Other Fuel System problem #1

Had my 2006 Toyota rav 4 in the dealership for recall services. I also had recommended maintenance tuneup and brake fluid drain and refill. When I left the parking lot of the dealership, I crossed 2 lanes of traffic, braked, waited for alternate traffic to pass before turning onto the city street with my foot still on brake, the car accelerated, lurched then accelerated again without me pressing on the gas and continuing to brake when it accelerated. I called the dealership back the next morning and they towed it back in. After they performed several tests and test drive it they could not get it to duplicate the same thing. There were two previous occurrences that I did not report to this entity shortly after I purchased the car used. They happened close together and not again until the most recent event. I believe the prohibitive cost of throttle body and accelerator pedal module ($1,519. 40) which are the necessary repairs to actually fix the problem and not the floor mats, is why the previous owner sold the car to me. No warning forthcoming, even though I did ask.

Other Fuel System problem #2

Twice in the last 24 hours there has been sudden acceleration when braking for a stop.

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that the fuel in the vehicle was burning up. The contact had to refuel the vehicle very frequently. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic (cassady auto repair, 730 n cassady avenue, columbus, OH 43219) who stated that the vehicle was not under warranty. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.

Other Fuel System problem #5

Approximately one month ago the following warning signs appeared on my dash board: check engine vsc 4wd maint reqd I went to see a mechanic right away. He told me that a part known as an air sensor had stopped working. He gave me the following identification for the part: 02 sensor bank1 sensor1 he also told me that I needed to order the part through the dealer on the internet; I was not successful for there was no one responding with having the orinal toyata part. Next I called a local Toyota dealer who told me that the part in question was on back order nationwide for a wait of at least 3 months! meanwhile, I am told thati should expect higher gas consumtions and other related problems until the part was replace. I, as I am sure many other car owner, am outraged to be told that I have to wait at least 3 months for a part and then be placed on a long waiting list. This is the kind of staff, I thought tht only happened in controlled economies! this is costing me money in higher gas consumtion while the company is nowhere to be found with a satisfactory explaination and apology to customers!.

Other Fuel System problem #6

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that there had been extensive smoke coming from the muffler, strong fumes and a loud noise progressed. A police officer cautioned the contact to get the vehicle repaired or that he may be potentially ticketed with this being a safety hazard. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the muffler. The contact later received a special service coverage campaign letter in which the manufacturer stated that the dealer was to replace the muffler. The dealer refused to service the voluntary campaign from the manufacturer. The contact was uncertain as to why the manufacturer and the dealer had not complied to replace the part with a newly designed oem muffler. The failure mileage was not available.

Other Fuel System problem #7

As of 9/16/14 our 2006 Rav4 v6 currently has 45,790 miles and we just got a diagnostic from a Toyota dealership service that this part is defective a charcoal canister and an b1s2 O2 sensor needs replacement. Me and my wife love the SUV but with such low miles I would not have expected for this to have happened. From my quick research, I understand this could cause more engine damage if not repaired, I see a decrease in miles per gallon and a rough idling. I wanted to know if there is a recall for this part which is a charcoal canister and the O2 sensor. Toyota wanted $1,303. 00 total repair and for this low milage vehicle is not what I expect from a quality vehicle.

Other Fuel System problem #8

This has happened to me three times and to my wife once. As we begin to accelerate, either from a stop or as we are accelerating, we have a pause in acceleration. If feels like we are not pushing on the gas but that is not it. Once the gas pedal is released and we re-accelerate, the car moves forward normally. It has been very scary when someone is approaching and the gas does not move us forward. This has not happened in reverse.

Other Fuel System problem #9

While driving home after grocery shopping, about a 4-mile drive, the vvt-I oil hose "exploded" (the word used by the Toyota sunnyvale, CA), causing smokes to come out of the car's engine compartment. Immediately, the kids were pulled out the vehicle and placed in a safe location. We are very concerned about the safety of the 2006 Toyota Rav4's oil line. What would have happened if the family was travelling farther away from home?! there is a "limited service campaign" in 2010 that only covers certain VIN of 2006-2009 Toyota Rav4. Although, my vehicle does not fall under the lsc, my vehicle is experiencing the same design defect. March 01, 2010 Toyota announced phase three of a limited service campaign (lsc) on certain 2007 -¿ 2009 model year avalon and Rav4 vehicles with a 2gr-fe (v6) engine . . . For phase three, there are approximately. . . 89,000 Rav4 v6 (2007-2009 model year) vehicles involved in the united states. Last year, Toyota also announced phases one and two of this lsc on. . . Rav4 v6 (2006 model year). . . Toyota needs to take better responsibility for this defect and recall all Rav4 v6 with similar design defect.

Other Fuel System problem #10

Dear officer, I would like to bring your attention to a serious flaw with certain Toyota models related to excessive oil consumption. Bowing down to the thousands of consumer complaints early this year Toyota accepted that it is issue with their engine design which can put engine on fire or make the car completely useless after seize. Toyota indicated that they would provide parts early this spring, yet it is the end of June, and Toyota (a giant car manufacturer) still does not have parts to fix the serious problem Toyota consumers are suffering thru every day. The issue: certain Toyota model cars burn excessive oil. The proof of issue(from internet) 1. . Read more...

Other Fuel System problem #11

Oil pressure warning lit up at approximately 73,050 miles. Diagnosis is that the oil consumption is faster than normal. Servicer topped off oil and returned to servicer after driving $1200 miles. I was told everything is fine. Then it happened again at approximately 81,950 miles. Servicer again tops off with oil and returned after driving another $1200 miles. This time the servicer stated that they need to tear the car apart the before pinpointing the exact problem. Approximate cost to do this is maybe $3,000. Extended warranty expired at $75,000 miles.

Other Fuel System problem #12

At approximately 81000 miles, rav-4 started to burn oil at a rate of two quarts per every 3000 miles. Now at 120,000 miles, it burns one quart every 1000 miles. By comparison, my 1987 Toyota camry does not burn a drop.
