I was on the freeway driving home and a vehicle cut me on the freeway which resulted in me breaking a little heavier than usual but wasn't abnormal and resulted in the vehicle shutting down due to the battery jumping around in the engine compartment and then instantaneously catching on fire with no way of steering or guiding myself to safety the highway did arrive on scene as well as ambulance and they only asked for registration and vehicle ownership which I hadn't presented but since a tow truck was on its way already they really had no reason to be there other than to make sure I was okay I do have case number and any other information needed for my vehicles abrupt explosion. This incident has been reported to Toyota of anaheim as well as brand engagement been calling but haven't received helpful information on my loss.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that while releasing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle quickly surged or jerked forward, like the vehicle would unintendedly accelerating. The contact became aware of a delay in the light on the side view mirror being illuminated whenever there was a vehicle approaching in the blind spot. The contact was unable to recall if a dealer or an independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The blind spot warning system fails to alert the driver when a vehicle in the adjacent lane is partially behind the current vehicle. It only activates when the nearby vehicle is completely behind the current vehicle. Due to this limitation, the system does not provide adequate warnings for nearby vehicles, which has nearly caused several accidents when the driver attempted to change lanes.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? when driving the Rav4 the dashboard started to alert that different systems where failing. For example, it was flashing blind spot failure, land departure failure, front collision failure. It the warnings where non-stop while driving the car flashing through the different messages. Yes the car is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? with all the systems altering failure the car no longer became safe to drive and had the potential to stall while driving. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes, the Toyota service center determined that the car was unsafe to drive due to the failure of the internal wire harness shorting out. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? yes, but a Toyota service center. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no symptoms, the dashboard just started lighting up like a christmas tree on 7/15.
Received multiple malfunction alerts. Bsm & rctw. Other safety features also inop. Dealership told me it was due to non-factory installed cross bars, faulty gasket allowed water into vehicle and flowed down onto the engine control module. There was no way the amount of water said to have been in vehicle could have come from that 1 gasket, over 1" above roof. After $825+ and removal of cross bars water still leaking into car. Concerned issue will re-occur making safety features worthless, as well as damage side air-bags. These issues would all need to be corrected via out-of-pocket expense. Believe the issue is design flaw from Toyota.

I have a 2021 Toyota Rav4. There is a noise in the b pillar. The sound is faint, dealership has replaced the entire seatbelt. The noise is still there. Today was the 4th time to the dealership, the technician drove and service advisor both was in the vehicle today and all of a sudden they can't hear anything. The driver side mirror also shakes when driving and by just shutting the door. My safety concerns are both the b pillar and mirror shaking. I'm concerned the b pillar may not have been properly welded and may fail in a collision the rattle started at 22 miles and now has approximately 1800 miles.
No audio warning. Blind spot monitoring (bsm) flashing is not visible when sunlight directly reflects into mirror. Audio alert is available, but limited to cross traffic alert which uses same sensors.
Camera not working properly.

A few months after I purchased my 2020 Rav4 xle hybrid, I noticed that my brakes squeaks whenever I make a quick stop, or after I release the brakes after stopping or when I am backing up. It doesn't matter on the kind of road that I am on. I brought my car to the dealership and they said that it is normal for a hybrid to squeaks due to the break actuator. I know people with Toyota hybrids and they do not have this problem. I am concerned because this could be a dangerous issue. Please advise. Thank you.
