Toyota Corolla owners have reported 113 problems related to wheel (under the wheel category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Toyota Corolla based on all problems reported for the Corolla.
I have been in two accidents where both times I was ran off the road into a ditch. In neither accident did any of the air bags deploy but I definitely hit hard enough in which they should had. One time my child was in the back seat. I hit a ditch filled with huge rocks the first accident was settled at over $1700 and the 2nd accident is still in the claims portion of the accident, where I was ran off the road. The air bags should had deployed but from the negative publicity it may had caused more damage, and thatbis very scary to think about seeing that my 5 year old was involved in one of the accidents. The accident was on a road with a speed limit of 35-40 mph with no stop signs or stop lights until the end of the estimated 2 mile road.

The wheel covers on the 2003 Toyota Corolla come off when the car is in motion in highway driving and fly into other cars. We have lost 3 wheel covers to date. They are very dangerous when they fly off. Many other Toyota cars with wheel covers have the same problem. The wheel cover have flown off on multiply dates.

I bought my car brand new in April of 2017 and had nothing but problems, tires are always flat, steering doesn't work right, when I turn my car on it sounds really loud. Brought it Toyota 10 times and they did anything, there is constant squeak noise and my roof feels like it's going to blow off when I am on the interstate. Gas mileage sucks Toyota states I got bad gas so they flushed it out but still hear that loud noise. My tires I have to fill up once a week but they say they are fine. Everything in this car is cheap and I hate it. They charged me 26 grand for a 17 thousand car without me ever knowing brandon Toyota is the worst. Spoke to the general manager and service manager nothing is ever taken care of.

We believe something punctured the front left wheel of the car when driven down a street and the emergency brake when released did not stop the car. The car skid into parked cars and air bag was not deflated even though it was serviced under the airbag recall. Passenger sideview mirror, right body of car is damaged, side and portion of front and back bumpers became damaged. No out of pocket expenses made. The damaged car sits in our driveway soon to be towed and sold for parts.
Rear wheel bearings failure (safety defect) -- 2003 Toyota Corolla. Excerpts from my e-mail to Toyota motor sales, u. S. A. Inc. Follow: "the local Toyota dealership has recently recommended replacing the rear hub axle bearings due to a humming noise, at a cost of over $1,000. 00. This recommendation has floored me as this type of repair for a vehicle with only 90,000 miles does not seem to be consistent with the quality standards promulgated by Toyota motor corporation. Apparently, this problem is widespread as a technical service bulletin (NHTSA #10015608) was issued. " the Toyota customer experience center subsequently acknowledged the rear wheel bearings issue addressed in my e-mail above, creating case # 1703301220. Despite Toyota having issued technical service bulletin #00105 on this very matter, the Toyota representative at the customer center clearly stated in a subsequent phone call there is no warranty coverage, no customer notification, and no-recall issued. After contacting the Toyota customer experience center, I was reluctant to replace the rear wheel bearings for almost $1,000. 00 if the only issue was with humming which blended in with normal road noise. But the mechanics at the local Toyota dealerships subsequently warned me that failure to have the rear wheel bearings replaced meant I was driving a car with a serious safety hazard with a significant probability of wheel failure (I. E. The bearing(s) could completely fail at any time and cause the rear wheel to fall off the car). I then authorized the local dealership in April 2017 to replace the wheel bearings (at my expense). One cannot but wonder how many accidents or incidents in connection with rear wheel bearings have occurred with Toyota Corollas for drivers who unknowingly drive their vehicles with rear wheel bearings that have been compromised or failed.
Audio/navigational unit is not functional, rendering all features (other than actual mobility) non-functional - I travel/live in a hands free city/state, and specifically purchase this vehicle for audio/navigational unit and the blue tooth technology. Also, flashes light uncontrollably while it constantly reboots (distraction - especially at night and during inclement weather). Cannot access diagnostic information on vehicle (tires, engine, etc. ) as promoted/promised from entune software. Toyota has a known issue but will not replace the unit (t-sb 0172. 16) and states it was due to warranty expiration, but never notified customer (I. E. Me) about issue even when I reached out to Toyota to resolve. Even when I notified a local service/dealership, they ignored my safety concerns. Originally Toyota said they would help (September), now (December) they are stating they will not.

