I live in the high rockies and travel daily for work. I have left my studded tires on year-round for 10 years. This is my 3rd time using general grabber arctic studded tires. The side wall is damaged on 2, the studs are missing in sporadic spots. They have only been used approx 18k and are worn. The manufacture tread warranty is 75k. Tire rack wont honor the tread wear and also are requiring me to purchase new tires that have sidewall damage and they may reimburse me. I did purchase road hazard, although tire rack uses a 3rd party. The manufacturer told me that these tires are only to be used 43 degree or less temp, which on a summy winter day in the high country it can be 70- neg 20 degrees. The also said once I stud the tires it voids their warranty, as well as they offered to reimburse me to replace my tires, but only will give me 25%. Between tire rack and general, they are not providing a solution and now I will have to drive on worn tires this winter, as I can not afford to replace out of pocket. They are not allowing a solution, in which it jeopardizes the safety of my family. It's also against the law in colorado to drive on tires that the tread is worn. Point being these tires should not have worn this quickly and they just care about money and not the consumer's safety.

Today, while driving on the freeway, the rear driver side falken wild peak tire completely shredded nearly causing an accident (see attached photos). My husband-- was driving the vehicle and was able to pull to the side of the freeway and call for emergency services. The Sequoia did not hit any object while on the freeway. Also, the Toyota vehicle monitoring system (on both the vehicle and Toyota app) did not alert for any low tire issues. Our 2024 Toyota Sequoia limited 4w off road was purchased brand new from the --less than 2 months ago. At that time, the odometer was less than 10 miles. Not only did the complete blow out of this tire nearly cause an accident, but its incredible to believe that this could happen on a brand new tire with roughly 2700 miles. My husband was stranded in extreme heat at 110 degrees on an incredibly dangerous section of the freeway. We were forced to have the vehicle placed on a flat bed and taken to the nearest tire shop (see photo). The -- tire shop is quoting us $319. 00 to replace the tire and offering us a warranty policy on all 4 tires in case this happens again. This will cost $649. 80 in total (see photo). This does not include the price of the towing services. We are frustrated that we just purchased this vehicle 2 months ago, and are already having to pay $649. 80 on a brand new tire and additional warranty policies through another company. We have seen that there are 2 recalls on different sizes of the falken wildpeak a/t3w tire. I don’t see why this tire (falken wildpeak at3w size 265/60/r20) could not also have a defect. We are asking that someone contact us about this matter. We don’t believe that we should have to pay to replace this tire and pay for outside warranties on a brand new 2024 Toyota Sequoia. We also have the entire tire with the rim in our garage (see photo). Discount tires did not find any other puncture or damage to the outside of the tire. All of the damage is on the sidewall of the tire (see photo).
The tread came off on the freeway. The actual tire is still in tact. The tread flew off and ripped our bumper and quarter panel off. The back latch and window to open the vehicle to retrieve the spare no longer work. We are now concerned with the other tires quality and tread.

2014 Toyota Sequoia. Consumer writes in regards to ongoing steering wheel vibration issues. The consumer stated from the day of purchase, the vehicle exhibited a slight vibration. As the days went on, the vibration became more severe. The consumer returned to the dealer. However, they were unable to find a problem. The consumer went to another dealer and was informed, the vehicle had a history of having warped rotors, but they couldn't fix it, due to warranties from the purchasing dealer. The next day, the steering was vibrating even more, so the dealer replaced and balanced the tires. Three months later, the steering vibration had returned. The dealer rotated the tires. Seven months later, the vibration returned again. The dealer balanced the tires.
Three (3) cooper tire failures, discoverer h/t, 265/70r16, dot number utc2c5t2305. 9 oct 2013, took vehicle in for regular maintenance. Received courtesy inspection that included tire tread/condition check. Checks were good with outer/inner tread depth of 8/5, 7/5, 8/8, 8/8. Tires rotated and front end alignment accomplished due to uneven wear on front tires. On Nov 4, 2013, 400 miles of interstate driving after 9 oct 2013 tire rotation/front end alignment, 7/5 tire tread separated on interstate damaging left rear wheel well, left rear quarter panel and rear bumper ($2500 damage). 11 April 2014, approx 2500 miles after 9 oct 2013 tire rotation/front end alignment, 8/5 tire tread separated on interstate damaging right rear wheel well, right rear quarter panel, right rear door and rear bumper (approx $2000 damage). Purchase 2 new tires for front, rotated both 8/8 tires to rear and had them inspected at tire dealer who said that there was no need to replace and that there was several thousand miles left of use. 10 may 2014, approx 3500 miles after 9 oct 2013 tire rotation/front end alignment, left rear 8/8 tire tread separated on interstate damaging left rear wheel well, fuel line, left rear quarter panel, left rear door, left running board, and rear bumper.

I have a 2006 Toyota Sequoia with 86,000 miles on it and I am putting my third set of tires on it. I keep my car maintained in all aspects including tire rotation and balance and alignments. The wear on my tires is not from neglect. They are also high quality tires, not cheap. I have had everything checked out at the Toyota dealership and they say there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. Something is definitely wrong for the tires to wear out this quickly , all three sets!! Toyota needs to address this issue and fix it because I am not the only one having this problem according to forums and blogs I read online.

