When the 3rd-row folding seats are down and stored and the breaks are applied suddenly the seat will release and attempt to return a nonstored position. I had a box of water on top of the seat to keep it from moving. Unfortunately when I breaked the box moved and the seat left the stored position and crushed the water bottles. If I had had a pet back there they would have been injured.

Toyota Sienna has 3rd row seats recall already. While I was at dealership I explained that second seats are also rattling when they were fixing the 3rd row recall. My concern is that since they have safety concerns on that they should investigate all the seats for safety. Because I’m experiencing second row issues with my vehicle. Terrible dealership! called corporate office Toyota they were also no help! please! please!. My request please have Toyota investigate the second row seats as well. .
Please note that the Toyota all weather floor mats included with the 2020 Sienna do not allow the 2nd row seats to slide back and forth on the rails without getting jammed on the mats. My son was in the 3rd row and the seat got jammed n the mat and he could not exit the vehicle.

This is a major issue that could lead to death for the third row passengers. The legs of the third row do not lock into the floor all the time. Please see pictures it will clarify the issue. In case of rear end the seats could rotate back and the passengers could have a direct hit to the top of the head.

I have a question regarding vehicle seat movement. I have been told by two dealerships that the seats in the third row of the Toyota Sienna are meant to have some play to them. My main concern is that with a couple of car seats in the third row, or a couple of passengers, the movement of the seats may be an issue. All four seat latches rotate when lifting on the seat by hand, allowing the seat to twist, move to the rear of the vehicle and move laterally. This would be less of a concern if the seats themselves were not the mount for the latch system and seat belts. My question is, what movement is allowed of these seats? in an accident, a huge amount of force can be exerted on these latches, and if they allow play, that force can be multiplied by that movement. The increase in force could potentially cause the latches to fail. Currently there is no safety test for third row occupants or rear end collisions, from what I have researched. The attached files show the accessible latches, and their movement when force is applied to the seat.
The occupant sensing system does not recognize that someone (full grown adult) is sitting in the passenger seat. This problem is identical to a previous recall (NHTSA campaign # 13v014000) Toyota says they do not have to fix it under the recall. Perhaps the recall does not cover all of the vins impacted.
Since we bought the vehicle there has been a shaking and bang noise from the third set row and passager seat in second row and glove box. The arlington va dealer fixed it nine months later but the noise and shaking returned yesterday at the dealer in bowie maryland the told us it was a normal characteristics issue just with our van no other complaints were issued. The tried to force us to take the van before it was fixed and took the retal car back which left us with no vehicle. My case number is 108011842. Just want it fixed not the rude unsatisfied service from the owner himself and tom the service manager.

When attempting to install my forward facing car seat using latch, I've not been able to locate the hook for the top tether, that should be located behind each of my 2nd row seats. Despite checking the manufacturers manual, I was merely able to locate what felt like a hook that is completely covered by fabric. Not knowing any better, I mistakenly hooked the tether strap to another hook that was located behind the seat. In completing a cpst course, I've learned that this practice could have significantly injured or killed my child if we had been involved in a wreck. My cpst instructors agreed with my suspicion that there is a defect in the construction of these seats, and that the tether bar should not be completely covered by fabric. My fear is that other families with this vehicle are putting their children at risk of injury or death because they aren't utilizing the top tether simply because they can't access the bar for it.

Passenger seat warmer was on the other day while I was driving and began smoking and melted the seat in the shape of a dime. For a couple weeks it was causing burning feeling in legs from being too hot. I turned off seat warmer and hit the seat until the smoking stopped.

