My 2003 Toyota Sequoia limited has a driver's side exterior mirror with motors in it. The motor that retracts it to the body is stuck on and as a result, I had to disable all the electrical power that controls the adjustments to the mirrors including the mirror glass (both sides of vehicle). As a result the driver cannot adjust the mirrors as they are remote-controlled. My wife almost had an accident because she cannot adjust the mirrors any more. The mirrors cannot be hand adjusted from the driver's seat. The defective mirror assembly cannot be repaired, except for replacing the entire unit (Toyota says) and they do not "currently" have a recall, although I have seen numerous complaints about this defect (ie. Tundra/sequoia user's groups) I feel that this is a safety-related defect and Toyota should recall these vehicles. I cannot afford to repair this as the part alone retails for 400-600 dollars.

When driving on the freeway, the left rear "vent" window had its glass come completely out of the channel which holds it, and was dangling by just a bolt. Upon inspecting the window, I found that the window's adhesive had completely failed. I reported the problem to the Toyota dealer, and even though the vehicle was still in warranty, they refused to repair it without charging me the full repair price. The risk of a glass window falling off of a vehicle at high speed seemed very high to me, but the dealer said there were no recalls or safety problems.

03 Toyota Sequoia oil gauge failed to work and rear window will not roll down.
The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sequoia. While parked, the vehicle caught fire. A fire and police report were both filed. The manufacturer would only reimburse the contact for half the cost of the vehicle, stating that they could not determine the cause of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 20,000. According to the police report, the fire may have started in the engine compartment. Prior to the fire, the tires were wearing unevenly, the driver side mirror was loose and the rear glass did not open. Updated 04/23/08.
