2011 Toyota Corolla. Consumer writes in regards to takata safety airbag recall. The consumer requested information as to why the driver's side airbag was not included in the recall.
I received the recall notice from Toyota. On October 9, Toyota, pharr, texas location replaced the airbag on the passenger side. Your website states that if the airbag, deemed defective, were to deploy, would cause harm to the occupants of the car. Does this mean that if the airbag on the drivers side, is not defective, and thus, on impact, would not shoot deadly schrapnel onto the occupant????? somehow, it seems that if the passenger side is defective, would not the drivers side airbag also be defective?.

Takata recall: we received a notice dated 5. 23. 16 informing us of the recall on the passenger side airbag and that we would receive a 2nd notice when a remedy became available. We have not received a second notice and Toyota indicates [via website and phone call] a remedy is still not available and will not be until 2017. In the meantime, we have been told to "not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat. " it does not appear that Toyota is resolving this issue in a "timely manner" and we are left without the full use of our vehicle.
********takata recall********* received the notice over a year ago. Still waiting. I was told because it is the passenger side air bag it is not a priority - but it is important enough to be told that I should not allow anyone to ride in the passenger seat until this is remedied. This is very inconvenient. They offer no help with a loaner car or help with paying for a rental vehicle until this is remedied!.
Takata recall our car srs lights on , while diaganosed in Toyota service centre they found fault as 'an open in right side air bag harness' , for this they asked to replace the air bag harness at the cost of 1246. There is no accident or small collition till now. Then how this air bag problem will come. May be air bag quality is not good. Also for diagnosed they billed $122. This is too costly. Since we have not touched anything in this part how this kind of air bag issue is coming. Please help us on this issue. Is Toyota service called us for fix this air bag issue without cost then it would be appreciated.
