1 Tire problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2006

I purchased 2 cooper lifeliner touring sle size 215/ 65r-15. They complete unraveled within one week of each other. One was replaced as my daughter was headed on a 350 mile trip back to her college town, and the other I still have disintergrated on her way home from college. She could have been seriously injured if they were on the front instead of the back. I could not believe it it came apart right down to the steel belt.

2 Tire problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2002

Tread separation exactly as described in current recall situation. I'm confident firestone continues to hide something. Dt.

Severe tread separation steels coming apart unsafe to drive. Dt.

4 Tire problem

Had a right rear tire (firestone f 680) delaminate while traveling on interstate while driving a 1998 Toyota Sienna le. Tire was original equipment, had 35,000 miles, and was properly inflated (checked night before incident). Result of tread delamination was loss of rear wheel well cover and damage to rear bumper.

7 Tire problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2001

Catastrophic tire failure while traveling on interstate highway. Tires not under-inflated. Tire explosively separated (belt and carcass) causing violent feedback to steering. . No wreck due to luck; no turnover solely due to low profile of vehicle. Tire now looks the same as previously recalled firestone tires. Replaced all four tires with other brand. Recommend a look at basic firestone radial tire design. (dot number: w2vfait tiresize: p215/65r15).

8 Tire problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2000

The left rear tire went flat as I was driving at about 60 miles per hour. I found the side wall of the tire (the side facing in towards the car) had split in 4 places. The tire came with the car at time of purchase and therfore only had 21100 miles logged on to the tire. The minivan is typically used in local traffic at a average speed of 35 miles per hour. ( dot number: w2vf tire size: p215/65r15 ).

9 Tire problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2000

All 4 tires developed "knots". One tire wore oddly to the belts. Car was balanced and aligned. Tires have been rotated regularly pressure has been maintained at all times even though there was plenty of tread left. They became unusable. **dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*734317.

12 Tire problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2000

On 8/4/00 we were having our tires rotated by America's tire store in folsom, CA. They showed us the passanger front tire was beginning to peel. About 20% of the tire was affected. With the reports I'm hearing abouit the other firestone tires I wanted to report this. We kept the tire for evidence just in case it is needed. ( dot number: w2m0 f6l tire size: 205/70/r15 ).

13 Tire problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2000

The right rear tread completely separated from the tire. The tire dealer who replaced the entire set said that all the tires were coming apart. The only reason we realized we had a problem was the car has a tire condition/pressure indicator and the car was riding rough. My husband inspected the tires on several different occasions and never noticed the tread separating. I also took my car to a tire dealer on two separate occasions when I first noticed the light indicator. The tire dealer never noticed the tread coming apart either. We only realized we had a problem when the ride became very rough. My husband changed the tire and placed the spare on the car until I could get to the tire dealer.
