After receiving the Rav4hybrid fuel tank fix from Toyota in March of 2021, my vehicle still only has a fuel capacity of 12. 5 gals. The dealership states this is by design to allow room for splash back. 12. 5gals does not allow for the Toyota advertised range of 550miles per tank. I am getting ~470miles per tank, 80 miles short of the Toyota advertised. The fix from Toyota to replace the fuel tank and ascending unit had no change to my fuel gauge reading, distance to empty or fuel filling capacity. I contacted the dealer and took my vehicle back in again, the informed me I will never be able to put more then 12. 5 gals of fuel in my vehicle and will only get ~470miles per tank; they were not able to provide an answer to the contradiction of what they were advertising the range of my vehicle shown at 550miles per the Toyota documentation. Picture show is after filling the tank. 466 miles till empty and avg of 38. 3 mpg. If I had 12. 5 gals and avg of 38. 5 that would be 478. 75mile till empty. At 14. 5 gals, the Toyota advertised and 38. 5 avg mpg it would be 555. 35miles till empty. The only way 12. 5 gals gets to the advertised range of 550mile on one tank is if the vehicle exceded the Toyota advertise mpg of 41 city / 38 highway. It would require and average mpg of 44mpg.
Fuel tank does not fill to correct capacity. Whenever I fill my tank, even when the low fuel light is on, I am only able to fill approximately 9 gallons. The advertised capacity of the tank is 14. 5 gallons. This is verified by the range and fuel indicator on my dashboard. The fuel tank stops filling at about 3/4-7/8 of a tank and then range indicated between 380-400 miles. Toyota advertises a range on 580 miles. Taking into account my current mpg, I should be within about 40 miles of this number.
Unable to refill a full tank. Refilling when fuel empty light on should able to fill about 12 us gallons according to user manual but the car consistently able to fill only 10 us gallons when fuel empty light is on.
After the low fuel warning system comes on the tank will only take between 9. 2 to 9. 7 gallons. The fuel tank is a 14. 5 gallon tank and should not need filling until the vehicle goes over 500 miles. We usually get just under 400 miles per tank full. Somehow there is 5 gallons left in the tank when the low fuel warning light comes on.
New 2019 Rav4 hybrid xle with less than 2,500 miles will not fill up all the way when filling with gas. Autostops at 3/4 tank and cannot safely fill up the rest of the way.
Bought a 2019 Toyota rav 4 hybrid xle September 27 2019. . Reported gas filling problem to Toyota on December 23 2019 after coming to wits end on putting gas in vehicle. . Can only get about 9 gallons into the 14,5 gallon tank. When I try to get more gas in it it back splashes and spills out which is a major environmental and safety issue. . Also had dealer look at it and there is no fix at this time so they say so have requested full refund on vehicle as one of the dealer options given me. So I have three case numbers. One thru Toyota main headquarters then one thru dealer then another for refund request thru Toyota. . On another note I also reported to Toyota that my gas gauge gets stuck on full after going down properly for 100 plus miles driven then the gas gauge all of a sudden out of the blue goes up over full and its shows well over 550 miles before running out of gas which is miles to empty I can't even get it to after trying to fill it slowly for 15 -20 minutes. . . . Tried multiple resets to help correct but they don't work properly and that was confirmed by dealer that reset doesn't work correctly. .
On all occasions, when refueling the vehicle, the automatic shut-off function of the gas pump activates when the in vehicle gas gauge indicates about 3/4 full. I can then proceed to add approximately three more gallons if I "nurse" the flow of gas into the tank. I am acutely aware of the potential danger of this process in that gasoline could splash back at person filling the tank.
2019 Toyota Rav4 hybrid, unable to fill up with fuel. With fuel light on and 30 miles of range vehicle only allows 8. 8 gallons out of a 14. 5 gallon tank. Causing loss of about 200 miles of range. Fuel gauge stays slightly below f even after trying to top off. Unsafe as we never know how much fuel we have and could end up stranded or overfilling.
I purchased a 2019 rav 4 hybrid a few months ago. Each time I have filled the fuel tank, I have filled it until the fuel nozzle clicks off, but the tank never registers more than 3/4+ full. I have tried filling the tank at several different gasoline stations. I took the car back to the dealer's service dept. A few weeks ago, and they told me they could find nothing wrong, and they were able to fill the tank to full. However, I suspect that may have been accomplished by not inserting the nozzle completely into the fuel tank, because I spoke with the service department again today about the continuing problem, and that's what they told me to do. They also offered to accompany me to a gas station, implying that after decades of driving, I don't know how to fill a gas tank. Fortunately I logged onto the NHTSA website, and I see that many others have encountered the same problem. Something is wrong with the 2019 rav 4 hybrid fueling system, and the fix can't be to not fully insert the nozzle into the tank, or continue filling the tank after the nozzle clicks off. Doing so circumvents built in safety and environmental features, and is dangerous. It also negatively impacts the driving range that we have on a tank of gas.
