Failure Date: 12/24/2006

Automatic transmission shift cable broken while selecting to park, this vehicle could roll forward or backward upon releasing the brake. If in case the cable broken without knowing while cruising I have no option to downshift in case of emergency on a downhill road or brake system failure. I've replaced the part at a cost of $196. 00 + labor.

2 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 2003 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 09/18/2003

I had my hand resting on the gear shift (automatic on the floor) and bumped it from drive into neutral. I did not push the button designed for shifting. I was stopped on a hill; when I took my foot off the brake to start, I drifted backward toward another car.