I have a 2005 Toyota Sequoia. I have had continued issues with outer wear on the front tires since I purchased the car, and yes I have had it aligned several times. The tires, regardless of quality, are lasting about 20,000 miles. Until this issue is addressed I would not recommend this car to anyone from a safety or expense perspective.

2008 Toyota Sequoia was purchased with tires installed with a different brand and size from the spare. Spare can only be used for short time emergency use under 50 miles an hour. If a tire fails on a trip on an interstate and spare is installed vehicle will not handle or perform 100%. This places driver and passengers at risk. Not all people understand this risk and the owners manual explains this poorly. Most people will change the tire and drive on the spare normally. All vehicles should be equipped with the same brand and size of tire. If the spare not having a tpms installed is the issue then should install a sensor in the spare of offer to install one for the owner. My Lexus had 5 tires all including the spare was the same brand, size and had tpms sensors installed in all tires. Some how Toyota is saving money installing two different brands and sizes of tires on their vehicles.
The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sequoia. The vehicle has dunlop grantrek tires, size p265/65r17. The tires had excessive wear inside and out. Toyota and dunlop do not want to replace or honor the warranty on the tires. The dealer informed the contact not to drive the vehicle while it is raining. The tires would not hold in the rain due to the slick road conditions. The dot number and VIN were unknown. The failure mileage was 42,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sequoia. While parked, the vehicle caught fire. A fire and police report were both filed. The manufacturer would only reimburse the contact for half the cost of the vehicle, stating that they could not determine the cause of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 20,000. According to the police report, the fire may have started in the engine compartment. Prior to the fire, the tires were wearing unevenly, the driver side mirror was loose and the rear glass did not open. Updated 04/23/08.
I am having unusual tire wear on the outside edge of all 4 tires on my vehicle (2006 Toyota Sequoia), to the point of becoming bald. I have been relaying my concern to the dealer for the past 11k miles. The vehicle currently has 21k miles on it. The vehicle has been aligned 3 times by manufacturer dealers, the front ball joints have been replaced and the vehicle has been thoroughly inspected by district level manufacturer's people. They are saying nothing is wrong with the vehicle, but I have been doing some research and am finding that this has been a complaint on the same model of vehicle since 2002. I feel that the suspension of this vehicle is not allowing it to ride properly on the tires, thus causing this premature wear. The problem seems to be on bf goodrich, bridgestone and in particular, dunlop tires.
2003 Toyota Sequoia (2wd) without warning the vsc/trac system engaged while turning on dry pavement causing a loss in acceleration. This was the initial incident which was followed by multiple other incidents at random intervals. Incidents occurred while making both left and right turns from a turning or stopping position. Trac off "button" does not disengage the system as indicated in the owner's manual from a low speed. Local dealership ran diagnostic test and recommended new tires/brakes but could not identify any "problems" with the vsc system other than the vsc system had engaged. After 4 new tires and new rear brakes were installed service tech drove vehicle and experienced the issue. He recommended documenting when the incidents occurred and under what circumstances in order to determine repair options. The vsc system continues to engage randomly causing a loss in acceleration when this occurs and is dangerous if driver has need to pull into traffic in instances such as turning onto major roadways.
I own a 2004 Toyota Sequoia. I took it in for new tires, with balancing and an alignment. They also did brake work on the front. It needed caliper pins and the rotors were turned. It had 47,481 miles on it. When my wife left the dealership there was a failure of the vsc (vehicle stability control) system. The system never once before malfunctioned until after the service at the Toyota dealership. It is clear that the dealer messed something up. They claim they did nothing to cause it. We talked the head manager of the dealership. The manager denied that it could be in any way their fault. Is it possible that the service caused the failure? I don't know what Toyota has their mechanics do but someone needs to do a full investigation. The vehicle now is a hazard to drive. I currently can't afford the $1500 dollars to replace the computer. Could it be related to the kind of tires put on or dust or metal in the sensors? failure codes are c0210 (right rear wheel speed sensor signal malfunction, c1223 (abs control system malfunction) , and c1310 (active booster solenoid). The Sequoia's vsc light comes on often and the vehicle will not accelerate even when the pedal is pressed all the way to the floor. It has almost caused about 2 bad accidents. We currently drive it but don't rely on it for passing. If the system fails we just have to drive slow and stay in our lane. I do know that Toyota knows that this is a huge problem. They also use a different skid control computer in newer models. We need a recall. I have seen many references to this same exact problem. For the safety of our drivers please issue a recall. The manufacturer obviously didn't test the system before it was allowed on the market.