When the vehicle is stopped at a stop light, the car will jerk hard like someone is pushing the accelerator down all the way while I have the brakes engaged. This has happened only 5 times in the past 2 years. . . . But it is enough times that is really scares myself and my kids. The filters (cabin filter?) always stinks like mold. My son has acute asthma and I have to change it out every 2 or 3 months to keep him from having an asthma attack. The blue tooth (hands free phone), the caller on the other end can not hear anything, but a windy noise like I am in a wind tunnel--- and forget about even talking on it above speeds of 40 mph!! the road noise is worse than my 2002 sebring convertible that I used to have. The steering wheel will not let me scroll down the phone numbers like my 2015 Corolla used to let me do. I will probably never pay for a 2017 corrolla cash again. Too many issues.
The seatbelts lock up as soon as you try to buckle them. Never releasing. Very dangerous! especially for children. This happens every day whether one-4- or 5 occupy the seats. The flooring especially on the drivers side is ruined. It is becoming a huge hole. Very cheaply made carpeting. Seats are horribly uncomfortable. Never a relief of pain in any. I and my family all are disabled. With back and hip damage. Steering does as it chooses rather than going in the direction you drive it. It sways constantly. Finally. There is no way to make it comfortable with the ac or heater on withou a contestant battle. It is chlostraphobic in any seat. When the car was sold to me. I was deceived and lied to. I found a chunk behind the hub cap about two weeks ago missing out of the wheel well. I have had to refill the tires numberous times. This car can be parked, driving, sitting at a light, doesn't matter. It is offensive and I was taken advantage of. Especially by only being given $750 for my pontiac grand prix that still had a wonderful motor and transmission. I was told because it had overheated so bad I had to buy a new car. I simply no longer trust enterprise, and I am terrified behind the wheel with these seat belts. It is 5 of a family of 5 having these issues not just me. Please advise. This has been happening since we bought this car, not to mention the constant harassment involved and lack of professionalism with enterprise to handle this sale properly.

On March 23, 2013, I purchased four new cooper tires from sears auto center in lima, ohio, for my 1997 Toyota Corolla. The specific tires installed were cooper response touring m+s 175/65r14, dot u9ex lrc 4110, a08. Since that time, I have driven less than 30,000 miles on the tires and maintained appropriate tire pressure, maintenance, and alignment. In the early hours of this morning (October 30, 2016), the tire tread of the front passenger side tire separated from the tire, causing catastrophic failure and forcing me off the road. this incident occurred on I-475 north travelling at the speed limit, in the middle lane. It took less than ten seconds to coast to a stop. We were very fortunate that there were no other vehicles to impact ours before reaching the shoulder. Additional damage from this tread separation include destroying the wheel well, body damage, launching the headlight apart from the car, spontaneous release of wiper fluid on to the window as the tread ripped off from the tire, and other significant damage. The vehicle has been towed to toyonly, 1050 vijay drive, chamblee, GA 30341. While the tread separation has caused the aforementioned significant damage, the vehicle is otherwise mechanically sound. I am waiting for a response from cooper tires.

Whelp my 2016 Toyota Corolla l has a issue with the sensor this car is only a month old I tool it to the dealership and the stated the nitrogen in my tires are to cold, well its summer time in florida and nothing cold everyday I have had a issue with the sensor. Also my car feels like it is about to blow away when I am on the expressway , which is very scary.
I was told to file a complaint regarding the tread separation that occurred on my front drivers side tire. The brand name is kumho sense. A friend informed me it may be a defect with the brand of tire. I'm just thankful it didn't burst while I was driving 8 hours and killed me.

My car is in motion on a city street. The other car driver fails to yield the road approriately, caused accident. Airbags are not deployed.
Car was t-boned by other car & all airbags deployed causing injury to people in vehicle.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while switching into the right lane at approximately 70 mph in rainy weather, the vehicle jerked to the right and hydro planed. As a result, the contact crashed into the median. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained body pain and head aches that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000. Ss.
Flat tire. Vehicle came with Toyota aluminum or non-steel rims. Supplied, lug nut wrench does not fit lug nuts. Could not install spare tire. This could be a problem in a blowout or if the nail came out of the tire, especially in no cell phone areas(no bars). Got a 22mm socket but it is loose, 21mm does not fit.

