While driving, there was a recurrent sound like doors locking and unlocking, several dozen times over a half hour drive at 50 miles per hour. When stopped, the passenger side sliding door opened by itself. Luckily, my dogs were in a kennel or they might have jumped out of the car. I closed it and it opened by itself again. At home, the passenger side sliding door opens when my neighbor presses the button on his key fob to open his non-Toyota pickup truck. It will not open or close when I press the button on my Sienna key fob.
I am contacting you regarding Toyota warranty enhancement program – ze6. This concerns sticky and cracking dashboard and glare from this. I had no idea this existed. I own a 2006 and a 2010 Sienna. I have not received any mailers from Toyota regarding either Sienna's . My van's dashboards are included in this program. Problem is, I never received notice from Toyota about either dashboard. Is there anything that can be done about this?.
My vehicle steering/control has frozen a few times in the past 18-24 mos. This happens for me in wet conditions at slow speeds while trying to turn, usually to the right. The car also seems to slow on its own and pull to the side at these times. This has also happened while reversing out of a parking spot. I do not recall seeing any lights engage but I am more focused on steering the car safely and exterior factors at these times so I haven't noticed the dashboard. It feels like the power steering fails, and I have no control. Thankfully, I have not been moving at high rates of speed, nor been in a position to go into the lane of on-coming traffic or had someone in a lane near me, and have been able to hold in position or manually turn as much as needed. Steering seems to return once the turn is complete. I have been fearful of hitting someone or being hit from behind each time. My mechanic has been unable to recreate the experience and was unable to suggest a direct answer. I see others have had similar experiences and the same lack of answers from even Toyota. Having come across this website and seeing responses here to this exact problem I have had, I am hoping for more information or a recall soon!.
Vehicle traction control system will activate around a curve and break the vehicle while the traction control warning system activates. Breaking around a curve in a wet road situation can be very risky. Numerous other Toyota owners have filed similar complaints.
My Toyota Sienna xle 2006 vsc and abs comes on when I drive uphill or downhill mostly when I steer to the left. This is a situation common on freeway ramps in or out. When this happens the car slows down abruptly beeps a loudly. This is an issue reported by many owner of that vehicle model across several years.
Slip light indicator comes on and alarm goes off, while anti-lock brakes engage. This is happening while I'm driving on the highway never in the city. The car starts pulling to the right sometimes almost pulling me off the road. The road conditions are completely normal and dry no gravel in it no reason whatsoever for the anti-lock brakes to start engaging. When this first started happening it only happens on curves while I was driving approximately 35 mph. After a couple of months it started happening also while I was driving approximately 70 miles an hour going straight on a dry road. It almost pulled me off into a ditch. The steering is affected I can barely steer but I have managed to keep the car on the road. This is now happening more frequently. I was almost pulled into another car to my right once. At first it was only every couple of months but now I had it happen twice in about a hundred mile trip. There's no way I can get a mechanic to have this happen because you can't predict when it will happen and many miles it won't happen. It is very very dangerous and I'm afraid to take my Toyota Sienna on the highway now. After researching it I have found that many people are having this trouble with their Toyota Sienna's there needs to be a recall or a repair. Apparently Toyota mechanics have replaced all kinds of things in the Sienna's but nothing has fixed the problem.
Vehicle shut off when going over the drain pipe I rolled it into a gas station turned it on and off switched gears and it started to roll back on drive I tried to move the gears and turned off the the vehicle after ward no gear worked.
The back hatch power struts will not hold up the hatch. These are the replacement struts from the first recall. The hatch will open up and then automatically begin to close. Any attempt to access the back of the van results in the hatch closing down on my head. I have read online that many other Sienna owners are having the same issue with the replacement struts. There needs to be another recall. The cost of replacing the "replacement struts" is nearly $800. This is a faulty part from Toyota; they should be held responsible.
While driving, the anti-slip light comes one, a signal sound goes off and the brakes engages on it's own. This makes it dangerous to drive for the potential of getting read ended. It happens when turning corners and bends or even just driving at 35mph. It started about 3 months ago.
Our van regularly has the traction control/anti slid come on while making minor turns on dry pavement. This happens at both freeway speeds and in town at 35 mph. When this happens the van automatically breaks and steering becomes more difficult. On more than one occasion this has come very close to causing an accident.
