Warning Problems of Toyota RAV4

My 2024 Toyota Rav4 hybrid has intermittently displayed multiple safety-system malfunction warnings at the same time. The messages include “lta malfunction – visit your dealer,” “pre-collision system malfunction – visit your dealer,” “rsa malfunction – visit your dealer,” and “headlight system malfunction – visit your dealer. ” this has occurred on two separate occasions. The warnings appear together and then later clear, making the problem intermittent. When the warnings are present, multiple advanced driver-assistance/safety features, including lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and the pre-collision system, are indicated as malfunctioning or unavailable. The vehicle has approximately 43,000 miles. There has been no known collision or damage that would explain the simultaneous warnings. I am concerned that a single intermittent fault involving the forward camera, associated wiring/electronics, or another shared component may be disabling multiple safety systems at once. Because the problem is intermittent, the warnings may disappear before the vehicle can be inspected, but they have now occurred twice. I am reporting the issue because the simultaneous loss of several collision-avoidance and driver-assistance systems on a relatively new vehicle could present a safety concern if the malfunction continues or becomes permanent.

While changing lanes in my 2021 Toyota Rav4 with my turn signal activated, the lane departure alert / lane tracing assist system applied an unexpected steering input that pulled my vehicle directly into a jersey barrier, resulting in physical contact with the barrier. I was intentionally and safely moving into the adjacent lane when the system intervened abruptly and steered my vehicle toward the barrier. My speed was approximately 55 - 60 mph. The weather was rainy off and on but not raining at the time. The road surface was damp. The lane markings were clear and no dashboard warnings appeared prior to the steering event. I had my blinker on and was actively changing lanes. The lane?assist system should not have intervened during a deliberate lane change, yet it applied a strong steering correction that overpowered my input. I attempted to counter?steer, but the system’s force caused my vehicle to strike the barrier. My vehicle made contact with the jersey barrier, causing damage to the driver’s side of my vehicle. The unexpected steering input created a sudden loss of control and a dangerous situation that could have resulted in a more severe crash. I am aware of other 2021 Rav4 owners reporting similar unintended steering behavior with lane?assist systems, including steering toward barriers or roadside objects. This appears to be a recurring safety defect involving the vehicle’s lane?keeping functionality. A lane?assist system overriding a driver?initiated lane change, especially with the turn signal activated, and steering the vehicle into a fixed object presents a serious risk of injury or death.

I was driving 9/3 and my left blinker light came on solid. I was not using my blinker. Within a few seconds my check engine light came on and another light. Then within 2 minutes the front left engine/tire caught fire.

Our 3 yrs old + Toyota Rav4 hybrid SUV with barely over 30,000 miles on it had 2 safety issues within 2 months of each other! first was the driver's side mirror- it was rattling, feeling like it might fall off! seems common issue, perhaps due to cheap plastic parts inside. We had it fixed- Toyota brand engagement center gave a 'goodwill' gesture to cover us replacing it at dealership, though it should never have happened on such a newer vehicle in the first place! then not even 2 months later, a warning flashed- "pre collision system malfunction!" also "headlights" with same warning- "see dealer now!" Toyota dealer. They said forward recognition camera had 'internal malfunction' and needed to be replaced. It was going to be quite expensive, but the camera part is not even available in foreseeable future as there's back order for hundreds and they're still in production! it seems this too is a common safety problem~ we can't understand why there's not a recall on this. Toyota took no responsibility for this issue, which is appalling as, like the first 'side driver's side mirror failure' was also a safety issue! the whole reason we bought this vehicle was for its safety features! without the front facing camera that comes with the car in same compartment as rear view mirror resides, we now have no pre-collision warnings, no headlight safety feature, no rsa (road sign assist system). It's infuriating that Toyota, who obviously is making inferior safety products, does not offer to help out in any way. We're both [xxx] and entitled to these safety features as we bought the car both new and paid top dollar! our service advisor at the Toyota dealership agrees this is 'not normal', the car is too young to have this happen! he will attest to this & we have paperwork. It stated 'no immediate remedy'. (replacement camera not available) I believe this is happening to hundreds of other Rav4 owners. Back up camera stopped working screen is black when put into reverse. Approximately 2 weeks after camera stopped working warnings appeared on dash headlight system malfunction pre collision system malfunction rear cross traffic alert malfunction blind spot monitor malfunction lta malfunction. There is no current recalls on this particular car but others of same make and model have recalls with same issues.

Few days back got a message "voltage abnormality steering power low" a few times. Today, got a message saying the sensors indicated on the form are malfunctioning. Car is 2. 5 yrs old with 23. 5k miles on it.

Vehicle shows multiple safety systems malfunction and display warning messages. The vehicle displays repeated alerts including lta (lane tracing assist) malfunction, pre-collision system malfunction, rsa (road sign assist) malfunction, and headlight system malfunction. These warnings occur while the vehicle is in motion or parking and cause the safety features to shut off unexpectedly.

Engine maintnance light came on dashboard. Was not aware of this issue until doing research. Parts that needs replace - cooling bypass valve.

When I do these checks I have my hands lightly on the wheel ready to correct the car when needed. The lane control assist tends to stay to the left of the lane, crossing over the left side lane markers, it also tends to head towards the right side of the lane, crossing over the right side lane markers without compensating. At times it does compensate but it causes the car to go back and forth in the lane without settling out. There have been times when the car is steered to the right with no compensation and without my correction would have gone off the road. The lane warning system doesn't always work. If I did not have diligence when using the system I would no doubt have gone off the road and crashed. The dealer has not checked the car, they say this is how it works even on their personal Toyotas. These problems have been prominent and have existed since the purchase of the car in 2023.

Vehicle battery completely dead after only 3 days of not being driven. Vehicle would not start and could not be jump started. Vehicle is only 2 months old. Wireless charging does not charge consistently. Intermittent connection only and gets very hot. Usb phone connection randomly disconnects and reconnects. Occasionally the voice command prompt on center control is activated and stays connected when connecting a phone through usb and cannot exit to see information display. Remote start from fob will not work. Lane departure system too sensitive and takes over steering of car causing countersteering from driver control.

The lane departure warning buzzer's warning cannot be heard on the road with the radio on low volume or with a radio off but driving above 75mph due to the road noise. Multiple complaints to different dealers resulted in comments that the buzzer works as designed. Calls to Toyota's "brand engagement advocate" resulted in advice to go to a dealer. They have no authority to instruct the dealer to replace the buzzer. I understand that ldw is mandatory for 5 stars safety rating, but I cannot find the specification for this safety feature.
