Tire Blowout problems of the 1998 Toyota Sienna

Four problems related to tire blowout have been reported for the 1998 Toyota Sienna. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tire Blowout problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2003

While driving front drivers side left tire blewout. The dealer was notified. There was severe vibration and consumer found that the left front tire tread had separated. After traveling another 65 miles there was severe vibration and the left rear tire had tread separation.

2 Tire Blowout problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2001

Left front and right rear firestone affinity tires size: p215/65r15, experienced blowouts with approximately 24,000 miles on them on a 1998, Toyota, Sienna. First blowout occurred in the tread of the tire, the second blowout occurred in the sidewall, consumer states they experienced several punctures in the tires prior to the blowouts, dot number w2vfa1a160.

3 Tire Blowout problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2000

While traveling, @ approx. 60 mph, on a state hwy. , the rear passenger tire blew out. Driver immediately pulled off the road. It appears the tire completely peeled away from wheel. Owner incurred excessive towing fees and tire replacement costs not expected on a 2 yr. Old vehicle with only 22,000 miles. ( dot number: tire size: p215/65r15 ).