I was completely stopped in my Sienna awd at a traffic light at the top of a freeway on-ramp in a major city, and rear-ended by a vehicle beginning to travel down the on-ramp at an unknown but high rate of speed and not heeding the traffic signal. On impact, the rear cargo compartment of my Sienna crushed inward so far that it caused the third row bench seat to move forward and propel the seat part of the bench seat into the backs of the second row captain's chairs in front of it. This would have crushed the legs and maybe whole body of anyone seated in the outer two seats of the rear bench seat, and perhaps in the middle position as well. I found a piece of paper bag caught between the bottom seat edge of the bench seat and the back of a captain's chair, and I could not pull that piece of paper free. I had to pull really hard to remove the large pack of toilet tissue, shown in the uploaded photo, in order to dislodge it from the rear bench seat area. The tissue pack likely is narrower than the trunk of an adult human body which could have been caught there, with legs also crushed by the lower portion of the bench seat as it impacted the back of the captain's chair in front of it. I believe the cause of this safety problem is a poor design; inadequate rear-crash protection for third-row passengers, who usually are children. As a parent and vehicle owner, I was never warned about the great danger my children could be in if they seated anywhere along the third-row bench seat during a rear-end collision. I'm traumatized by the thought of a child or anyone having been seated in the third row at the time of this collision, which fortunately they were not in this instance.
I stopped at a gas station and was parked with the car on, and I reached under my front passenger seat (manual seat) and received a 20 amp shock from one of the wires under the seat. Resulting in my dislocating my shoulder from the muscle spasms. Taking it into dealership tomorrow morning but after talking with them they dont have any idea what could have caused it.

Takata recall on my 2011 Toyota Sienna. I purchased the van new in pharr texas which is at the southern tip of texas, ten minutes from the mexico boarder. The climate here is hot with normally high humidity. It is my understanding I should have been contacted by Toyota and at the very least be on a waiting list for parts to address the recall. When I approach the dealership I'm told; "nothing can be done, we are waiting on parts. " no one writes anything down, no one shows me that there is a list and that I'm on that list. Nothing seems to be happening to address the issue. I keep my van garaged and in like new condition. It has very low mileage and I plan to keep it for at least another five years. I need help in getting this safety recall addressed in a timely manner. Thank you!.
Tl-the contact owns 2015 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the middle row seat behind the driver side shifts inadvertingly. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where they diagnosed that the seats needed a bracket to keep them from shifting. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not made aware. The vehicle failure mileage was at 15,000. Ds.
There is a rattling that comes from the 2nd row seats. It is loud and driving me crazy. I see hundreds of complaints on Toyota forums but Toyota will not acknowledge the issue, sounds like I am driving a clunker instead of a $35,000 car. I purchased new and this has been going on for seveal years.

The airbag sensor light comes on and flashes. It will shut off and turn on randomly. The wire harness under the seat becomes loose or damaged as the seats are moved and airbags are not detected. The light stays flashing and airbags are non-functional. Toyota knows about this but tries to charge thousands of dollars for them to replace their faulty wires.

The contact stated that while driving 2 mph and making a left turn, another vehicle coming from oncoming traffic crashed into the passengers side of the vehicle and caused the vehicle to crash into a signal light pole. The contact stated that the seat belt failed to retract properly causing her to land on the front passengers side seat after the crash. As a result, the contact sustained cervical stiffness, back and neck injuries that required medical attention. The contact stated that she suffered severe injuries due to the vehicle not being equipped with a drivers side arm rest. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a impound lot. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 183,000. Aw.
Seat gets stuck to base and does not come out. I had to forcefully take my 1 month old out of the seat and in cold hold him in hand to take to dr office. It can be frightening if there is accident, and child needs to be taken out.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Toyota Sienna. When the vehicle was started, the driver's seat reclined on its own and all the warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the air bag indicator remained illuminated and "check srs air bag system" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to sparks Toyota (4855 us-501, myrtle beach, SC 29579, 843-236-2161) where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be found. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

Air bag light started blinking when car started and stayed blinking. Brought in to dealer and comments were "open in side. Squib rh circuit" and "needs pass. Side front seat airbag" for $865. Same issue seems true for 2007 Siennas online. Light stopped blinking and has not recurred.
Seat warmer on drivers side burns my leg if left on for more than 2-4 minutes. Understand there is a recall for this year and model but was told by Toyota the recall does not apply to factory installed models(xle) , which mine is, only vehicles which had seat warmers installed by southeast Toyota(set) as an option.

