I own a 2007 rav 4, 110,000 miles and I backed out of my drive way began to drive and the transmission failed. I want to know if I can file a class action lawsuit against Toyota. . I just read in the past Toyota knew about earlier models that the ecm ruined the tran mission in rav 4s. .
My Toyota Rav4 (2007) started showing signs of excessive oil combustion. I started having oil changes every 2-3k miles. 1200 miles after my last oil change the engine seized due to a lack of oil. The vehicle was stationary at a convenience store when it died. I've since learned that the issue is known and their is a TSB that was issued to dealerships.
On July 24, 2018; I contacted temecula valley Toyota regarding my 2007 Toyota rav 4 with 122,00 miles on it. I contacted them to speak regarding the excessive use of oil that my vehicle was recently using. I have been diligent about bringing my car in for all recalls and have inquired each time if there was anything that should be fixed under warranty or recall that needed to be addressed on my vehicle. Before contacting Toyota, I looked online to see if any other vehicles were having this same problem. I found out that there was a lawsuit for this exact issue. It was titled the economic loss class action settlement. It reads that Toyota rav 4 with the years 2006-2008 rav 4 should be entitled to be repaired if they are brought in for repair within 10 years or 150,000 miles. It does not state whichever is less. However Toyota is implying because my car is over 10 years old that this is not their responsibility. As states previously, my vehicle has 122,000 miles on it. It is under the amount required for the lawsuit. In addition I have brought the vehicle in before the 10 year warranty expired and it was never mentioned to me that this could be covered at the time of repair for other recalls. I was bringing this vehicle in to be repaired prior to a family emergency that I would have to use my vehicle to drive through several states. The vehicle had an oil change before I left. My vehicle used up all of the oil before I made it half way. The pressure in the engine was so hot that it blew the oil cap off and nearly blew up my engine and the oil light never came on. This occurred within approximately 1,000 miles being driven. I was traveling on the i70 west towards kansas. There are few places to turn off, near vail, colorado. It endangered my life and the life of others during the time that I was stopped on a freeway on a mountain.

Takata recall-I just purchased this used vehicle a couple of months ago. It started using oil right away. The Toyota dealership says it's a problem they're well aware of, and, if I had brought it in before August, before I had purchased it or ever even seen it, it would have been covered, but now they want $5000. 00 to rebuild the engine!.
I receive letter by mail, about takada air bags, and thanks because dealers, never mention that part, and is unfair, special went buy a used car,and pay more money,,well receive a few months later a recall for compsuption motor oil, need to be done, and tried 2 or 3 times, but the advisor and tech, are mero worry about fixed uncover warranty repairs, because transmission goes bad,tow 140 to dealer, and make all kind ot tricks to make me paid, finally they admit to fixed but charge me $618. 00 for alignment the 4 tires, replace rear seal, the intake fuel sys and use the word, per customer request, customer authorized, but never comment OH if you don't follow the tech recommends, warranty is going to avoid, decline the repair, and get service history and found they did all the work for the car recalls to,and I'm the only owner, but buy the car in 2015 with 80,000 miles and a lot of false, irregularities, so want to know if this car is for the lemon law case my safety and my family travel to mexico, ensenada, and I'm worry, car is unsafe to drive,my car don't want travel in the car,and is correct, but I'm scare to be involve in accident, car need to be check but by a dealer,a gov tech,oe a serious org. Ok tm.
During cold start and sometimes warm start, the engine makes a 2-3 second rattles coming from the cam gears due to lack of oil lubrication.
Since I purchased this vehicle in sept. 2006 I have had to replace 6 ignition coils. #4 has been replaced twice as of yesterday March 28,2017. The problem first began in 2010. I believe this is a safety concern due to the fact that when this issue arises my cruise control disengages and any vehicle following behind will see no brake lights and may rear end the vehicle. The vehicle also becomes sluggish and will not respond like it should.
Car had been using excessive oil. While I was driving on interstate, cruise control failed ,warning lights came on , started flashing and then car quickly lost all power. Barely got off the highway onto the right side of interstate. Very dangerous condition exists with these vehicles. I consider myself lucky.
Takata recall the engine consumes large amounts of oil in short amounts of time . Making it dangerous to drive.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Rav4. The contact's vehicle received a recall repair that involved rebuilding the engine. A month after receiving the repair, smoke appeared under the hood when accelerating. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine blew out because fuel from the fuel injector leaked onto the engine. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The NHTSA campaign number and failure mileage were unknown.
Car completely shuts down during driving. Just bought this 2 days ago and it's happened twice already, once on city roads and once on hwy. Everything shuts off, lights/engine/everything.