I heard a loud pop when driving at 25 mph then something started grinding all the way home. My husband checked the wheels and noticed the driver rear had to much negative camber. Checked and notice that two bolts were missing from the rear hub assembly that hold it the axle and the two that were left were very loose that I was lucky the wheel didnt fall out . He checked the passenger side hub assembly and all bolts were loose , he re- torque all bolts to 45 ft lbs as recommend and added blue locke tight tothe bolts and ordered new bolts for the driver rear. Rear hub assemblies are original never been touched . Thanks.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that the tpms warning light flashed several times. The contact took the vehicle to a tire repair shop who replaced all four tires but the contact was uncertain of when the failure may recurr. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: 14v168000 (air bags) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable timeframe to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. Dyd.
The right front of the vehicle hit a stationary vehicle on its left rear, at 25 plus mph, with no advance braking. Driver experienced full sun blindness. Naturally the quarter panels were destroyed, but the damage included the suspension, wheel universal, car doors were pushed together, and there was even a rumble on the roof. Car totaled. No air bags ever deployed. This said, the driver was unscathed and the alignment was still good. The issue given that the doors were pushed together, there was a rumple in the roof, both tires were deflated, and the universal and axels would have to be replaced (this was the minimum identified damage), this seems like a significant impact.
Got into what could've been a minor accident, but the car was totaled, however, the airbags did not even deploy. Before the accident, the seatbelt would lock at random times, which could cause an accident. I was making a u-turn on a state road. Once hit, the entire tire went under the car and the entire front came off, which was why I was surprised that the airbags did not go off.
Tamara recall my airbags did not deploy during impact. Constant lowvtire pressure and electrical issues.
I bought a brand new 2015 Corolla s on March 2015, a month later I started to hear creeking noise while depressing the brakes pedal, went to the dealer they tested the car and said "yes we heard the sound but your brake is totally perfect and is safe to drive". I continued to drive the car but the same sound like crackling still there when I brake. I went again to them, they kept the car for two or three days and they said "we changed the front brake shims". And most importantly they said, your car now is totally safe. After that I started to feel that the brakes do not stop the car as fast as it was before nor as you would expect from a new car plus a new creeking sound that I couldn't detect from front or rear wheels, at that time it was my first scheduled maintenance visit so I told them about it, then they said "we tested the car and the brakes work well", I said "I know it works but not perfectly & not as fast as before", they said "don't worry it's safe". A year later "January 2016", I had a small freeway accident where I hit the car in front of me due to a quick stop and I hit my brakes as fast as possible but still hit the car and the insurance said I'm at fault. A year and half later "July 2017" my wife had a big big freeway accident also due to a quick stop from the car in front, we had a massive damage to our car and of course the insurance said we are at fault. Two month later "September 2017" same thing happened a quick stop on freeway and at this time I felt like there is something weird going on, I had enough time and distance between me and the car in front but still I crashed him. Every time I was saying I cannot prove that there is a defect within the car itself, but I still have the same feeling of the slow responding brakes and the feel that the car runs under my feet uncontrollably when I hit my brakes even as fast and powerful as possible.
I was driving brand new vehicle only 2 hours old . I was in extreme right lane when tractor trailer from middle lane attempted to change lanes ,into my lane severely impacting drivers side of vehicle no side air bags deployed and traffic in front of me came to a sudden unexpected slow down and I impacted vehicle in front of me and again no air bags deployed also when tractor trailer hit me I immediately hit brakes and both front tires exploded. No safety items in car deployed causing me to have multiple injuries.
Tires or rims not sealed properly causing the tires to lose air pressure. Loss of air in one or all tires could cause a steering failure , a blow out and a loss of control on highway driving. In 1 1/2 years pressure has fallen to as low as 17 lbs pressure on all tires. Dealer said it is normal and keep checking pressure. I would like to have the problem fixed by either the rims or tires replaced as they are surely not sealing properly. So far the air has leaked out four times in the 1 1/2 years and 3388 miles of driving. The dealer acknowledged the problem and that other Toyota customer have had similar complaints but nothing can be done about it. Dealer info : village Cadillac /Toyota 2431 s, suncoasr blvd homosassa FL, 34448 352 626-5100 cust # 523914 invoice # 381824.
I was driving at about 20-25 mph when I felt the sterring wheel get out of control I tried to steer it in the right direction but it just steered to the right and at the moment the steering wheel locked up and I couldnt control the car causing me to run into a side walk and almost hitting a pole also the accident caused my whole wheel and suspension to completely break also the cv drive shaft came off no one was hurt but I am really concerned that if this had happened on a highway road there could have been casualties and I want a response from Toyota and help because this is very unfortunate.

