The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Sequoia. Whenever the contact attempted to change the volume on the radio he had to reach over the center console to do so. The contact was concerned that the design of the vehicle was a safety risk. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The VIN was not available. The current and failure mileages were 9,700.
My Toyota Sequoia lift gate outside handle has sticky melted tar type material covering the switch. The rubber boot covers the electronic switch to release the lift gate is completely melted. It is very hard to open the rear lift gate by pushing the handle. The black tar like material sticks to the fingers and it is very hard to clean by just washing hands. The dealer wanted over $451 to replace the switch. I am sure I am not the only one with this issue. My car stays in the garage at home and at work. I purchased the original Toyota extended platinum warranty when I purchased this vehicle. I first noticed the issue in 2015 and took it to dealership but that part was not covered under either (standard or extended) warranty. I think the rubber material used in the switch is inferior quality causing this issue.