Vehicle will not allow consistent fuel fill. Pump often shuts off well short of full tank. Usually stops around 7/8 tank. Attempting to fill the tank fully sometimes results in fuel overflow and spillage. It is impossible to consistently fill the tank anywhere near full. After a "fill", I drive 20 or 30 miles and am already at a gauge level of 3/4 tank. This is on a hybrid, with the computer showing 40+ mpg. There is a flaw in the fuel system that prevents filling the tank completely. My estimate is roughly 1. 5-2 gallons below full is when the pump shuts off.
When filling my gas tank the fuel system does the auto shut off before the fuel tank is full. The first few times I filled the new vehicle, I put the nozzle back in the pump thinking it was full, but when I started my car, the fuel gauge registered about 2-3 ticks below the full line, so maybe 7/8 full. The next few times I continued to fill well past the automatic fuel shut off and put in at least 2-3 gallons more. This goes against environment recommendations but I should be able to get a full tank of gas on a new car, not just 9 gallon on a 14. 5 gallon tank.
2019 Rav4 hybrid xle. Car fuel tank does not fill up completely to the advertised 14. 5 gallons. Only able to get about 10/11 gallons in the tank even when the low fuel indicator is on. Additionally when filling the tank with fuel, when the pump auto turns off because the tank is "full" the fuel lever indicator needle is no even close to the "f" mark. False advertising by Toyota and failure to appropriately address the known problem.
Unable to fill gas tank to it's fullest capacity. I find I have fill up very slowly, quits filling on an empty tank at 8 gallons, once I was able to get 10 gallons in. Fuel tank never will show that it is full. Also, the car will tell me how many miles I have left to drive. 2 times I was able to get it over 500 miles but most of the time it is under 450. I really don't believe I ever get the full miles listed.
This hybrid car has a 14. 5 gallon gas tank and on a full tank, you should be able to get 570-580 miles until empty based on an average of 39-41 mpg. When gas tank is on "e" with only 10 miles to empty, the tank will only take about 10 gallons of gas before shutting the pump off. It will not take a full 14. 5 gallons of gas, leaving my tank about 4. 5 gallons short of its capacity, which would be about 180 miles I am not getting on a full tank of gas. When gas tank is filled up completely, it is only readiing that I have about 400-450 miles to empty and that should be reading 570-580 so right there, it proves the gas tank is not filling up completely. Even going by the reduced reading of 400-450 miles, I only seem to be getting 350-370 miles to empty. Although driving conditions can vary this statistic, it seems way off considering most of my driving is local and non-highway. For example, I waited until gas tank had only 10 miles to go before being empty, filled it up completely (pump would not allow more than 10 gallons) and drove on that tank of gas until almost completely empty. I drove 352 miles on that full tank and based on that with the car having a 14. 5 gallon capacity tank, that only averages 24 mpg but since I could only fill it up approximately 10. 5 gallons, it works out to 33. 6 mpg, still below the stated average. So, I am not getting the stated mpg that I should as well as not being able to fill up gas tank to 14. 5 gallon capacity.
Gas tank is supposed to be 14. 5 gallons but unable to fill more than 10 gallons at a time (from almost empty). After filling until the gas pump stops (on its own), gauge reads approx 1 line below f. When starting with a full tank of gas, I can only get 370 miles before the gas warning light comes on and gauge appears close to empty.
When filling up the gas tank, it maxes out at 9-10gal when the tank is supposedly a 14+ gallon tank. I will wait until 20 miles to empty and then fill up and it still only fills up partially.
The fuel tank tank does not filling up completely and gives misleading information that it is fully filled up when in fact it is about 3-4 gallons short. The gas station pump automatically stop even the gas tank was not fully filled up.
I bought my car brand new in August 2019 and within a few months began to see issues with the gas tank fill-up and mileage gage. The main issue I saw was the gas tank not being able to fill all the way. When I fill the tank up normally (letting the gas pump run and click off on its own), the tank fill-up gage shows it only about 3/4 of the way full (I. E. The gas pump stops filling significantly short of the tank being full). After this, I forcefully top up the tank numerous times (6-7 times) to get it even close to the full mark on the tank gage. Even when the gage reads the tank as full, I've only filled up the tank about 10 gallons even though the tank is supposed to hold 14 or 15 gallons. Additionally, the miles to empty gage seems off from reality. When tracking my miles, the gage seems to be around 50 miles off calibration from how far I travel (I. E. When I travel 200 miles, the miles to empty reading decreases 250 miles). This may or may not be related to the gas fill-up issue. I called my local dealership regarding this issue, who informed me they were aware of this issue and have put me on a list of other owners who are dealing with the same issue. It seems that this is a very prevalent issue. It has been 6 months since purchasing my car and I still have not heard of any fix.