2011 Toyota van front passenger seat-the seat became stuck and would not move during any attempt to adjust it with the handle. No debris or obstruction was in the seat track after multiple checks. After being service by Toyota and first being told by the technician that it was debris in track and my requesting to have the debris that was in the track, he then stated that he threw it out, I asked him if we could inspect the garbage for the ¿items so I could have it, he then stated that ¿spring also came off the seat which he did not tell me during our previous conversation. He never retrieved the items that he stated were stuck in the seat track and I was not allowed to search the garbage for the items. He could not tell me what the items were or looked like that he stated were stuck in the track.
I drove only 1975 mileage but my van makes unbearable noise from 3rd row seat. I took to Toyota service station twice but I was told it is manufacturing defect and Toyota couldn't find solution for this problem. I sent out email to Toyota but didn't hear from them yet I paid about $ 44,000. 00 for this van. Driving this car I feel I punish my self everyday. I am looking for help to get it fixed.

The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that when engaging the brakes the front driver seat would slightly slide forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the vehicle was performing up to manufacturer specifications. As a result, they did not offer any assistance since they were unable to alter the design of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 12.
Front passenger seat back tilts forward slightly when braking. This causes the seat back to feel loose and like you're moving forward in the seat when braking. Driver's seat does not have the issue.
While reconfiguring the middle row seats of my 2006 Toyota Sienna le, several 15 and 17 mm bolts fell loose from the seat. I removed the moldings around the seats and inspected the situation. My findings, documented with pictures, revealed several loose bolts in the assemble attaching the seat back with the seat bottom. Three bolts had come completely loose while three more were no longer tight in the passenger side middle-row seat. Four bolts were no longer tight in the driver side middle-row seat.
Third row seat does not latch properly, doesn’t stay firmly attached to the floor. We have taken the vehicle to a Toyota dealer three times and they are unable to fix the problem. Indoor noise is pretty high too, grinding , seat shaking type of sound.
Third row of seats do not remain safely and firmly attached to the floor. We have taken the vehicle to two Toyota dealers and they are unable to fix the problem. Toyota hopes to fix the issue in a month or two. Hope noone gets killed while Toyota works on fixing the issue.
The srs light began to blink. I took the van to the dealership to diagnose the problem. They said it was due to an open air bag in the front passenger seat which would cost $2000 to repair. I have since searched the internet to find several other complaints about the same problem. The yellow harness under the seat could possibly be the problem. If this wire is wiggled, the light goes off for a period of time. However, it returns later. I feel like srs safety should be covered for the lifetime of the vehicle unless the vehicle has been in an accident and they deploy (as they should unless there is a faulty mechanism such as mine has). Toyota should do their part to keep customers safe, especially after we have spent thousands on a vehicle in hopes of having a safe vehicle to drive.
I have an 8 month old son, who is very tall for his age. Therefore, he is in a britax roundabout 50 carseat - rearfacing. I drive a 2011 Toyota Sienna xle. One day when I was parked on an uphill incline, my sleeping son's head fell forward and he stopped breathing until my husband realized it and pushed his head back. We had been using a rolled receiving blanket to help how upright his rearfacing seat sits in the backseat captains chair of our van. The straps of the carseat are not long enough to accommodate a pool noodle, because the seat of the car is so reclined.
2011 Sienna xle front passenger and middle row seat backs are not secure. There is play and movement in the seat back mechanism to give the illusion that the entire seat is sliding forward when you apply the brakes.
The six way automatic drivers' seat shifts while driving.
The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator flashes intermittently on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately three times and they stated that the wiring in the seat back needed to be replaced. The current mileage was 52,622 and failure mileage was 47,000.
