1 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 08/10/2025

When the sun is overhead (this happens daily in south florida) the reflection of the ambient light on the instrument panel cover makes it impossible to look at the information on the instrument panel. This essentially makes one drive while being blind. Not a safe concept. It is pathetic that no action has been taken against the company.

2 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/12/2024

Since purchasing this vehicle new, I've had several occasions (not on just the most recent date noted in this case) where the car will issue a false pre-collision alert and apply the brakes for about 1 second while using the adaptive cruise control. However, this happens while me and the drivers around me are driving "normally" and there are no vehicles in front of me nor attempting to merge into my lane. There does not seem to be a particular set of conditions that cause this false alert and they happen randomly, but it is startling when they happen since there is no observable reason for it. Fortunately, there has not been anyone tail-gating me when this happens because this could easily cause a rear-end collision if someone were following too close. I've notified my local dealer about this issue more than once, but they cannot find anything wrong.

Coolant bypass valve needs replaced. Car states 'engine maintenance required visit dealer. '.

4 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/15/2024

I drive under the acc system, the front traffic slows down on highway, but acc system do not automatically slows down. So I push the brakes, but the car didn't slow down either. The car crash directly into the front car. Currently the car is under insurance inspectation. After the crush happened, the car start automatically moving without engine on, when it's in the parking mode. An police officer stop the car from moving by manually push the car backwards.

5 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 01/20/2024

Adaptive cruise control (acc) is unstable in detecting the front car, not only in light rainy conditions but also in heavy rainy conditions. The acc fails to detect sedans and small suvs but can detect larger vehicles such as pickup trucks and full-size suvs. The car does not provide any warning sound or signal to the driver when failing to detect. This poses a significant safety risk as the driver may not be aware that the system selectively detects the front car in both light and heavy rainy conditions. The driver had barely avoided the accident.

6 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/02/2023

The adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning do not work in the rain. I have had 2 instances when using acc where the vehicle would continue the set speed even though vehicles in front of me have slowed down. I have had to manually brake to avoid rear ending the vehicle in front of me. I have had 1 instance where a vehicle merged into my lane and barely missed the front of my vehicle although my vehicle continued at the set speed and I came within what appeared to be inches of that vehicle and had to manually brake to avoid a collision. This always happens when cruising on the interstate in the rain. . . System works fine when dry. This is apparently an issue with all Corollas or Toyota safety sense 3 because the dealer told me they have had several complaints about this.

7 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/04/2023

Check engine light on. Cruise control stopped working. Fuel cap tightened.

8 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

Vehicle's cruise control got stuck and would not turn off by the brake, the cruise control off button. The only way it would shut off is by swtitching the car into “b-(low gear/engine braking). Was cruising at 70 mph, and then the cruise control kept speeding the vehicle up to 100 mph, until I switched it into the “b”-(low gear/engine braking). Now if I wasn’t familiar with this type of car this could have been a tragedy that could have taken place on August 01, 2022.

9 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/22/2022

When using cruise control, all warning lights come on while driving - check engine, parking, abs, everything. It stays like this for about a week and then stops until the next time you use cruise control. I have taken to the dealer and they acted like it wasn’t a problem and turned off the lights but it still keeps happening.

10 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 04/14/2022

My 2021 Toyota Corolla, with 3000 miles and less than a year on it, is repeatedly exhibiting a "check gas cap" warning message followed a day or two later by a "check engine, visit your dealer" warning. This has happened twice. I have returned to the dealer once to have the system reset, after which the same sequence of warning messages recurred. This message wipes out my dashboard display and keeps me from using my cruise control and radar distancing feature. I have not yet determined what other safety features are neutralized by this recurring malfunction. Emmett r. Vick.

11 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/01/2021

While driving the car started to sputter like it was going to die. When I stopped to gas the next day a gush of air came out of the gas tank when I took the cap off. I put gas in and then my car wouldn’t start. For 3 hours I tried and finally it started. Now I can have in park and it revs clear to the 5 sometimes then it starts sputtering. Every time I put gas in I have to sit for 3 hours then it starts. The trac off light on the dash is on as well so nothing works the lane control, cruise control, the emergency brake system.

12 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 09/26/2021

The vehicle does not keep the set speed. Ex. When cruise is set to 65, the vehicle will remain at 64 never making it to 65. This occurs with clear road ahead and no traffic.

13 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 07/15/2021

The problem seems to occur when activating the full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control (drcc) feature, as detailed next. During a recent trip, the car behaved in a potentially dangerous, life-threatening manner when the drcc function was activated. Specifically, the car seems to increase the rpm of the engine to dangerous levels when going down a slope even if there is a speed limit set using the cruise control. In other words, the car does not change gear properly to keep the rpm in normal ranges. The engine’s rpm getting close, entering the red zone indicated by the rpm tachometer, and staying there even for seconds may cause an engine explosion which at highway speeds can be extremely dangerous for the passengers and other nearby vehicles on the road.

14 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/16/2021

I had to drive around 600 miles to and from family funeral. As others have reported the cruise control on a down hill slope goes out of control. As I reached the top of a hill and started down the cruise control would accelerate to 4000 rpm ( it is really loud) the speed would start increasing and go 15-20 mph over what the cruise control speed was set at. I had to turn off the cruise control to regain control over the speed. I was afraid that something might happen if I did not. Where it seemed my car should down shift it was not. Something is wrong with the programming of the cruise control. This should not happen on a decline. Also, at one point when I was in the left lane and a car passed me on the right, my car slowed down really quickly. If someone had been behind me it could have caused a serious accident. This is my fourth Toyota and I have never had these problems before.

15 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 01/31/2021

Had a recall on the fuel system causing the system to potentially stall the vehicle. Had the car service but still when doing cruise control its still doing the same thing by reving the engine to high on rpm to potentially stall the vehicle. Potential safety problem.