I rented a car from payless car rental at the orlando airport. After being on the road for approximately 30 miles, the car got a flat tire. We pulled over changed the tire and took it to wal mart for repair. The mechanic at wal mart informed us the tire was unrepairable. The inside of the tire at inner wall damage that he said couldn't have been done by us. He informed us that this tire was driven on flat many times before. I have pictures that show the inner wall damage and it actually looks like the tire was dry rotted. Payless informed me that this was my responsibility to fix. I then returned the car to their company and had to pay for one day with the car. I had the car for less than a day (approx. 5 hours). I am making a complaint because they clearly do not inspect their cars before they are rented out to people. I am so lucky that nothing serious happened to us because that could have been a major problem if something had. They are a terrible company. I am requesting that you look into how they inspect their cars before they are given out to people. I am sure I am not the first person or the last person that will have this happen to them. How can a company run when it gives paying customers lemon's to drive.

I was pulling into a parking space & slowing down. I turned left into the space and, of course, had my foot on the brake and my car suddenly accelerated on it's own. I kept pushing on the brake but it kept going. The higher than usual curb at the shopping center, I suppose, is what stopped the car, though my foot repeatedly kept pushing the brake. I tried to drive it home but it was not working. We had it towed to Toyota in rockwall. They had someone look at it. The person that looked at it called my home to get my story but asked my husband what took place. I didn't get the message till the next day. When I was getting ready to call him back, my husband told me that he called and said he did not need to talk to me. How can you legitimately tell me what I say happened did not happen when you haven't even talked to me. I was the only one in the car, not my husband. They checked out the "black box" I suppose and sent me a very nice letter basically telling me what I told my husband happened, did not happen. I do not lie. I was there and I know what happened. I was very disappointed in the way that this was handled. I felt like how could I even fight this, Toyota is a big corporation. I am just one person who had an incident with one of their vehicles. It would be my word against theirs. I appreciate NHTSA taking the time to hear my side of what happened. My husband and I are fans of Toyota vehicles. I have several camrys and my husband presently drives a prius and a tundra so again, we are very disappointed in the way that this was handled.
2014 Corolla with the premium wheels (black and silver). The tires loose tire pressure faster than any other car requiring me to add air every month. They loose 3-6 psi each month and the weather +/- 10 degrees change accounts for 1 psi loss rule doesn't fit because its always 90f in florida. This is an issue for everyone because we typically don't check tire pressure more frequent than 4 x a year for each season. Not sure if this happens to those with the regular rims but I have the sport Toyota rims that came with the s plus trim.
The car suddenly stopped and soon caught fire by itself when I was driving on 101 & lawrence express, California. Report shown by insurance company said "found cyl #1 rod is bent and has punctured the eng. Block causing oil to leak also the block impacted the ac compressor possibly causing the veh to catch fire melting the ac compressor harness,rf wheel speed harness, front bumper, wheel and wheel liner. No other failures seen or demo" this happened a week after I had my car inspected and maintained. Tried to reach Toyota, but they are not responding.
I made a left hand turn and was hit on the front passenger side. The force of the hit spun my car in a full circle, damaged the entire front of the frame, knocked off the front bumper, caused the trunk to open, and caused severe damage spanning the whole front end of the car including the driver's side door which I was unable to open. During this accident, the airbags did not deploy. The estimated cost for repair for my Corolla was 13,000 dollars.
Car was t-boned on passagner side of car. In monroe county, key largo, FL. On us1.

This happened on I-95 north in maryland between MD-32 and MD-175. At highway speed, the manual transmission of my 2006 Toyota Corolla came apart. The car immediately started making noise and began to shake. I lost control for a few seconds from the shaking and the feeling as if someone was pressing on the brake pedal. Once I gathered that something had failed (vs. A collision with a small object), I was able to supply extra gas and grip the wheel hard to prevent an accident. While making my way off the highway, the car squealed and grinded. I was only able to get into gear after several attempts at the two stop lights between the highway and the first parking lot I could find. I was fortunate. . Read more...

Just saw another complaint about tires, I have a tire I have to put air in every 2-3 months. Didn't give it much thought until I read other complaints about tires. I know I hadn't done anything wrong, it happened too fast. I've been filling it with air not thinking about it, but now I've heard others with tire issues, I thought I'd better submit an inquiry. May be too late for me because I've not acted until now, but may give assistance or lend credence to others.
