Hi, I [xxx] the owner of Toyota Corolla 2010 (license plate: [xxx], licensed with the state of maryland VIN [xxx]), residing at [xxx], while trying to park in my residential apartments at the above mentioned address (at a speed of 3-5 mph), applied the brakes and all of a sudden it caused an unintended acceleration and I hit the huge metallic trash bins in front of me at a very high speed on October 28th, 2013. My left ear and neck are in great pain since then and my wife tejaswi peri who was the passenger along with me suffered left knee sprain. We have been in a state of utter shock and dismay since this incident as this was completely unexpected. I have been a safe driver since the past 7 years and have never had any accidents, violations etc. Also I never mistook the gas pedal for the brake during my whole driving career and I use only one leg for this purpose. My vehicle when I purchased in 2010 was inspected 2-3 times for this and other issues by the dealer/Toyota. The initial estimates as per my insurance agent are several grand (dollars) and the damage to the car is extensive. The insurance company's body shop is working on it. Please see the attachments that show the car was taken to the Toyota dealer within a few months of purchasing it for acceleration problems and also the edr reports, service statement showing that this model is a part of a open recall service by Toyota. I opened a case with Toyota USA headquarters about the unintended acceleration that caused the accident yesterday. The case# is [xxx]. Toyota 2010 Corolla. Sudden accelerator problem: after having the recall update to our Corolla, a few months later, we experienced a sudden acceleration problem with our car. From a parked position next to the curb, we put our foot on the brake and then put the car in reverse to back away from the car in front of us, and the car suddenly accelerated and proceeded to jump over a curb and hit a tree next to us on the side walk. Again, this was when the car was in reverse, so the acceleration was going backwards, with our foot on the brake. After taking our car to the Toyota dealership for consultation on sept 7th, they indicate that they could not find anything wrong with the car and we would need to contact Toyota directly on this problem. It is now nearly a month later, and we still have not been "visited" by the Toyota engineering team. We were assigned a case number by Toyota and told to wait to hear from them. We are still without our car and waiting some kind of formal inspection from the Toyota corporate team. The local Toyota dealer is trying to help as well and is also contacting Toyota corporate for assistance. This is not fair to be without our car and some reassurance from Toyota that this wont happened again to our car. As of this date October 1, 2010, no inspection has taken place on our car. We're still waiting.

I was driving my 2010 Toyota Corolla down the road. When I began to approach a red light at intersection, I applied brakes to slow vehicle down. Instead of slowing down, however, the car began to rapidly accelerate. This required me to pass two vehicles waiting at red light in order to avoid collision. Remembering what Toyota CO said to do when their vehicles are speeding out of control, I put car in neutral and continued to apply brakes, which had no effect whatsoever. I continued to speed down double-lined road, passing vehicles in my lane. Then when other vehicles were coming in other lane in my direction, I was forced to slam full speed into vehicle in front of me in my lane. This caused my vehicle and that vehicle to roll over. When my family and I had first heard of the recalls with Toyota in February of 2010, we immediately took car to Toyota dealer in FL where we vacationed for the winter. We were assured that since our VIN# indicated it was japanese-made, we were not part of the sticking accelerator recall. They told us to remove driver-side floormat anyway, which we immediately did. As you can see, we took every precaution possible, and as my car was careening out of control, I did everything I was supposed to do and it did not matter. And please do not insult victims of these tragedies by indicating that it is possibly driver error. Clearly there is something major wrong here and these vehicles need to be taken off the road.

Extremely worried after the news regarding the sudden acceleration of Toyota cars. I purchased Toyota Corolla 2010 recently and I am asking if I have the right to return it since Toyota didn't solve the acceleration problem yet and halted the sale of Corolla 2010. This car is the only car we have and whenever I am driving it now I am so worried about my kids and my family being in a car that may have acceleration problems at any time. Also, I have another concern that my car jump fast after each stop and the break response should be faster.

In November of 2009 I purchased a new Toyota Corolla sport and within 2 days noticed the tachometer racing even when the car was in neutral. I also noticed that when I would take my foot off the gas and press in the clutch the tachometer would accelerate as much as 2000 rpm and stay there. I have taken my car back to the Toyota dealership where it was purchased three times in 2009 and once in 2010 regarding unexplained acceleration. Even when I am not in the car and the car is idling all of a sudden the engine suddenly accelerates from . 6 on the tachometer to 6. 4 on the tachometer. The dealership says they can't replicate the issues and have advised me not to drive the car. When I took the vehicle in the last time I had 5 recording on my cell phone where you can clearly see the tachometer over 6,000rpm with no one in the vehicle. They have told me they can't help me at this time. I am concerned about how long this action will take as I need my car.
