6 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2015

My 2006 Sienna, airbag srs light is blinking all the time, which means airbag won't be deployed during accident. This is very critical. I saw so many owners of 2006 Sienna complain about the exactly same issue. Why is this not recalled?.

7 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2014

Takata recall I am filing this complaint because I have contacted Toyota many times regarding the safety of the airbags in my van. The safety of my family is in question. Even though a recall does not come up when I enter the VIN in safercar. Gov, I am told by Toyota that doesn't mean my van won't be subject to a recall in the future. I need to know! my family and I are expected to play russian roulette every time we get in the van. Toyota reps are playing a guessing game when they give me information about the safety of my van. They cannot tell me why my van is not being recalled. I need specifics such as who made the airbag in my van, Toyota says they cannot tell me this because their lawyers have told them not to give out that info. The person who gave me this info told me they spoke to the executive management where they work and that is all they can tell me. Not good enough! I would like to know why nobody will give me a definitive answer that would put my mind at ease. Could it be because my van is a 2006 and takata knew of the airbag problems in 2004 but did not admit to it until 2008? can they not tell me definitively because takata tampered with info from 2004 through 2008 before they went public with problem? Toyota reps tell me they are going forward with recalls as they receive info from takata and the NHTSA. I cannot trust takata with the safety of my family and for this reason I am appealing to the NHTSA to please give me permission to take my van to a certified mechanic to have the airbags removed. You will probably quote the safety statistic that my chances of being killed in an auto accident are greater without airbags than having an airbag spontaneously explode in my face. Before the recall I was never fixated on getting in an accident, now I am a distracted driver worrying if my airbags are going to explode in someones face. Jeannine combs.

10 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2013

Srs light is flashing indicating problem with airbags.

11 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2013

All of a sudden, the air bags (srs) light came on and kept blinking. It stays blinking whenever the car is started. I checked the manual and am sure it is the srs light (not for the seat belt). The car was purchased in Dec 2006, and I have not had air bags issue before. Really concerned about the safety of this car given the short period of time that I own it.

12 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2013

The srs light came on as I was driving home from work. This vehicle has been in no accident and is well maintained. I took the car to the dealer and said that a TSB has been issued. However, my warranty period is over. I believe the car should still be covered. It appears to be a common issue based upon my google search.

13 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2013

The srs light came on and we cannot get it to turn back off, our vehicle is not under warranty anymore and Toyota dealership has advised us even if it was they wouldn't be able to assist us. This is a safety issue and we are worried for ours and our children's life's if we were to to be in an accident.

14 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2012

At 68000 miles, the srs light on my 2006 Toyota Sienna came on. It went off for about 2 hours then came back on. After the second time that it came on, I brought it to the dealer and they said that they diagnosed the problem as the connectors being bad and that the air bag had gone bad. There are thousands of complaints online about this exact same problem and model on both driver and passenger sides, yet Toyota has not made a single recall for these problems with the airbags. What will it take for us drivers concerned about the safety of our children to get a recall for these faulty wirings and airbags?.

15 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2012

My 2006 Toyota Sienna van has an srs light that intermittently comes on. I have seen no resolution from Toyota. I understand that the srs is disabled when the light is on, thus a safety issue.

16 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

Crack along outer edge of dashboard above instruments. Likely to extend to passenger side. May eventually cause airbag deployment to malfunciton.

17 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2012

My Sienna had a air bag code b0111 and flashing all the time. It might take over 3,000 dollars to fix that problem. Plus, my family is not safe in my Sienna. I do not know what to do.

18 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the air bag system shorted out and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and would get back in touch with the contact at a later date. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 76,926.

19 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2012

The srs light started blinking "on" when driving approximately 65 mph. The light remained blinking for a few days then the blinking stopped. The blinking began again after a week. I took the vehicle in to a Toyota dealer who diagnosed the problem. They said that Toyota has a bulletin out on TSB-0162-10 "srs light "on" - b0111/b0116 - open side squib circuit the repair at the dealer was quoted at $3682. 22. I felt this was unreasonable that Toyota knew about this safety issue and others have had the same problem but it was not deemed a "recall". I contacted Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 and spoke with a representative. I voiced my concern and they made a case number: 1203051801. They admitted that there was a bulletin out on the issue but that it was not a recall. I was very upset because we did not cause this defect and it puts our family of 5 at great risk! we cannot afford to have this defect fixed at this time and feel that Toyota should own up to this problem that is affecting many and putting family's at great risk! we purchased the van new with working air bags - they have never be deployed, and we have never done anything to access or modify their workability so this should not be our problem. Highway safety requires air bags in all vehicles and should hold Toyota accountable for this defect.

20 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2011

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnose that the air bag wiring harness was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 126,000 and the current mileage was 149,000. Pm.

21 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2011

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph the srs failure light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken the dealer, but the manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 67,000.

22 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

Airbag srs light began illuminating without any prior event. Van is currently at dealer awaiting service, harness wiring parts are on backorder. Dealer advises that "Toyota is really stepping up on this and has offered to pay for half the cost of the repairs = $1200".

23 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2010

I wanted to report that my 2006 Sienna with 97,070 miles came up with a b011 code for the front passanger airbag and wire harness. To my total shock I was quoted 2,900 to fix the problem at my local dealership. After further investigation I have found that this seems to be a reoccuring problem with this make and model. I called the customer service area of Toyota and had a non commital response from them. The standard canned answer. That there was no recall on this issue. I would have further expected that with the past safety issues Toyota had that would have looked into this.

24 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

The srs light began to blink. I took the van to the dealership to diagnose the problem. They said it was due to an open air bag in the front passenger seat which would cost $2000 to repair. I have since searched the internet to find several other complaints about the same problem. The yellow harness under the seat could possibly be the problem. If this wire is wiggled, the light goes off for a period of time. However, it returns later. I feel like srs safety should be covered for the lifetime of the vehicle unless the vehicle has been in an accident and they deploy (as they should unless there is a faulty mechanism such as mine has). Toyota should do their part to keep customers safe, especially after we have spent thousands on a vehicle in hopes of having a safe vehicle to drive.

25 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2010

26 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2010

I have 2006 Sienna le. Airbags signal is on and off in the dashboard. Its just under 30000 miles and 3+ years. Its really frustrating and after deep research it looks like all the owners have similar problems. Toyota should recall this ASAP.

27 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2010

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated at engine startup the air bag waring light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to both a private mechanic and the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 51,000. Rds.

28 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2007

Air bag fault lights for years. Dealer has fixed this a number of times pointing to bad plug connectors. Have replaced airbags over the years with same problem. Informs me that it needs new air bags as the plugs are part of the air bag. Very expensive! have learned to jiggle yellow air bag connectors under seat to resolve problem. Dealer indicated they adjusted pin connectors in the past? ridiculous as the problem is obviously in the connector and why should I have to pay for a complete air bag. Spent enough money on this persistent problem over the years. Please see Toyota TSB -1062-10 which acknowledges this long time defect.