The fuel tank is faulty and does not hold 14. 5 gallons of gas as listed in the owners manual. The gas gauge is faulty and is not accurate. Otherwise Toyota is committing fraud by making such claims which my Rav4 does not deliver. This has been getting worse since I purchased the car in July 2019. The tank can only be filled with 10 gallons of gas after the fuel gauge is on empty and the distance to empty is zero with refuel now warning. There is a problem with a faulty gas gauge which is not accurate. Even after filling with 10 gallons, the fuel gauge does not register full and shows only 7/8 tank filled. 14. 5 gallons x 35. 7 mpg should show 517 miles to empty, but mileage computer only shows 392 mile range. 392 mile range divided by 35. 7 mpg is 10. 9 gallons in the tank. If this car has a 14. 5 gallon tank it is faulty. I have no idea how much gas is in the Rav4 and range. This will prevents me from taking long cross country trips in rural areas unless I have to gas up at small rural gas stations and not allow me the range to keep driving during long trips. I am told not to let the gas tank run dry since that could cause overheating of the fuel pump which could start a fire if hot enough. I want Toyota to fix my gas tank and gas gauge so that it will hold 14. 5 gallons of gas and allow me a driving range of over 500 miles as advertised. I want a safe car that gives me the mileage and claimed range which are why I bought the car.
Cannot completely fill the fuel tank without manually forcing the fuel after the pump shuts off. It stops filling at about 3/4 full or about 9 gallons. The fuel tank holds 14. 5 gallons. It is risky and not safe to manually force fuel into the tank to get it full. You have no idea when it is full until the fuel overflows. Fuel overflow risks fire and is just one of the safety issues. I began noticing this issue after a couple fill ups this past July. It happens with each attempt to refuel.
My 2019 Toyota Rav4 hybrid limited built in japan has a fuel fill up issue that pevents the car from being fully fueled under normal circumstances. The gas pump will shut off 1-2 gallons before the tank is actually full, meaning that in order to get a full tank, the user has to force fuel into the tank. This presents two problems: 1) this is a concern because there is some sort of pressure issue inside the gas tank that's prevening proper filling which could result in gas spewing out of the filler hole and presenting an environmental/safety/fire hazzard. 2) with a gas tank that's listed at 14. 5 gallons that advertises a range of 600+ miles on a tank of gas, you effectively have a useable fuel quantity and range well below what Toyota advertises meaning they are engaging in false advertising. My dealer is aware of this issue since other owners are experiencing the same or similar issues, but so far, Toyota is unable to address this fuel filling issue.
The gas tank is advertised to hold 14. 5 gallons. When I fill up, the pump stops after adding only about 8 gallons. I can very slowly add more, but I don't know if that is dangerous. I have had it overflow and spill when I've tried that. The smaller capacity severely reduces the number of miles between filling. I also have an issue with mpg. A main reason I bought the car was for the 40mpg. But I've never gotten that. I average around 28.
There is no indicator or low fuel warning when the fuel tank is empty. Plus when filling from empty to full and the gasoline station fuel pump kicks off, only 8 to 9 gallons of gasoline (the tank capacity is 14. 5 gallons) is put into the vehicle's fuel tank and the fuel tank indicator only reads 7/8 of a tank.
When filling my tank, auto-shutoff happens when the tank is at least 2 gallons shy of being full. I know this because my gas gauge does not indicate full and I am able to add an additional 2-2. 5 gallons to my tank, though it takes a while because I have to push through all the auto shutoffs. It happens every time I fill up regardless os the station I'm fueling at.
