I bought a 2004 Toyota Scion Xb used from local Toyota dealer in massachusetts the sales men talk me into getting the extended bumper to bumper warranty for $1400. 00 so I did. A year later I go to get my annual inspection sticker the car wouldn't pass I brought it back to dealer they diagnose the problem and told me that it needed a junction block, instrument panel part # 82732-52040, but it is not covered under warranty so much for bumper to bumper,$92. 00 to diagnose and $566. 00 to repair ,ok repairs get done now is time to get my inspection sticker again and guess what same problem call the dealer they want another $92. 00 to diagnose and if its the same part again they want another $566. 00 to repair I feel this is unjustified. The registry of motor vehicles in my state deem this vehicle unsafe and will not issue a sticker because their computer can not comunicate or read the information from my vehicles ecm. I personaly don't feel safe driving this car. Mean while I'm making payments on a car I can't drive ! p. S I do have the old part. Thanks.

The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Scion Xb. The contact stated the instrument panel would not illuminate. The dealer advised he was unfamiliar with the failure and was unable to offer a remedy. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were 1,100. Updated 06/21/10
the consumer stated the back ground of the gauges on the instrument panel were black and the pointers and numbers were red. In dull light and at night, with the panel lights on, everything was visible. However, as day light became brighter, the ability to read the instrument panel became difficult. The consumer stated the problem is not electrical, however this is the closest component we have to describe the instrument panel. I also chose structure as a component as well, as it may just be a design issue. Updated 06/24/10.

2005 Scion Xb we have had to put three windshields in, four sets of tires and now the speedometer went out. We just spent two thousand dollars at the dealership, it had to have the seat belts done, the cruise control stuck all the time and we never got recall letters, I went on line. I am so concerned about the safety of my son. There should never be three windshield replacements, we don't know what the deal on this is and we have checked the tires daily. I appreciate the information here.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Scion Xb. On two different occasions, while driving 60 mph, all of the instrument panel indicators (abs light, brake light, air bag light, traction control light) illuminated for approximately ten minutes. Afterwards, the vehicle restarted. On four occasions, the vehicle stalled. While idling at a traffic light or stop sign, the vehicle would sometimes vibrate and shake. The contact also stated that the vehicle burns a lot of fuel. The window sticker claimed that the vehicle would get 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The vehicle actually gets 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. On the fourth visit to the dealer, the contact was informed that the vehicle misfired on the second cylinder. When he researched the lemon law and went to arbitration, he was informed that, by law, gas is not a warranty factor due to changes in weather. The current mileage was 23,400 and failure mileage was 16,000. Updated 03/26/08.
The vehicle stability control; traction control; check engine light have come on and remained on. The light was temporarily deactivated when a cam gear was replaced at wagner Toyota in lancaster MA. The error code returned and has remained on despite leaving the car at gatorland Toyota in gainesville FL on three separate occasions. The dealership service manager after first replacing the computer advised me that they do not know how to repair my car. I am uncertain whether the vsc or the traction control is operational at this time (safety concern).
The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Scion Xb. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph on normal road conditions. The vehicle stability control, trac off and the check engine warning light indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. There was a strong odor of fuel outside of the vehicle. The warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on four to five separate occasions for the identical failures. There was a recommendation to replace the fuel cap which was replaced six times. The malfunction continued which there were no resolutions. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 15,000. Updated 3/16/10
the consumer was then told the problem was with the charcoal canister. Updated 06/11/10.