I bought Toyota Sequoia brand new in November of 2005, and my tires wear off in less than a year, it had only 26,000 miles. Replace tires with brand new set of tires and I need to replace them again. And my Sequoia only has 56,105 miles. When it first happened I call dealer and they said to allign the car and to rotate tires but still my tires wears off very fast. Please if you have any information regarding this situation help me. Thank you karen.
Our 05 Toyota Sequoia bought new with original tires(dunlop grand trek at20). Almost right away noticed the tires wearing oddly on outside of all 4 tires. We purchased Toyota's service plan & took it in as suggested every 5,000 miles. My wife told a service man & was told it was expected. I took it in & they rotated the tires again. Going against Toyota's recommendation(every other oil change). I didn't see how rotating them sooner would stop the problem. I have noticed the traction on them failing even on dry road and this is the only form of transportation for my wife and 2 year old son. Looking online I have found Toyota had complaints for the same problem since 2003. There's even several ones for the same exact car as ours. Others had serious problems & I am wanting to avoid an accident. These tires are unsafe and we want them replaced the outside edge on all 4 of ours have been bald over 10,000 miles. Yet Toyota says its ok. Are they trying to push us off until the warranty is expired? OH, dunlop's web site said to go to the dealer,Toyota's handbook said to go to the tire CO. ? I don't care who said what I bought the Sequoia new from Toyota with the tires they put on it & they have known about this problem for over 3 years now. Someone needs to step up and take care of this before there's an accident & someone really gets hurt. I'm going to take it in for the 30,000 on 1/3/07 & attempt to resolve the issue again. However I have noticed every review states that the new tires(same ones) do the same thing. One person has already had them replaced twice. We should get safe tires that last (with normal care & wear)as long or even close to the time expected we paid for it!. If you do some on line searches you won't have to look long to see many other people with this exact problem. These tires are very unsafe and misleading. Please help!bought this SUV to keep my family safe. Thank you. Concerned husband and father.
2006 Toyota Sequoia, sr5; dunlop at20 grandtrek tires, p265/65r17; 4k miles; since new, vehicle has a shimmy starting at 32 mph and beyond; dealership has inspected 3 times, reportedly re-balancing wheels once and equalized all tire pressures. Problem not solved! test drove another like vehicle, similar problem. Other same vehicles' owners have similar complaints. Reported to Toyota customer service; no resolution! please advise of any similar problems with tires/rims/vehicle/warping of drive axle, etc. Thank you.
Bridgestone dueler h/t tire sixe 265/65r17 blowout and could not locate a replacement. Right rear tire. Toyota SUV had only 6. 045 miles. Did not hit anything. Was not able to replace with same type of tire. Had to pay $274. 35 for a different tire.
The inner part of the tires wore out more than the outer portion. As a result, when driving 55 mph the vehicle vibrated violently. (uneven tire wear).
Defective dunlop tire inside coming apart. Tires have to be replaced. Both tires seemed to have had large indents within the tread on the inside shoulder.
Consumer stated the front tires made the front end vibrate violently. Dealer rotated and balanced the tires. However, the problem recurred.
Failure reguarding to tires. . . . In particular to toyo tires / open country, 265/r70/16. He problem is a safety issue, the tires are cracking in the tread grooves. And not just one tire all four tires, to top that all off these are the second set. . . . The first one's were already replaced for the same problem. The originals had only less than 10,000miles when I, had noticed the cracking, toyo tires replaced all four because of the defect( all four tire were cracked). The replacement set also cracked the same way, but I, had just noticed the defect. . . . Almost 45,000miles later (again all four tires are cracked the same way. I have been told different and changing stories. What I want to know are these tires safe. . . . I'm worried about my families safety, are these tires going to explode as they drive on the highway(we have a large SUV). This defect should be checked out. I can send a copy of the bills and the authorization numbers for the replacements (second set / all four). Also I am willing to send the tires. How can this be 8 tires all crack the same way, is this a big defect? or does the, number of deaths, box need a number in it first?.
Substandard tires on 2003 Toyota Sequoia. The vehicle displayed a rough feel while in motion. The tires were said to be defective. All four tires were replaced by the dealer with dunlop grandtek at20 tires. There was uneven tire wear in the inner and outer tread wearing at a faster rate than the center of all the tires. All of the tires were close to reaching the wear bar on the inner and outer edge of the tire. The consumer felt that the tires weren't adequate for the size and weight of the vehicle.
Left rear tire (bridgestone tire model dueler h/t 840 blew) out when driving 65 mp on free way.
Purchased a Toyota Sequoia 7/01. Been in and out of service ever since. We are currently on our 3rd set of brakes, 3rd trip computer, and 3rd set of tires, 2nd battery, 2nd amplifier. Car only has 33,000 miles many other problems including some electrical. Currently waiting for word from dealership on problems with transmission and fuel system. Everything up to this point (except tires #3) has been covered by warranty. Dealership got a case # with Toyota so these problems will be covered if they persist. Feel like we are on the path to a lemon. Don't know how else to proceed. Sent Toyota a letter detailing problems, asking to possibly help us get into another vehicle. We are at the point where it is a new concern everyday with this car. Help!!!!!!.
The tires had no traction, when driving in the snow, consumer stated the tires were incompatible with the vehicle.