Ever since I first drove my Rav4 off the lot, I noticed it had a range of 580 miles to empty. I've never seen that ever since the first time I sat in the car. When I went to the fuel pump, I was only able to get in no more than 10 gallons and my meter would always show 2 ticks below full, which is about 3/4 of the meter gauge. This happened multiple times, so I tried pumping in more gas after it auto shutoff and each time it would pump a bit and then stop. If I trickled gas into the car, it would fill up eventually and the needle would finally show the needle past full and dte of 530 miles to empty. Eventually I kept having the same problem so I brought it to the dealer to get it serviced. Fuel even spilled out of my tank once and got onto my clothes when filling up my tank. They couldn't fix it so they had me come back later and replaced my entire fuel tank at my 5k mile service. Afterwards, my tank seemed to fill closer to full, but I noticed it's actually still a bit below full. Also even when driven to 0 miles left and the light being on, I couldn't get more than 10. 5 gallons into the tank, and it would also show the needle a bit below full. This led me to try and drive my car and force it to empty even though it's not recommended. I put a 2. 5 gallon spare fuel container in my backseat and drove it until I reached 120 miles past the empty mark, and my car told me to pull over when it's safe and to get fuel. I put in 0. 2 gallons and was then able to drive to the chevron nearby and pump in about 14. 055 gallons into the car. Even then, my needle was just at the full mark and not past it. I noticed that in usually able to put in another 1. 5-2 gallons into the car after it auto shuts off at the pump. I don't know what else to do since they already replaced my fuel tank already and I had to drive a Toyota sienna around for a few days.
I purchased a 2019 Rav4 hybrid in April of 2019. One issue with the car that I have not gotten a resolution for is that the fuel gauge is inaccurate. On filling the tank, it only shows about 7/8 full. The only way to get it totally full is to 'top it off' which is illegal in oregon where I live. The fuel tank holds 14. 5 gallons. On the way back from a recent trip, I let the fuel gauge go down until the dash board screen said I had 13 miles left until I was going to be out of fuel. I told the gas station attendant help me this one time by 'topping off' the tank to check the gallons needed. The tank was full after adding just 12 gallons. That means I had 2. 5 gallons left in the tank when the dash board fuel warning said I had 13 miles to go before I was out of gas. This vehicle consistently gets 40-45 mpg. I feel it is dangerous not to have the correct fuel total available. I took the vehicle into my Toyota dealer (lithia Toyota of springfield, oregon) in may of 2019 to have this issue checked out. The dealer said the did a thorough check of the systems that may be involved, but could find no problem. I am not aware of any recalls by Toyota concerning this matter.
When filling the gas tank, the pump will stop before the gas tank is full, usually 2-3 gallons short of being full. This happens every time I try to fill the tank since I bought the car in may, 2019. This results in more frequent stops at the gas station or making efforts to try to top off the gas tank by trying to slow down the gas being pumped in. With a very slow rate, the gas pump may not shut off then leading to fuel spillage.
Fuel spills when filling gas. Fuel tank does not fill to capacity at first click so when I add additional fuel in an attempt to completely fill tank, fuel sometimes spills out.
The 2019 Rav4 hv gas tank dry fill capacity is 14. 5 gal us. Refueling always automatically stops prematurely at fuel gauge 3/4 full, which corresponds to several gallons dispensed less than a properly full tank. The gas gauge is accurate. This has occurred with every refueling since the first fueling when the car was new. The problem reduces the effective range on one tank of normally dispensed gas by around 100 miles or more. Range is a big selling point of the hybrid model! furthermore, filling very very slowly to coax the tank to accept a properly full fill can cause no automatic shutoff of the gas pump to occur, which can result in excessive fumes or overfilling. This is unsafe. The problem has been reported to Toyota USA by me and by the dealer. The dealer has a technical case number and I have a technical assistance case number. Toyota's response for the last 5 months has been that there is no fix available. The car is still eligible for refund or replacement under the lemon law provisions (<15k driven or 1 year). . My 2019 Rav4 xse, purchased in may 2019, gas tank refueling always automatically stops prematurely at fuel gauge 1/3 to 3/4 full. This has occurred with every refueling since the first fueling when the car was new. The problem reduces the effective range on one tank of normally dispensed gas by 100 - 200 miles. Filling very very slowly to coax the tank to accept a properly full fill can cause no automatic shutoff of the gas pump to occur, which can result in excessive fumes or overfilling.
Since purchasing 2019 Rav4 hybrid xle in April 2019, fuel tank does not fill to capacity. Fuel pump (regardless of which gas station I am at) shuts off several gallons short of filling the gas tank and the fuel indicator on the dashboard indicates approximately 3/4 full. This occurs every time the vehicle is fueled. Unable to attain fuel range for the vehicle due to fuel tank unable to be filled to capacity unless I force extra gas in the car by consistently trying to "top off" to fill with more gas (as there is still extra capacity upon the pump clicking off at first). Contacted Toyota about the issue in July 2019 and December 2019 but no resolution or explanation was provided on why this issue is occurring.
When we first purchased the vehicle, we used to be able to fill it up all the way and completely now you can't fill it up all the way. When we first bought the car, we were able to get about 450 miles with a full tank of fuel. Now, when we go to fill up, we only get about 350 miles for a full tank when filling up the tank doesn't allow us to fill the tank up completely this is very unusual!.
