1 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2010

While traveling at about 50 mph the gauges went instantly from 50 to 0. At the same time multiple warning lights came on the dash. The car still had power when stepping on the gas, lights and radio were still on. When attempting to turn to get off the road, then steering wheel clicked and locked. There was no steering. My brakes did work. It was as if the car had shut itself off and then back on, but didn't unlock the steering. The car was new with less than 300 miles on it. This was the first incident of this kind, I had no other problems with the car until then. The car was towed to the local dealership. It was tested the next day & I was told it was a speed sensor, but the sensor was not replaced. They connected it to the computer and reprogrammed it and said it was good to go. I refused to accept it until they could tell me why it happened and what they had replaced to guarantee it would not happen again. They were unable to do so and ended up replacing my car with a new one.
