Goes into a skid due to the brakes being suddenly engaged. The veh. Also decelerates suddenly as if it has lost power. This is dangerous for other drivers who can't tell if you are braking because there are no brake lights to be seen to prevent a collision. Thankfully we have been able to react defensively and avoid collisions with other veh. 's. And roadside objects. We have seen several suggestions as to the fix for this problem like the yaw rate sensor being replaced. The cost of the part is $568. 00 without the install cost. This problem is a safety issue and if it occurs at the wrong time, a preventable tragedy is going to occur. I have seen well over 50 complaints on this from other owners and a closed NHTSA investigation on this exact issue. They recalled the 2003 Sequoia for the same issue. My 2001 sequioa, suddenly showing the vsc lights and brake lights at the same time! there is a very rough feeling when I'm driving the car like something in the undercarriage is very wrong. There is a twice beep and the car, will suddenly pull to the left momentarily and then release itself but the lights never go out unless car is off. I,I can feel the brakes like shaking. I s scary and this happen like 4 times. The last is in the highway. Is make a noise like a scratch metal. I know I'm not the first one . Please Toyota fix the problem.

For unknown reasons, my 2001 Toyota sequioa's vsc, brake, and abs lights are "on" and the abs and vsc system no longer works. A certified dealer (fiore Toyota; 1480 south main st; fall river, MA, 02724) attempted to diagnose the problem. They replaced the brakes (front/rear) and the brake fluid reservoir and a tune up for $1300, but the vsc, abs, and brake lights are still on. Firore has no idea what to do and can no longer help me fix the problem. I now do not have abs and stability control in the snowy northeast!.
About 1yr ago vsc trac, trac off, abs, & brake lights all come on and stay on. My system for these braking features no longer work. I found out from research this is very common on the 2001 Toyota Sequoia that I own and was told to file a complaint to help get it recalled by Toyota. The repair is 2 separate computers that can be as much as 2200 dollars to replace.
The contact owns a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. The brake light illuminated on the instrument panel, which indicated that the abs and anti-skid system failed. The mechanic stated that nothing was wrong with the abs; however, there was failure with the anti-skid system. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the abs computer failed. The dealer made the repair and paid for 30% of the parts. There had been no other failures since the repair, but the contact felt that it should be recalled. The failure mileage was 67,000 and current mileage was 67,800.
I have a 2001 Toyota Sequoia, purchased used in 2004. In 2006, the abs,vsc,brake lights began to light up intermittently. After a few months, they came on & stayed on. The dealer did a diagnostic test and said it was a computer problem and would cost $2500+ to fix. This seems like a major design flaw by Toyota, and causes an extremely unsafe condition. I would expect a recall due to the number of similar complaints.

Brake pedal goes all the way down to the floor and vibration is present while driving on an incline. The driver is concerned that the brake light will stay on until the vehicle shuts off.
