Carrier/rack problems of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Dashboard is sticky, cracking and has a very dangerous glare that has nearly caused a wreck.

Dash board is cracked all over . And not safe to drive with kids or dogs. I'm in florida witch is very hot state and you can feel and see this is dangerous plastic dash board. . They got recall 2 years ago and Toyota dealership close it . This year my dash board is looking horrible, begins just this year. I have same problem with my 2007 Toyota camry . I thing Toyota used the same material from plastic , that after 10 years it is not safe for people and way to expensive to fix it.

Minivan is kept in garage all the time and driven very few miles per year. However, there is intense cracking all over the dashboard. The dashboard is melting and jeopardizing the airbags being deployed. Toyota is aware of this and sent a warranty enhancement notification to get all melting/cracked dashboards fixed free of charge. However, the Toyota dealership never called to tell me the part is in and it has been almost 2 years now and now I am told it's past the date to get this fixed. It is suspect, the order was cancelled so Toyota can save money and then tell customers it's past the date of getting this fixed. Vehicle has defective, cracking dashboards & Toyota know of this.

Crack or sticky dash due to stick dash sun reflect to your eye which blind you while driving that is dangerous for an accident.

I took my 2006 Sienna in for it's regular maintenance. He told me that the power steering rack is deteriorated to the point of needing a new one soon or I could be in a car accident from loss of power steering. Unfortunately we do not have the money to replace it right now, so we are left short a car. If this has been a problem for Toyota Siennas, I'm not sure why it hasn't been taken care of.

The vinyl dashboard on my vehicle is melting in the sun. I live in florida and park the vehicle outside. The dashboard has a sticky residue to the touch. It has several cracks and the top of the dashboard appears to be covered in wax. What concerns me more is the vapor ordor emminating from the dash. It's making me and my four children sick. At 87 degrees today, I can't drive with the windows down. And the smell of the melted vinyl goes through the airconditioning vents. No amount of air freshener diffuses the odor. What can be done about this?.

The dashboard has melted and cracked leaving exposed styrofoam and stickiness. I had to buy a dashboard carpet protector to keep it from deteriorating further. Toyota sent me a notification of an extended warranty to replace the defective dashboard, after I qualified for a dashboard via my local Toyota dealer I was informed that the dashboards were on back order and that they have been waiting on these for over a year. I can not sell or trade this vehicle in its current condition.

I don't have record of the exact date. I took my Toyota 2006 Sienna for a regular service at sauve's auto repair and service in two rivers, WI. I was advised that my spare tire carrier was rusted so bad that the had to remove my spare tire and keep it in the trunk or they would not allow me to drive my vehicle, because it was not safe! they were amazed that it had not fallen off yet it was so bad. It could have been a hazard if it had fallen off while I was driving because it could have done harm to another vehicle or person. They repaired it. I was not aware of the recall until after I had it fixed. I notified Toyota about the incident and asked for a refund on the services. They would not give me my refund because I did not have the original receipt and invoice. As far as I am aware they still do not have an authorized part to replace it yet! Toyota case # 1507170610.

Dashboard is soft, sticky and appears to be melting, particularly in the hot sun. A large crack has developed laterally along the entire width.

Cracked/melting dashboards. Received letter from Toyota for free repair few months ago, but still waiting for another letter and do not receive any update from manufacturer yet.

During routine 60k mile maintenance I was informed the "steering rack" is "leaking from the passenger side". After only 61k miles, this seems to be an early failure of such a major component.

Dashboard began melting/cracking and pealing. It is now soft to the touch and pieces come out. There is a glare and it is a distraction while driving.