This happened to our 2006 Sienna today I was about to stop the car white parking it; we put the park they sill run; they never stop, so I turn off the engine; now they no more start very damaged.
The dashboard is melting and becomes shinning. When I drive, it reflects sunlight to my eyes.
About a year ago the slip indicator light (car with swervy lines) started coming on intermittently and without warning while turning on highways or roads in dry conditions without any risk of tires slipping. The abs activates without warning and the vehicle slows down on its own. The situation is very dangerous. No known fix from Toyota.
The transmission was damaged, the right side passenger side broke, the "brake" lights are on all the time.
Hi I have Toyota Sienna 2006. I checked for recalls and found 2 unrepaired. What should I do. Another thing, when my car goes over 70 miles it becomes shaking. Thank you.
When driving the vehicle regardless of speed or driving condition the traction control system randomly activates (it is always when going around a curve, but road conditions are dry, speed could be 70 or could be 20, there is no loss of control by me as a driver). This causes the car to abruptly brake. The computer system shows no issues when the dealer looks at it. When I deactivate the traction control system using the button the van will still beep loudly indicating a loss of traction control. It will also kick off the cruise control, but does not activate the automatic braking feature. This has been happening daily for 2 months with multiple visits to repair shops.
I called Toyota dealership 8/6/18 to request recall 17v657 and 14v273 to be repaired. The service personnel told me that they would put my name on a list for someone to call me when the parts were in. I called back today 10/11/18 to the parts department and was told both parts were in. He transferred me back to service who said the parts at the dealership 'were not for me' and I just need to wait. This is unacceptable as I have waited over 2 months for my auto to be repaired. I called the safety hotline on my letter 888-327-4236 and the call was disconnected. Please help me to get my car fixed.
The left sliding door would not close, I have sent this issue three times when it was under warantee, and it happened again 8/8/18 same problem the sliding door would not close. . The van was stationary and after opening the left sliding, it would not close.
In the involved vehicles, grease inside the shift lever assembly could transfer to other internal components, causing them to function improperly.
I took my Toyota 2006 Sienna in to the local dealer on 9/3/16 to have the spare tire cable replaced under warranty after receiving a letter from Toyota. I asked the service advisor if the van had any other recalls or warranty through Toyota. I was told yes for the rear lift gate struts but parts would have to be ordered. I asked about the melting dashboards since my father had seen it on the news and the van was on the list; even though as with the lift gate, I did not receive a letter from Toyota. I asked for the dashboard parts to be ordered at the same time the lift gate parts were ordered. The service advisor told me that the dashboard did not apply to my van. I went to the dealer, asked for the dashboard and was told no on 9/3/16. I drove the van on August 19, 2017 and left it parked in a parking lot for 15 minutes. When I returned I had a melting dash! it was all gooey and sticky to the touch. It was shining like it was coated in grease or oil. The glare reflected in the windshield and I could not see. I was only 4 miles from home and I crawled on the edge of the road with the window open. I called Toyota when I got home and filed a case when them. I was told the extended warranty had expired, so they would not help with the replacement of the dashboard. I went to the dealer on 8/22/17, where I had asked for the dashboard back on 9/3/16 and was told they sided with Toyota, they would not even order it unless I paid in advance. I asked this second service advisor to look at the dash and confirm it was the melting dashboard problem. He did confirm it. I asked him how it was possible to have just gotten sticky on 8/19/17. He told me that if it was not sticky when I asked for the replacement, according to instructions from Toyota, this is why the dealer did not order it. It would cost me over $2000 for a replacement dash!.
The cable that opens and closes the side sliding door has become frayed. Based on my investigation, this could cause the door to be stuck either open or closed which would create a serious safety risk.
While I was parking my Toyota Sienna the engine revved and the van took off like a rocket! my foot was on the brake and only the brake the entire time. I finally stopped after running uncontrollably into a building!.
The right side sliding door will not open automatically also will not shut when automatic button is pushed. I am very concerned this door may not open if needed or shut if needed.
The drivers side passenger door does not stay closed. I have had it fixed once last year and now it flies open again even when your driving. It will not stay closed even if you turn off the power door.
