1 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2016

When I back up on any kind of an incline, the car jerks and the steering wheel shakes. It feels like I have "hit" something it jerks so badly. If I let off the gas pedal, it stops the jerking but the minute I press the gas pedal again, it jerks again and makes a terrible noise. I can still back up but it feels like the underside of my car is falling out. It's been going on since I purchased it used 2 years ago. I kept thinking it was me until I googled it today and saw several other people have the same issue. I feel it's unsafe and Toyota needs to take care of it. My vehicle already qualified for the oil consumption issue and was repaired earlier this year. Needs to be a national recall and fixed properly.

2 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle and steering wheel would shake violently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the intermediate shaft was defective and had to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.

3 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

While backing up out of a driveway there is a loud clunk and the steer wheel shakes. While making turns at low speed and driving over pot holes the same loud clunk. The dealer said its a problem in the steering shaft that has 2 different parts. I asked the dealer about it being covered under warranty and they said no. I have read several other complaints on this same issue and a couple have been covered under warranty even thou the vehicle had over 100000 miles on it. I understand Toyota has made 2 replacement parts regarding this issue so they know there is a problem. I would like to see a national recall on this part and have Toyota cover the repairs before someone is injured or killed.

4 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2009

Intermittent failure of steering at vehicle startup. Steering wheel will not move in either direction and p/s indicator light comes on. Car must be turned off then restarted for steering to function. More frequently - steering wheel will shake slightly at startup as if it is about to lock, but continues to function normally. Toyota dealer said cause was low battery voltage and replaced battery. Problem occurred again less than 2 months later. Will return vehicle - still under warranty - for another repair of the same problem.
