The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Prius. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v487000 (air bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
I was hit in the back by an SUV (my speed=40 mph, the SUV's speed=70 mph). As a result of the impact, my Prius flew off the road, hit the roadside railings, and then rolled over 4 times landing upside down. However, none of the airbags deployed. This includes the front, side, and curtain airbags. The vehicle was serviced at a Toyota dealership a few years ago where they performed the airbag recall. However, the airbags did not deploy at all. Only sheer luck saved me from death due to the airbag malfunction.
The airbag sensors for my passenger seat do not work. Regardless of if there is someone sitting in the passenger seat, buckled it, the system indicates that there is no one sitting in the seat and that they are not buckled in. This is of course a safety issue since the airbags would likely not go off even if someone was sitting in the seat. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. They first appeared shortly after I purchased the vehicle from the last owner. The vehicle was lightly used and is very clean, and I have no reason to believe the passneger seat was abused in any way. My concern is this: this airbag sensor issue is a recall I have seen for other 2010 Toyota Priuses. I understand that in the systems, this recall does not show up for my car. However, I think it's interesting and worth looking into that I have the same make, model, and year, and my vehicle is having the exact same issues. This is an issue that was not triggered by any crash/collision, and I did not have anyone even sitting in my passenger seat prior to this issue, so it seems to be purely a system issue that I could not have prevented myself.
Thank you.
Abs system displayed airbag symbol displayed brake symbol displayed seat belts light flashing airbag system showing off. Toyota dealership is aware of the problem with the abs system along with the items mentioned. Accident could have been avoided contact if the abs system was working. Airbags did not deploy. Advise Toyota corporation on 27 February 2023 file number 230-227-00 2210 in regards to the abs they were also advised of the airbag symbol displayed in the seat belt fasten flashing on driver side when an individual is seated in the car and buckled in. Vehicle has not been inspected yet however on Monday 6th of March it will be inspected by copart, by the direction of the usaa insurance company.
The driver airbag deployed without an accident while driving in the highway. The airbag deployment caused near control lost of the car. I was lucky to not have any other cars near me so I managed to get the car safely out of the highway. The airbag deployment was scary and caused me not able to see through the windshield due to the gas from the airbag.
When start the car, passenger side airbag light stays on until shut-off the engine.
When start the car, passenger side both "airbag off" light and "airbag on" light on for a second, then both lights off, then "airbag on" light on and keeping on.
Recalls.
The airbag light on my 2010 Prius intermittently goes on and off. I have brought it to Toyota as well as my mechanic to see if anyone can find the problem. I've been told I need to change the seat and or the weight sensor isn't working. When I looked at the numerous Prius websites this is unbelievably common!.

Manufacturer recall number gou, is identified on your website as being part of the NHTSA recall number 16v487, recall status "recall incomplete".
I was on the freeway in traffic, going 60 mph. There was road construction coming up ahead. I depressed the brake pedal and nothing happened. The car didn't slow down at all and I crashed into another vehicle. My car was manufactured when the voluntary safety recall by Toyota was supposed to address this, but I received no notification, nor did thousand oaks Toyota, where I had the car serviced, communicate about it.
Takata recall I received a recall in January 2017 regarding curtain shield air bags in the roof rails of my car. I contacted my Toyota dealership in January and was told that they didn't have the part to make the repair but would call me when they got the part in. I called them two more times regarding this issue, most recently on 10-25-17 and was again told that they would contact me when they get the corrective part. Can you please tell me when the corrective part should be dispensed to the dealerships? what is a reasonable amount of time to expect this to be corrected and what, if any, action should I pursue?.

I have a recall notice with a date of June 28, 2016. I scheduled an appointment with gene messer Toyota in lubbock, TX on September 9, 2017. I showed the recall notice to the guy at the service station and was told to wait for a second letter saying that parts are available. The guy did not even bother to order the parts. I was rejected right away. I don't think another letter is suppose to come because of the timeline, but that was what I was told to do.
Srs light illuminated. Toyota diagnostic completed at local Toyota dealership. Diagnostic indicated failure of spiral cable (clock spring). . . . Similar to other Toyota vehicles that are part of a recall. Contacted Toyota 1-800-331-4331. Prius is not part of the recall, even though it seems that it has a similar failure. Toyota logged the complaint.
*takata recall I was involved in a major car accident during lunch hour on the 405 south fwy in los angeles, CA. I was struck by a semi truck who was merging into my lane and while I tried to get out of his way by speeding up. I was clipped by the truck and my car careened infront of the truck and was pushed before he applied his brakes. My car then spun out of control across all fwy lanes. I was hit by two other on coming cars before coming to a stop in the carpool lane. All cars including the truck were driving approximately 65-70 mph based on the police report. My foot was on the gas the entire time as I spun out of control. My complaint is regarding the airbags. None of the side or front airbags deployed at the time of all impacts. I had the vehicle inspected by an independant inspection company after contacting Toyota. I have yet to hear back from Toyota even though they have had the report for almost two months. I finally received the report from the inspector after threatning to have my attorney contact them. I don't know how to read the findings of the report since its all technical engineering. I am attaching the report and hope that someone in your department can review it and followup. Thank you.

There is a recall notice we received about a risk of spontaneous activation of curtain airbags and the potential for passenger injury. However, for several months I have been contacting various dealers to request the remedy and they say Toyota has filed to provide them with the parts to remedy the problem. It is very troubling to be aware of a recall while such delays occur in fixing it. Obviously, if my family were to experience injury due to this delay, we would definitely hold the manufacturer responsible.
Toyota has not remedied this known issue in a reasonable amount of time. I, the consumer, owner, and operator of the vehicle is continued at risk while and until Toyota prepares the remedy parts. Time to remedy is unannounced and vehicle operator feels at risk.
