Four problems related to front driver side air bag inflator have been reported for the 2009 Toyota Matrix. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2017

Takata recall - 16v-340 &17v-006 Toyota does not have a solution for the airbag inflator (zone b) this is only family vehicle. My working vehicle, I read the details on the recall notice. Metal debri can fly if the airbag is deployed. I have a 10 month old that rides in the back seat and am afraid the debri will reach her as well. I would appreciate if Toyota would work with me to find a solution immediately!.

2 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

Takata recall--I received a front passenger airbag inflator notice back in August 2016 and called immediately to have this repaired. Beaman pontiac said they would call when the part was in. I called back in January of 2017 and they said the part was still not in. Today 8/16/17 the part is still not in. This is unacceptable. In January they gave me a rental and I still have it. I would like my car back. But I don't want the liability of someone riding in my car or me in it with my husband driving being killed and Toyota not responsible since I received this notice.

3 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2016

Takata recall - since receiving June 9, 2016 safety recall (interim notice), I have not received additional info from manufacturer for when takata front passenger airbag inflator (zone a) will be replaced. When will the replacement of the airbag inflator or the airbag assembly finally become available??! this is an unreasonable risk that can result in serious injury or death!!.

4 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2016

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Matrix. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v340000 (air bags) for the passenger frontal inflator. The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The dealer had to order parts and stated that they would contact the owner once they arrive. A month later, the contact called the dealer back and was informed that they had to order the parts again. The dealer stated that they could only hold the parts for a month when the contact disclosed that she was going on vacation. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
