill covered the other three doors beyond the cost of the diagnostics. I feel that they only covered the cost in December of 2016 to prevent me from issuing a complaint. This is only an issue when the vehicle is stationary. Safety issues could arise when you need to quickly enter the car in an unsafe neighborhood.

17 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 02/14/2019

I was driving my vechicle yesterday that was just in the shop since Saturday saying that they replaced everything that was wrong because previously my breaks locked up on I-95 and I couldn't stop. I got the vechicle back yesterday and I was driving home from work and my breaks failed again causing me to rear end the person in front of me. I could not stop. Absolutely no breaks!! the vechicle was in motion trying to come to a complete stop. I believe the abs break aculator / module in the vechicle is bad. The company whom I bought it from I believe should take responsibility for this accident considering they're the ones who stated they fixed the vechicle.

While braking at very low speeds, the brakes on the car lock up at the slightest application of pressure on the brake pedal. This makes it impossible to maneuver in tight spaces (like garage or parking space) without neck-jerking sudden stop and go driving. The problem occurs intermittently, and most often after car has been parked for several hours. The problem has occurred in warm, humid florida, cold, wintry missouri, and on virtually every type of road surface and every type of weather.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid

While driving on roads/highways, at any speed, the driver's side (l) blind spot monitor intermittently fails to function properly, often falsely indicating other vehicles in the blind spot, while in reality, no other vehicles are present, or by not signaling while other vehicles are present. Recently, while driving on an interstate highway, the monitor illuminated (signaling a vehicle in the blind spot) and stayed lit for over 20 miles before going out. The problem occurs randomly, regardless of weather, time of day, speed, and presence or absence of metallic objects around my vehicle.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/28/2017

Takata my 2007 Toyota hybrid has been behaving badly, with just 190k miles. My traction battery monitor would show 7 bars falling to 1 bar instantly. Instantly, as I would be looking at it and it just dropped that fast. It would get parked with a full charge indicated and then the next morning one bar. Sometimes it goes into e mode and shuts off while driving on highway ive been close to crash with other vehicles. The ecm throws a warning, "check hybrid system". I borrowed an actron scanner that had the capability of basic hybrid codes and one code was present "p0a80". Also, check vsc would show all the times. Somewhere I read this is normal with p0a80 as the ecm shuts down the vsc to conserve power. .

27 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

When driving on local roads, the abs, slip and warning lights would come on suddenly. I would experience a severe decrease in brake function (I would need to slam on the brakes to get them to apply properly). This happened four times before the service center was able to diagnose a failed abs actuator. This is apparently a known issue for the Camry Hybrids, as Toyota issued an extended warranty for 2006-2011 Camry Hybrids for this very problem. (unfortunately, I have a 2012 hybrid and the service center would like to charge me over $3k (!) to fix this issue. ).
