My car's abs, traction, and brake lights are on. I took it to two shops and they both said my car was recalled and to have the dealership fix it. The recall is on the breaks. The brake pedal is also not fully working, there is an abnormal leak of brake fluid pressure. Both auto service places said to demand for the dealership to take car of this because there is a class action lawsuit going on for this car with this exact problem.

Was going 25 mph yesterday November 22, 2020 evening when 4 (brake, abs, traction & caution) lights came on dashboard. Pulled over the shoulder & turned ignition off. Restarted later & 4 lights still on. Following day, went to dealership & was told brake booster assembly need to be replaced due to internal fluid leak.
Tl the contact owns a 2009 Toyota Prius. The contact stated that a warning indicator flashed on the instrument panel regarding the brake system when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact also noticed smoke coming from the exhaust system. The contact inspected the vehicle and found a leak underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to salinas Toyota (700 auto center cir, salinas, CA 93907, (831) 444-0700) where it was diagnosed that there was an internal brake fluid leak; however, the vehicle was excluded from the manufacturer warranty campaign. The manufacturer indicated that the obt2 sensor did not show the specific diagnostic trouble code (dtc) to receive the brake actuator replacement covered by the campaign. The dealer and the manufacturer refused to honor the warranty campaign for dtc number: c1240. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

Abs,break and the vsc lights are on which is indicate that my actuator abs system fails in my Prius 2008 . Technician notes: c1256 accumulator low pressure. 0. 00 0. 00 c1391 abnormal leak of pressure. The abs brake actuator has failed. This a known issue. To rectify this issue we will need to replace the abs brake actuator, resistor, and flush the system. TSB-0032-16 states that this is a common issue caused by an internal brake fluid leak in the brake actuator. The front brake pads look almost new, and the rotors are in good shape. The rear shoes and drums are in good shape as well. The noise the customer is hearing is the abs engaging. This is covered under warranty from Toyota for 10 years, 100,000 miles. I called to see if they would honor this. They said that the vehcile is out of warranty. Brk0 rp r&r abs brake actuator and bleed the system. Vehicle is leaking brake fluid due to a failed brake actuator. Brakes failed due to the issue. I was told there was a prior extended warranty, but I never received the notification. Toyota gave me address and it was mailed to my old home. Vehicle is now 2 months past the extended warranty date. I feel this is a major safety issue and should have been handled as a recall and not an extension of warranty.

The abs/brake/stability lights are "on" on Prius dash. The brake lost pressure and mushy. The brake must be pumped a few times to get pressure and to stop the car. Either this is abs accumulator(just found out there is a recall while getting dealer appointment) failure or brake master cylinder failure. There is no fluid leak visible outside or indicator light but the fluid is almost empty in the reservoir. I don't have dealer diagnosis at this point yet. I'm not sure if the accident I have on 1/27/2014 that I've rear-ended another vehicle while traveling about 30-35mph and tried to stop but the car did not stop and bumped into the car in front. Fortunately, there is injury or major damages. At that time I didn't think of it that the brake may have issue or not but thinking back the brake didn't have enough bite to stop even though the car is traveling slow enough and there is ample distance. As far as I remember I do not feel the abs kicking in either. Hopefully, I'll find out more from dealer service. Thanks.
2008 Toyota Prius with unintended acceleration. An inspection was performed on the vehicle. According to the dealer, the front and rear brakes were completely worn, the rotors were also worn and were in need of replacement. The brake fluid was within normal limits and there was a fluid leak from the impact damage. The accelerator pedal was in good condition and moved freely with no binding or sticking. The drivers side floor mat was an aftermarket all weather mat, not properly secured. It was positioned forward where it could interfere with the accelerator. According to the letter the brakes caught on fire and a motorist extinguished the fire. Updated 12/30/10 updated 01/07/11.