Driver's side power sliding door won't close. It tries to close when you press any of the buttons or handle but it gets stuck and remains open.
Back hatch does not stay up. Falls down on head, neck, back of person getting out items. Vehicle stationary. There was a nonmandatory recall of this in Sienna's with power hatches in 2008.
Noticed for several months a binding in closing electric side doors. A few weeks ago, I could not close the sliding door. Noticed a broken cable. The cable was frayed. It is also frayed on the other side of the car. I went to the Toyota dealer to get it repaired free. My odometer had 124,000 miles. The Toyota extended technical warranty ended at 120,000. This is a major safety issue. The other night I drove home in 28 degree weather with the sliding door open, because it would not close. We had to break the cable to get the door closed when we finallt got home. Children can fall out of open side doors on Toyota vans!! this is a serious manufacturing problem, and Toyota should have to replace the cables at any date that they break so children can get in or out of the car safely, and owners do not have to drive around with their doors open. It also runs down the battery!! a major safety issue. My grandchildren can fall out of my car!!!! please make them repair my our vans for free. $1200-1600 fix per door, otherwise. Safety issue!!!!!!!!!! ridiculous I have to even ask for your help. Toyota needs to cover their cars.
My dashboard has melted. It has left exposed styrofoam on the dash. I had to buy a vinyl sealer to keep the styrofoam from spreading all over the interior of the car. Toyota recently sent me a notification of an extended warranty to replace the defective dashboard, after I qualified for a dashboard via my local Toyota dealer I was informed that the dashboards were on back order and that they have been waiting on these for over a year. In the mean time , I can not sell or trade this vehicle in its current condition and I don't know if exposure to defective dashboard is affecting my health or not. . Toyota do what you say you will do and replace my defective dashboard.
Sliding door on the passenger side stop operating suddenly as I was ready to slowly throttle. The power sliding door won't operate and the door won't lock with my kids in it. I stopped the vehicle and investigated the door and found the power sliding is not closing on pressing the power switch. Power sliding doors should be defect free for lifetime warranty and could risk kids, adults sitting in the back.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated while driving 30mph the spare tire fell off the vehicle due to a rusted cable. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the tire was taken from it's original position and put in the trunk of the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate vehicle failure mileage for the vehicle was 113000. Kh.
Upon trying to open the passenger side rear automatic sliding door - plastic pieces shot out at people standing nearby hitting them in the face and upper body, and the end of a wire/cable flung out nearly hitting someone in the eye. The door continued to make loud clicking and crunching noises and would not open more that an inch or so. It had to be forcefully shut in order to drive the vehicle. Similar things happened again when it was brought to the dealer to determine what the problem was. The dealer said the cause was the automatic door mechanisms. The velocity at which the plastic pieces and cable flung out could seriously injure someone. This issue should be required to be recalled and repaired free of charge since it could cause serious eye injury from defective parts.
I was driving my Toyota Sienna 2006 today morning and the driver in front of me abruptly stopped. I was maintaining a safe distance and immediately hit my brakes. Although the brakes seemed to engage, the car accelerated and very badly rear-ended the car in front me. Has this happened to anyone before with the car auto-accelerating on it's own?.
Right side power sliding door will not open at all. It appears that the latch will not release. This started happening a few years ago and it was brought to a mechanic who disabled the power opener, and this appeared to have fixed it, but then the problem started to appear while manually trying to open the door. The same mechanic doesn't recall what he did to disable the power and would be able to open the door and would send us home, where in a couple days after driving it would happen again. It's now in a state where it can't be opened at all. And since this door is required to be open to access the spare tire, it makes it even more of a safety hazard!.
While the vehicle was in motion, the spare tire dropped suddenly. Toyota knew about this corrosion problem back in April 20, 2010 with NHTSA campaign number 10v160000. In may 22, 2014, another interim campaign number 14v273000 was issued. Until today, nothing have been followed up to solve the issue. Toyota's customer service just told me that "until they found a permanent solution for this issue, just put the spare tire in the trunk". This type of shirking responsibilities and aloof attitude. The sudden dropped of the tire would have pose a very dangerous conditions to other vehicles if on a busy highway.
My Toyota Sienna dashboard has been melting. It started with small dots and now its peeling off.
