3 Car Stall problem of the 2010 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 02/16/2018

In motion, when I let up off the accelerator to assess traffic, such as at the top of an on-ramp or other merging situation, then I decide it is safe to merge, and I press the accelerator, the vehicle stalls briefly before "catching" and accelerating. The engine doesn't sputter or cut off, the vehicle just sits still as though it isn't getting gasoline. I've had a few close calls when attempting to accelerate and merge into traffic. This isn't a gear down-shift/up shift type thing. . . Just a stall. It's not every time I slow down to coast, then decide to accelerate, but sporadically. I've had the van checked by the dealer and they couldn't find anything. I was told it's a "computer thing," with the computer getting confused because to doesn't know whether I want the van to coast to a stop or to accelerate, and "the computer gets confused. " I don't have specific dates.

4 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 04/26/2017

My 2016 Toyota Sienna that has 16,000 miles was parked at home and I went to go start it and it stalled. The car was towed to hendrick Toyota of apex, nc and they told me that rodents chewed threw the wiring and it was not covered by my warranty. I have complained to both the dealership and to Toyota. I have had another Toyota parked in within the same proximity for over 15 years. I have never had rodent issues with it. I am concerned for the safety of my family. Iif there are mice living inside the car, they could be leaving rat droppings that could be harmful to both of them. I am angry and concerned and don't understand why, when other vehicles parked in the same location aren't experiencing the same problem. After further research I found that auto manufacturers in order to go green are using soy based products on wires instead of petroleum. They are using sugar in their plastics. Rice husks in their interiors. All this stuff attracts rodents. This is unacceptable! my dealership said they are seeing at least 2 rodent damaged vehicles a week. Toyota needs to fix this problem, change the materials they use, and cover it under warranty. There have been several class action lawsuits against Toyota for this issue. . Read more...

11 Car Stall problem of the 2011 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 12/22/2010

5 month old Toyota Sienna 2011 stalled after the lights inside the dashboard (control panel) started blinking and then would not start again. It was towed to the dealer on 12/22/2010. Dealer initially (on 12/27/2010) said it is due to water damage and engine has to be replaced. Dealer was not able to find any evidence of Sienna being submerged in water (as it did not go into any big puddle or deep waters). I opened a case with Toyota on 12/28/2010. I was in touch with Toyota dealer but case manager at Toyota informed that they were unable to reach/speak to the dealer for 2 days even though they are both in California. She informed me that their policy is to concur with dealer without even looking at the report or talking to them and they would neither investigate nor inspect. My insurance company (aaa) performed visual inspection and found too many metal pieces inside the engine. Insurance company also followed up with dealer and informed there are other cases where they had seen similar issue with Toyota Sienna 2011 and this does not seem to be a water damage. There has been neither an explanation nor a follow-up from Toyota as to what the cause was. Dealer reported back on 01/04/2011 and informed me that it might be a mechanical failure and Toyota will fix it. I am now concerned about the safety of my family and anyone who drives Sienna. What if stalls in the middle of freeway ? what if this happens again ? worried and tensed owner of Toyota Sienna 2011.
