Toyota Sienna owners have reported 5 problems related to steering wheel vibrate (under the steering category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Toyota Sienna based on all problems reported for the Sienna.
The van has extreme outer tire wear on the front of the vehicle. Driver's side front seems to be to worst. Tires are being rotated at recommended intervals (5000-6000mi) and an alignment check and adjustment is done at the same time. 60,000mi rated tires are lasting 10,000-15,000mi before requiring replacement and causing very poor turning/steering, excessive steering wheel vibration and pull, and dramatically increased hydroplaning in mild rain conditions.

When I brake (especially from higher speeds) the steering wheel shakes and the car ride feels very jerky - esp for those in the front seats. There also seems to be a whining or rubbing noise.

Steering wheel presents vibration and strange noise when fully turned to any side. Complained to Toyota during the extended warranty and service was denied, stating that is was functional and not broken. Now (Feb 2012, extended warranty expired) it is really getting worse and worse. Would Toyota wait for the part to fail and someone to be killed to address the problem? there is a premature wear in the steering column and steering system.

I have been complaining for the last 2 years to Toyota about my 2002 Sienna regarding steering wheel vibration while driving on the highway. They have checked the car and told me they found nothing. The car is dangerous to drive at high speeds.

My wife was driving a 98 Toyota Sienna with kids on the freeway in a comuter lane. All of a sudden the steering wheel started vibrating and locked in left position. As a result they ended up crashing in the middle divider head on. The van took a 180 degree spin and hit from the back. We have done 99000 miles on this van in last 5 years. This is totally a malfunction or mechanical failure of steering wheel. We have done long trips with our van in the past 5 years and never had problem. Also the air bags did not open up even though the impact was so severe.
