While backing into a parking spot after applying the brake the vehicle jerked back several times no mater how hard I applied the brake I could not stop it. I was going about 5 miles or less per hr. The same thing happened later the same day in my driveway. Twice in one day also on another day my wife was heading down the driveway and applied the brakes and the vehicle would not stop no matter how hard she applied the brakes it finally stopped about 40 feet later in the middle of the road. She was very scared, thankfully no car was coming when this happened. We took it to Toyota and of course they found nothing they told us we hit the wrong peddle (three different times) which we did not. And so did the thousands of other people that have complained and then hurried us on our way. How many times does this have to happen to people before Toyota is forced to do something? from what I have read it seems to have started when car company's went from accelerator cables to computer sensors and electric motors. So all I can do is file a complaint and hope the everybody else that has encounters this problem will do the same so maybe if enough people do something will be done. We were going to trade it in but doing research we can't seem to find a newer vehicle that hasn't had this complaint. So I guess we are stuck with it and all my wife and I can do is say a little prayer each time I get behind the wheel.

I leased 2013 Toyota Rav4, around 2900 miles the warning and indicating lights on the instrument panel lit up while I was driving. Took the car to the dealer who determined the cause was "some one hit abs sensor and cut harness . . . " since the sensors were not under warranty, it will cost me $600 in repairs. The failed sensors are used for vehicle safety and traction control . I think that the cable harness should be designed to be better protected from road hazards and the customer should not be liable for Toyota design flaws. Plead find attached some supporting documents. Thank you,.

- the contact stated that when the 2007 Toyota rav 4 was test driven on January 3, 2007 the acceleration and control on the vehicle was not stable. At times the vehicle accelerated abruptly even if the accelerator was slightly depressed. Three weeks after the vehicle was purchased he noticed that when depressing the accelerator pedal the vehicle would accelerate, but it would not reach the desired speed. Then after a few seconds the vehicle would accelerate again. The contact stated that when turning corners with the accelerator was depressed the vehicle would speed up. It remained steady for a few seconds at a constant speed then it proceeded to accelerate abruptly. The contact stated that when driving on the highway if another vehicle slowed down in front of the contacts vehicle, trying to speed up again was also a problem. The vehicle accelerated and stayed steady at any given speed, but then after a few seconds it would accelerate to a higher speed without warning. The contact took the vehicle to the dealership, and was told these vehicles did not have a cable going from the gas pedal to the mechanism that give gas to the vehicle. This system was electric in the 2007 models. The failure mileage was 1,500, and the current mileage was 3,500. Update 5/3/tr.

Your form is not applicable to my problem. I had a problem with engine surge or stuck accelerator. This happned twice during ownership. Once while parking and I was able to stop vehicle. Second time I was not able to bring vehicle under control, and had to crash into a parked vehicle to avoid hitting pedestrians. The accelerator either stuck at full throttle or something caused the throttle to open to full, making the vehicle impossible to contol or stop.