On March 29, 2016, I was driving to work in the far left lane when a gentleman driving a green pickup truck come rushing up beside me. He was waving at me pointing down at the right front side of my Toyota. I thought that maybe I was driving on a flat tire and didn't realize it so I rolled down the window. He yelled as he was still pointing down at the front of my Toyota "your car is on fire". He got ahead of me and I pulled over to the right shoulder of the freeway. He got out of his truck and ran back to my 2007 Toyota Rav4 and said "MA'am, you better get your purse and things and get out, your car is on fire". At that time, smoke was pouring out somewhere up front on the passenger side by the tire. I got my things and we moved to the back of my Toyota when at that time, it went up in flames. I took care of that vehicle because I can not afford another. My last oil change was in November 2015 with only 50035 miles on the vehicle. When it was last inspected, everything was fine. So I am not understanding how this happened. Tires were about a year old as well. Car just don't catch on fire driving down the freeway. On April 4, 2016 a friend and I took a drive to my burnt vehicle and she could not believe that was my Toyota. And I could not believe I had walked away without any injuries. There is no engine, no dashboard, no steering wheel, no front seats, and no back seats. All burned! how could this happen?.
Starting in March 2016 it became evident the vehicle is consuming a lot of oil, it is not making it between oil changes. Now between oil changes at least 2 qts of oil has to be added.
The car is consuming an excessive amount of oil at all times. It has inhibited trips and added unforeseen cost to the car between oil changes.
2007 Rav4 uses an excessive amount of oil. I recently purchased this vehicle used with approximately 146,000 miles. The vehicle has been driven approximately 4,000 and I have had to add 2 quarts of oil to the engine. I have read numerous complaints online about the same situation and Toyota is doing nothing to fix the problem.
Took a trip from wa. State to utah. Had oil changed and checked before departing. Checked oil in utah and saw that oil was way down. Bought more oil for trip home. We used about 4-5 qrts for entire trip. Took car to Toyota dealer to do oil usage test. After test dealer said it did not use enough oil to fix the problem. We are very unsatisfied with this result and are wondering what to do now. After reading many blogs we see that this is a big problem that Toyota is not very eager to fix. Should we take legal action?.
I purchased a used 2007 Toyota Rav4 in late February 2015. According to my trusted and loyal car repairman, the car is a lemon. In the short time I have owned it, I have accrued well over $6000. 00 in repairs which did not refurbish the vehicle and now the vehicle is not driveable as the engine malfunctioned. The dealership where I purchased it is refusing to help me since I purchased the vehicle without a warranty. It is my understanding that illinois does not have lemon laws for consumers of used vehicles, however, the federal government may have lemon law protection for me. I am now seeking free legal consultation to successfully resolve this matter to recoup the purchase price, all subsequent repairs, legal fees, and damages for being stranded on the highway during a long distance vacation miles from home. The car had no warning lights come on whatsoever. Had the car died any sooner, we would not have made it to the shoulder risking a high-speed multiple car accident pileup on the highway.
The car failed to start, the battery was extremely hot and had not water in it. Changed the battery, the car started properly; however, once set to drive it hesitated a bit, as if it were chocking for lack of gas but it had gas. Drove on and at about speed of 40 mph steering became hard to handle, ac and engine cut off. Restarted it drove back home. . . Just made the last payment on the car, car was regularly serviced at the dealer.
Engine hesitates/stumbles and rpm needle fluctuates at speeds under 60mph.
2007 Toyota rav 4. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle has a defective engine. The consumer stated he has been waiting since April for parts. The consumer was informed by Toyota, the parts were unavailable nationwide.
Transmission started to whine,. Bearings.
While driving the car suddenly loses all electricity, all the lights, every light indicator, the radio are off. The engine stops running and the car stops immediately. This normally happens while driving on city streets but also happened once when the car was parked and the key was out. After I entered and turned the key the car wouldn't start and there was no electricity in the car. No lights, no indicators, etc were on. Took it to the mechanic to take a look but he couldn't find anything. Also took it to Toyota dealership and the technician inspected it and ran a diagnostics test but couldn't find the problem either.
My 07 rav 4 has hard/ rough idling issue. The car will (at times) has rough idiling issue right at coming to a complete stop. This issue does not occur when ac/heat fan is on. But beside that at times engines feels like it is about to stop and idle falls below 400 rpm shaking or vibrating the whole car for good 3-5 second and then spikes back up just enough to slow down that vibration a bit. At this point my foot is still on brake. No check engine or any other lights on.
My 2007 Toyota rav 4 is experiencing excessive oil usage which Toyota knows is a problem with vehicles that has a 2az engine. It is believed that if the engine siezes due to this excessive oil usage for a vehicle that is in motion, the brakes and steering failure could cause loss of control and result in a crash. As such, I believe Toyota should be forced to issue a safety recall to correct this issue immediately.
